Coral Princess in Panama Canal Balcony Question

We previously did LA to FLL on the Island Princess.  This time, we are sailing on the Coral, her sister ship.  Someone reported on another site that they were told they would not be allowed to use their balcony during the actual lock transits due to the cables used to guide the ship.

This was one of our favorite parts last time we had a balcony. We walked around for some parts but loved watching the walls go up and down from our balcony.

Has anyone experienced this on either ship and if so, what cabins are not usable during the locks?

I recall that passengers on one deck of the Island were not able to use their balconies during the transit. I believe it was the aft cabins added on the Promenade deck

On Island Princess, it is the BE category cabins that receive the notice they cannot use balconies during the canal transit. It does not affect other categories.

Is that only deck 7 BEs or also deck 8 BEs ?

We transited Panama on Coral last year.

Fortunately Coral does not have the deck 7 cabins.

We didn't hear of any restrictions on Coral .....but as we were higher and mid ships we wouldn't have been notified even if there were restrictions.

An earlier post said only forward cabins. We are aft in Deck 8…..the photo shows plenty of people on Deck 8 balconies.

This restriction is only for BE cabins, aftward, on Deck 7 (Promenade) on Island Princess, according to a notice when booking any cabin on a Panama Canal sailing. Deck 8 (Emerald) is not affected.

BTW, on a trip through the locks last year, one of the cables snapped when we were onboard. It was LOUD and scary. Kind kept me off my balcony on deck 8 for the times we were in the locks.
