Except I am quarantined in my cabin till I am fever free for 24 hours. Medical had to escort me my cabin to make sure I went there.

And that is a proper course of action to protect other passengers and crew - which they would also take if you had contracted norovirus.

I first had a sore throat embarkation night. Next morning still had it. I tested myself and it was negative. By the afternoon I was tired. Unlike some of you I don’t want to pass this to others. We are also traveling with a cousin who is immune-compromised. Also you never know who you are near whom Covid could be devestating.

If more people would behave like you did fewer of us would get ill.  I hope you feel better soon.

we've had covid 3 times so far, and we didn't have a fever with any of them.

My parents also had covid 3 times, and only had fever with their 2020 variant.

Not having a fever didn't make us less contagious.

I agree with you about the fever. I don’t know why they think if I am fever free I can go out and about.  I was just released from isolation and told to wear a mask and try not to get too close to people. I’m sure I am still contagious as it has only been 3 1/2 days since first symptom (sore throat Saturday night till now at 8:11 am). Might be one reason it spreads on a ship; releasing people too soon.  I did tell medical my sore throat was a 10 but now is a 6. They said good there was improvement. I feel it is still too much but I brought plenty of masks. Now I hope Dh doesn’t get sick!

In February 2024 while on the Enchanted I tested positive. I notified Medical and they advised me I was to isolate for three days from the onset of my symptoms. They called every day to check on me and on third day I was cleared to leave the cabin. They advised me to wear a mask when out and about. I had plenty of tests with me so I tested every other day and got a negative result on day 8. My husband tested every time I did and was always negative. He chalked his results up to clean living, great physical shape and lots of beer!

I got called every day too. Because I had a fever they gave me a thermometer to use. Sky Princess is so crowded that even though I am wearing a mask today it is hard to keep away from people. I haven’t cruised in summer in years.

I love your husband’s response even though it’s really not the reason. 😊

Might be that most people don't even report getting sick and don't wear a mask. So many people were coughing and sneezing and not even covering up, let alone wearing a mask.

When DH got a sore throat on our last day on Enchanted in June, he put on a mask right away, and even though he went on to develop a full blown covid, neither I nor our kid or my parents got sick, even though we (me and kid) slept in the same cabin with him, we all rode in the same uber, flew on the same plane, and then rode in the same car from the airport. All the while he was miserable and sick as heck... He even slept with a mask on on the cruise.

He was lying about the great physical shape and clean living but not about the beer😀

Wow. Sleeping with a mask on!  He probably doesn’t toss and turn too much. Medical center nurse I saw said my Dh didn’t need to wear a mask in our cabin. I was surprised but didn’t think to tell Dh he should. I know mine would never sleep with it on but is wearing it out everywhere. Today he has been sneezing a bit here and there. 😱. I didn’t have that so hopefully he isn’t coming down with it!

he does not. He is sleeping in a very elevated position, so he has no choice but to remain semi-seated when sleeping. 😞 Plus, I wouldn't call it sleeping - he must have been awake all night long anyway.

We didn't wear a mask around him. We only make sick people wear them. 🙂

Adjustable beds are amazing - that and pre-emptive self-medication ... firm believer in both

Received a notification under my door this morning with a very nice amount of FCC to be used within the year and a sorry for my inconvenience. I will put it towards my cruise already scheduled for next June.

Great news!  They already added it to your account?

That’s speedy service.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Not on my account yet. Went to guest services and they told me turnaround day. Sure, after I get off the ship!  At least I have it in writing!

Yes, it is proof.  Some have said it was on their account before they got off, others have had to wait for accounting to post.

Consistency!  😆

Good to hear that they are still giving FCCs when folks have to isolate.  Hope you enjoy the remaining days of your cruise.

For me…5 days from onset of symptoms.  They didn’t test me again.  But I wore a mask for the remainder of the cruise and flight home.  Just me…

14 years ago I was on a 14-day South American cruise.  After couple days of cruising a lot of people were coughing almost non-stop everywhere on the ship all day.  After a few more days "a lot of" became the majority.  No one was wearing a mask during entire cruise, and there was no overhearing or indication that anyone was mandatory-isolated by the ship management or self-isolated.

When we were in Japan (a land tour), we saw hundreds of local wearing masks in public places all over cities and hotels.

well, 14 years ago it wasn't exactly right after a pandemic... Although 13 years ago in winter we did have a lot of swine flu going around. I remember it because I was about to give birth, and my co-worker came to work while being barely able to even sit, horribly sick with swine flu, and I had to train her on my duties before departing on a maternity leave a couple of days later. Ugh. I told her to go home and I wasn't training her while sitting a foot away from her.

14 years ago we didn't wear masks anywhere. Even 5 years ago we weren't wearing them.

However, now we still wear them when we fly, and we still wear them when we get sick (not with a cold) and don't want others to get sick.

This is exactly the reason why I wrote my post!  What’s the difference?  I purposely wrote about my Japan tour (I forgot to mention it was also way more than 4 years ago), because common sense is always the same, and certain group of people have been consistently applying it on daily basis for all aspects of their lives.
