Good morning friends!  We’re still heading around the southern tip of Greenland at 18 knots.  Weather is 43F, light rain and fog.  The ship has been rocking side to side for several hours.  Scuttlebutt around the ship is that we might be heading to a tiny village, Arsuk, last reported to have 73 inhabitants.  I suppose anywhere that had open sea with little ice is what the parameters are for replacement ports.  This ought to get very interesting when we all show up looking for a nice walk on Greenland soil.  There aren’t even any restaurants according to Wikipedia.

Thanks Rich @richwmn for the Fleet Report and Daily as well as the fleet location maps for today.  Interesting days to recognize today and a fine quote by Emily Dickinson.  I have no idea about the meal and drink but would try the Sauvignon Blanc.  I haven’t had an alcoholic beverage in two days so HAL is making a fortune off my HIA package.  And what an exciting day for Francis Drake when he landed on our west coast.  Thank you Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for the F&B reports today.

Prayers for our group here on the Care list and even those who aren’t but still in need of them.  Also to DB, Alex’s boys, the people of Israel and Ukraine, the hostages still alive, and our troops in the region watching out for us.  Glad to hear Jane @lazey1 is somewhat better, and hope Terri @Cruzin Terri is doing okay too.  Jacqui @kazu best wishes to you as you deal with your foot pain. You are in all our prayers!  For those with celebrations and cruising, enjoy!  Try not to get sick like me!  Thanks Vanessa @JazzyV for the list keeping again today.  You always do a fine job.

Today is my 18th anniversary of joining Cruise Critic.  I missed noticing last year so guess I should whoop it up this year.  LOL!  In other news when we went looking for scores for yesterday’s Nashville MLS Next soccer tournament, none of the games were played and are rescheduled for today.  Then we checked out yesterday’s weather report and it seems they had thunderstorms from mid afternoon to evening so that must be why.  Stay tuned!  Today my cold is slightly better so guess I’ll live.  I went up to Lido first thing today and sat in a far corner, and DH brought me whatever I wanted so I could conserve my strength.  I still cough but I’m doing less of it.

The port today is Talkeetna, Alaska which I am sure is very nice.  We had that port before on Aug. 25, 2021 and Jan. 29, 2022 so I’ll provide those links for you.  Wish I could get there sometime but it’s not on the 28 day Legendary Alaska cruise next summer.  Thanks in advance for your photos.

Have a great Monday everybody.  Try to stay safe and keep well!

Greetings from beautiful Port Charlotte.

78 this AM with a high of 90 with no rain which is a bit unusual.

Alligators are bad enough, don’t need a day for crocodiles, they’re 10s meaner than gators.
I’m not sure about the quote.

I’m not sure about the meal either.

Have a great day and stay well.

Good Monday morning. Thanks for the Daily and Fleet reports.

It will be a hot one today. Blazing sun as we head into a heat wave. A week of temperatures in the 90s. Looks like I will be watering the garden quite frequently.

Getting back on track after traveling last week. Ended two classes so grading final assignments will take most of my day. The system has been down for one of the universities and I cannot access the classroom there. A new class starts today. I am seeing larger class sizes. No increase in pay though. Oh well.

Thinking of all on the care list.

Celebrating with all who are celebrating.

Have a safe and healthy day.

It's Monday again. Keep pouring the coffee. Funny Cat Images, Cat ...

Thanks for our Monday Daily, rich and thanks to Vanessa, Debbie, Ann & Dixie.

Good collection o days.  Of the 3 I will celebrate combatting desertification and drought.  It’s a big challenge especially with climate change.  Dickinson’s quote be true or some moments in life.

Optometrist  appointment this morning and the hunt for boxes - both badly needed.  After that, I’ll see what the day holds and hope for some leg and foot co-operation 😉. During the breaks, I best get my spread sheets up to snuff and, of course, Ivan time.

Good morning everyone, thanks for the Daily and map today Rich!  I will pass on crocodiles, a diet Stewart's root beer would be good and a good day for our environment.  Plant a tree while we still can.  I thought Talkeetna was a stop on the train trip from Denali to Anchorage if it was I didn't take photos for our brief stop to stretch our legs.   A sweet quote.   A savory galette would be good but not in the hot weather we will be having for a couple.  Pan fried Walleye (from store) for dinner tonight.   The Casino would be good minus bitters and yes on the SB.

Thanks for keeping the Cares and Celebrations reports for us each day   Congratulations for 18 years with Cruise critic Sandi and I am happy to read you are feeling somewhat better!    Prayers for Chuck, Tana, Terrie, Jacqui and everyone else who are ailing or grieving.     Prayers for all in war zones through no fault of their own, the people of Ukraine, the remaining hostages and the innocents in Gaza.

We had a day of rain yesterday and a few storms to roll through today.  Yesterday a tornado touched down in the outskirts of my town downstate but it was very short-lived.   I hope to get outside to work today if we can dodge the thunderstorms due.   Have a lovely Monday!  Nancy

Thank you for today’s FR & D, Rich! The sun is just clearing out this morning’s marine layer and a lovely breeze greeted Bindi & me when we headed out for this morning’s walk. Yesterday was spectacular, but still no rain. All forecasts still mention the possibility, but I will believe it when I see it.

Vanessa, thank you for keeping up with all of us. Glad you & BFF are doing ok.

Gym, Bindi walks, chores, pruning my Bird of Paradise - I have only had one blossom this year & I expect it is just too big for its britches. 😎 Pool time, too.

Prayers for all who need our support.

Cheers to all who are celebrating. I loved seeing pictures of your Dads. I lost mine when I was four years old, so I only have a couple of memories of mine.

@durangoscots Happy Birthday, Susan!

Yealands Sauvignon Blanc S1 Single Block 2022

I chose the most recent vintage of this vintner’s flagship wine. Great info on their website. Fairly easy to find & reasonably priced. Online prices start at

$14.00.

Winemaker’s notes

Thinking differently is what we do at Yealands. Crafting award-winning wines in harmony with nature has seen us lead the world in sustainable winegrowing. But most importantly, it means great tasting wines which don’t cost the earth.
Our Single Block wines are the purest expression of our land, showcasing the distinctive flavours from individual vineyard blocks.
TASTING NOTE
Bouquet:The nose is pure and expressive showing vibrant herbal and blackcurrant leaf notes,. There is an underlying citrus aroma that provides a nice, lifted finish on the nose.
Palate: Our S1 Sauvignon Blanc is concentrated and elegant, it shows great texture with a lively acidity and mineral drive, giving the wine exceptional length.
Food Match: Enjoy with both fresh and cooked seafood dishes including freshly shucked oysters, prawns, green lipped mussels and creamy scallops.
Dietary Information: Suitable for vegetarians, vegans and a gluten free diet. Cellaring Recommendation: Enjoy now, or cellar 2-4 years.
BLOCK CHARACTERISTICS
Vineyard: Seaview Vineyard, Awatere Valley, Marlborough
Soil: Wind-blown loess
Elevation: 125-160m above sea level
Aspect: North facing gentle undulating slopes
Distance from the Ocean: 4,500m
Taste Profile: Our S1 block Sauvignon Blanc comes from a sun soaked site, moderated by cool, coastal breezes on our Seaview Vineyard. The subsequent style and flavours reflect this terroir, with a lush, full palate, balanced by mouth-watering acidity
VINTAGE
TVintage 2022 was an exciting classic Marlborough harvest. A warm Spring secured good fruit set throughout the region. Some challenging weather in February was rewarded with clear warm days throughout harvest. The cool crisp nights and warm days in March retained vibrant acidity while allowing flavours to develop fully. A slow and steady ripening resulted in beautifully intense and structured wines.
Our S1 Sauvignon Blanc parcel was picked at perfect ripeness, allowing the wine to show the classic flavours and aromas the wine is known for.
VITICULTURE
Viticulturist: David Sheard
Vine Age: Planted in 2007
Irrigation: Monitored daily with soil moisture probes Nutrition: Seaweed, compost and mulching
WINEMAKING
Winemaker: Natalie Christensen
Harvest Date: 29th - 30th March 2022
Winemaking Analysis: Alc 12.5% pH 3.47 TA 7.74 RS 2.7g/l
The carefully harvested fruit from our S1 block was de-stemmed, chilled and gently pressed. The juice was cold settled for 72 hours, after which the clear juice was racked off. A long, cool fermentation with a specialist Sauvignon Blanc yeast followed to capture and enhance the distinctive fruit flavours created by the S1 block. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was racked, stabilised and filtered before bottling.

Good morning.  Happy Monday.  Thanks for the Report.

We've got a heat warning.  It could get to 32C (90F) and humid.  Chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.  Don't think I'll be doing much.

I don't like root beer, I guess crocodiles need a day and we need to combat drought, although I'm not sure how.

I like the quote.

I hope I'll like the meal.  The drink and wine sound good to me.

Prayers for everyone on the Care List.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a great day.  Stay cool.

Thank you or the Reports!!

I love Root Beer, but don't know Stewarts Root beer...  I celebrate Crocs -- as long as they're far away from me!  And, combating drought...  Yes, but...  it happens and there is a time for rain and a time for drought!

I need to learn new Savory Galette recipes!!  I love a galette -- fruits and dairy...  but not often have a savory one...

Have a wonderful and fun day!!!

A fine drink for me to have at my current location. Last cruise on HAL I was playing the slots in the Casino. I won the jackpot when on the pay line three prunes appeared! 😀

Good sunny morning. It’s supposed to get up to 90 today and then get hotter tomorrow and continue all week, with a possibility of hitting 100 on Friday. I’d love to be in Alaska right now.
Stay cool and drink lots of water.

Blessings and prayers to all on our journey.
