The lunch menu looks pretty similar to dinner . Is PG lunch only on sea days? If they don’t change the price lunch looks like a much better value but it will probably catch up by next year.

Only on Sea Days.

Not that it's to disprove me...

I loves me a good Dive In burger. But the old PG burger was fan-freakin-tastic.

@Woofbite PG chef on the NS last Nov/Dec and PG chef on K'dam Dec/Jan said the Pinnacle burgers are steakburgers ground fresh on the ship.

And the bacon jam is a game changer.

The blue cheese in the pinnacle is so much better than what you find in the lido or MDR.

I'm glad you caught that!  I thought the "oz" was "00".  We're on the Rotterdam in November and PG is on our itinerary already.  At least they're not messing with the candied bacon :classic_biggrin:

But the presentation of the candied bacon on the Rotterdam this summer was dismal compared to its presentation on the Konigsdam in 2021 when it had rosemary garnish on the clothesline.

Note to self, pack some rosemary :classic_biggrin:

I like the Dive burger better than the PG one. Dive one is more a classic burger, PG bit too fancy for me. But taste is a personal matter.

It’s still alive and well on Koningsdam. This was last week

This is my prediction for Pinnacle Lunch, very soon they will see over booking for Pinnacle Lunch due to offering Evening Meal at lunch time and lunch time prices so they will raise the price to be very close to the evening price. Then suddenly the Pinnacle will be a ghost town for lunch. At this point one of two things will most likely happen. They will scratch their heads and say what should we do and go back to a similar lunch time menu with a lower price but higher than current pricing of $19.00 or they will say no more lunch time Pinnacle. Freeing up extra Crew that they don't really have anyway. Sadly I suspect the 2nd of No more Pinnacle Lunch which I will miss.

But on a side note I have been impressed with the Main Dining Room lunches. They are changing the menu almost daily with some very good options. We spoke with one of the Executive Chefs as we were leaving the MDR on our first sea day and I complimented him on the new menus and the quality. There are some upsell items on the lunch menu but I can see that expanding to offering what use to be the Pinnacle lunch.

I would suggest that they will discover the "if it aint broke don't fix it" situation. The "Pinnacle" burger will be back on the menu in very short order. They will also put the lobster dumplings back on the dinner menu. They will probably raise the lunch price but not so much as to make it prohibitive. I may be an optimist here but remember the Pinnacle is the only "specialty" restaurant open for lunch on all ships on sea days They will want it to relieve other venues when the ship is literally full. We see many comments that the menus are stale and then when they change the inevitable cries that someone's "Favourite"  has been removed. Then of course there will also be those accusing HAL of "cutting corners" or "Nickle and Diming". I'm not a HAL "fan boy" I've only been on one 11 day cruise with HAL, to go with cruises on Celebrity and Viking. We have a very long (43 day) HAL cruise next year and we are hopeful for a fabulous voyage not mired in "What HAL used to do" and never comparing against other cruise lines. Our only criteria is "was it worth the price?"

True.  it's personal.  I agree with you about the Dive In burger.  I prefer the old fashioned white bun.  And it's cheaper! 😄

No Steak Tartare? No Mushroom Soup? No Tenderloin with Lobster Dumplings? No Not-So-Classic Baked Alaska? No Chocolate Souffle?  I have always enjoyed the Pinnacle Grill but I'm very disappointed in the discontinued above-mentioned dinner items. I'm sure I'll continue enjoying the Pinnacle experience with good friends, but it just won't be the same.

Thanks BlackDuck and CrewNews. Is it available to book for sea days for the entire cruise upon boarding, or only by the day, morning-of? Thanks.

If it is the same as it was on my cruise, once on board, you can book as many times on sea days as you like. Lunch is quite popular so you may want to sort that soon after boarding. There is a podium up on the lido not far from the entry to the spa.

Thanks again BlackDuck, we're on the same cruise next March.

Cheers, I'm going to keep and eye on the menu. We have enough sea days that getting a lunch reservation shouldn't be pressing, unless you have a specific day in mind.

No specific lunch days in mind currently, and thus far I've booked one Pinnacle and one Canaletto dinner on the long portion of our cruise SYD-SEA.

Back to an earlier question - in checking out another post where you toured some folks around last week in Victoria, there was a blurb in the daily saying that US citizens were to clear customs between 11:30am-3pm onboard, while the ship was still docked in Victoria, then were not to leave the ship thereafter; that answers my question about where/when that happens for US folks. Makes sense.

Thanks for all your help!

Will so miss the steak tartare.  Every Pinnacle grill dinner, and I have had many, I start with the wedge salad with no onion and a side of the baby beets. Then the appetizer size steak tartare with no onion and a chocolate soufflé for desert.  We were on a 14 night cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam last year.  We had 6 nights in Tamarind, 7 nights in PG and one night in Canaletto.  Will be in the only Pinnacle Suite next year on Nieuw Statendam.  I plan to let the Neptune Lounge Concierge know that I want the steak tartare and chocolate soufflé for my nights there.  Fingers crossed it can happen.
