mattR Posted July 12 #1 Share Posted July 12 Is there a way to get your phone/tablet connected to the stateroom tv's?
Rare LACruiser88 Posted July 12 #2 Share Posted July 12 Yes, we do it all the time. We bring universal remote to change input to HDMI. We also bring the below adapters. TV has to be on a Live channel before changing the input. The most difficult part of the procedure is getting the HDMI cable connected to the back of the TV 1

Rare 1025cruise Posted July 12 #4 Share Posted July 12 There's no way I would have been able to get to the HDMI ports on the TVs in my cabin on the Enchanted Princess.

We were recently on the Enchanted and we're able to connect to the TV's HDMI port. It was not easy, but it can be done.

Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted July 13 #10 Share Posted July 13 We just got off the Island about a week ago. I tried every way in the world to get to the HDMI ports on either of the TVs. They were mounted into a "wall inset" which totally prevented access. I noticed that I *could* switch inputs with the Princess-supplied remote...wasn't going to need a universal remote but the only way I could have gotten a cable plugged in was to lift the TV off of the wall from its' "U-bracket". Possible...but I was visualizing the room steward walking in..."SIR...WHAT ARE YOU DOING? SECURITY!" 2
555 Posted July 13 #11 Share Posted July 13 On of the last cruises on the Enchanted I could no longer switch to the HDMI input using the TV's toggle. In past years it was possible. It did allow me to switch to USB though which allow connection from a hard drive. Accessing the HDMI or USB inputs is always a chore but the TV can be bent out just enough to reach behind. Rare 1025cruise Posted July 13 #12 Share Posted July 13 My next question is why go through all of this trouble, when obviously Princess doesn't want you to? Yes, I understand the limited TV/movies on the provided system. But why risk ruining the TV? I had an issue with one of our TVs in our suite. I was thinking it was a loose HDMI cable, but couldn't get my hand behind the TV to fix it. Mentioned it to the suite concierge, and he just rebooted it, which solved the issue.

We're just using the equipment the way it was designed to be used for our purpose. We've rebooted our TV many times and we had nothing to do with causing the problem.

Our cruises typically range from 30 to 60 days at a time. The ship's TV gets really boring after awhile. It's great to be able to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc...

If we didn't bring many of our own movies we'd be re watching many of them over.
t&atravel Posted July 13 #16 Share Posted July 13 So has anyone else had trouble hooking to a TV on the Island Princess like @Rick&Jeannie? We’ll be on the Island for 54 days in Mar 26 (with you @LACruiser88?) and would like to be able to have access.

Other cabins may not have the TVs mounted in the same manner.

We have not been on the Island Princess in some time and do not remember if we streamed via the HDMI port? We will be on the Coral Princess this October (sister ship) and will hopefully be streaming. I'll post on my "Live" thread re: my ability to do so.
