Rare craig01020 Posted August 15 #1 Share Posted August 15 During the booking process for a recent cruise there was no option to select bed configuration. On my Cruise Vacation Receipt it states: Possible Bed Configuration: 2 LOWER TWIN BEDS - CONVERTED TO QUEEN Does this mean it's a queen bed by default? If so, I won't need to call. Thanks. cruiseguy1016 Posted August 15 #2 Share Posted August 15 Regardless of how you want the beds configured, calling will do no good. If the beds are not configured the way you want them when you get on the ship, talk to your room steward and he/she will arrange them the way you want them.
Rare brillohead Posted August 15 #3 Share Posted August 15 Everything defaults to "beds together" even if you are able to make a request to have them separate. If you want otherwise, just let the room attendant know the first day (you can leave a note on the bed if you don't see the attendant).
smokeybandit Posted August 15 #4 Share Posted August 15 I believe all cabins that have beds that can separate are the size of a king when combined. A few cabin categories have queens, but those cannot be separated.
leaveitallbehind Posted August 15 #5 Share Posted August 15 From the RCCL FAQ's: All staterooms and suites have Royal King size beds which may be converted to two single beds. Some staterooms are configured in an L shape which prohibit the conversion of the twin beds into a Royal King size bed. Stateroom beds on all Royal Caribbean International ships are automatically configured together and should you wish to request for the beds to be separated, contact your travel advisor, or speak to your stateroom attendant upon arrival.

Royal refers to that configuration as a "Royal" king. However, if you measure the configuration, it measures out as "California" king sized (72" wide compared to the standard 76" wide king)

shipgeeks Posted August 15 #9 Share Posted August 15 Two or three days before your cruise, you will receive an email re "Welcome Aboard" or similar. Open it that day, and you will find a questionnaire which includes bed setup as well as medical equipment requests. If you want the king bed, you don't need to do anything. If you want "beds apart", indicate that, and send it back that day.

We used to get them all the time until last year when they just stopped coming. Edited August 15 by orville99
