njkruzer Posted June 10 #1 Share Posted June 10 We're taking our granddaughter on the Navigator in July. She loves to ice skate. I know they have some free skate time. I have some x questions. Does anyone know if she can bring her own skates? If she uses their skates I know she needs socks. Any other rules?

royal3 Posted June 10 #4 Share Posted June 10 On our Navigator cruise last January, we saw a couple of people using their own skates. Yes, helmets are provided by RCCL. As soon as you get on the ship, use the app to reserve your skate time. The time slots fill-up fast. Also, no cell phones allowed while skating.

cruiseguy1016 Posted June 10 #7 Share Posted June 10 I recommend leaving the skates at home. For the short amount of time she'll be able to actually use them, I don't think it's worth the trouble to bring them. She won't be able to use them every day and when she does, it won't be for hours at a time. The hours for open skate are very limited and not available every day. njkruzer Posted June 10 Author #9 Share Posted June 10 Thank you everyone. Agree about not bringing skates if we had to travel but she lives in Burbank so less of an issue. Will discuss it with her parents.
Rare TwoMisfits Posted June 10 #10 Share Posted June 10 FYI - You get about 5 minutes to put on gear and 30 minutes to open skate during your reservation. My 9:10am reservation had us off the ice at 9:45am on Symphony last month. If you have the Key, you can get an additional hour of ice skating on board (so 5 minutes for equipment and about 50-55 minutes for skating), but that's about all you'll be able to do. So, I'd leave the skates at home, and make sure you bring the pants...
