Karen450 Posted June 27 #1 Share Posted June 27 We will be on a Silhouette cruise at the end of the summer beginning in Rotterdam. We were recently on the Silhouette’s first disembarkation in Rotterdam. Needless to say, it was not our usual Celebrity experience. Lines were long, hampered by limited access to elevators and escalators to reach street level. It was recommended to us by ship staff to carry off our bags as the baggage area was highly disorganized. Have things improved? How was embarkation? (We had started the cruise from Amsterdam which was a breeze.)

Fawkes66 Posted June 27 #3 Share Posted June 27 Embarkation and disembarkation this month were a breeze in Rotterdam. I disembarked in Rotterdam from the Silhouette and had no trouble, no lines, not for elevators or the porters. The porters were very accommodating and friendly. I had an early embarkation time (no lines at all) and a late disembarkation time. I do think it depends on your embarkation and disembarkation times. 2
Rare KKB Posted June 27 #4 Share Posted June 27 Next time you might post a question like this under European ports. But it was easy peasy.
Tom and Ingrid Posted June 27 #5 Share Posted June 27 We sail out on July 28th on the Silly, so this is good timing. Good to hear it is relatively smooth both directions. We can easily carry off our luggage, so we might still do that.
Denny01 Posted June 28 #6 Share Posted June 28 Agree with the ease of embark/disembark in Rotterdam. we stayed a few days prior in Rotterdam and Loved it! Stayed on the island near the terminal in the Room Mate Bruno, walking distance of the terminal. Lovely. Flew into AMS and trained to Rotterdam. Easy and cheap. Rare Jim_Iain Posted June 28 #7 Share Posted June 28 I've done both embarkation and disembarkation. Very smooth experience. Conveniently located for tram or subway access to the train station. Travel time to Schiphol is similar from Rotterdam or Amsterdam Also trains between Rotterdam / Schiphol / Amsterdam run about every 12 minutes. 1
CelebrityMan Posted July 8 #8 Share Posted July 8 We just passed through Rotterdam cruise terminal in May. We found it to be a easy-peasy experience. Very smooth, no lines, no waiting, altogether pleasant. CM
