jabrown40 Posted September 18 #1 Share Posted September 18 We are on a 12 night Panama Canal cruise in March, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out today that Club Orange was still available for our sailing. I'm very excited to try it, I like the idea of the dedicated, smaller restaurant and lounge, but the best part was the verandah upgrade, because we were able to switch from a regular verandah, to an aft facing balcony! Looking forward to seeing a sunset from time to time or just watching the wake in the moonlight. Does anyone know if they still have the complimentary mimosas at breakfast?
Rare Ready2go11 Posted September 18 #2 Share Posted September 18 Yes they do. You can order from room service or enjoy in CO dining room
kirkc Posted September 18 #3 Share Posted September 18 The CO dining room is nice. The smaller venue helps to make meals special. Just to clarify, the is no CO lounge. The only special lounge is the Neptune Lounge that is available to NS guests only. Enjoy your cruise!
swin26 Posted September 18 #4 Share Posted September 18 As said no special lounge, but the small bar directly opposite the club orange dining room, with tables along the windows has great cocktails and is a nice place to have a pre dinner cocktail 2
jabrown40 Posted September 18 Author #5 Share Posted September 18 I think that was the bar area I saw in the deck plans, I also thought it would be a nice area for a pre dinner drink. 1
Rare 0106 Posted September 18 #6 Share Posted September 18 Just off the Rotterdam with CO. We asked to be seated in the same servers area for the entire 14 day cruise and were accommodated. Luckily, we had the best server, Wi, who has been with HAL for a long time. Many may remember him from the Prinsendam. There is also complimentary fresh squeezed OJ available at breakfast. We loved sitting by the window and having a cocktail before dinner from the Half Moon bar, The service from Joann was excellent.
jabrown40 Posted September 18 Author #7 Share Posted September 18 Is his name pronounced "why" or "we"? Our cruise is 6 months away, wonder if he'll still be there. Any tips for getting a seat by a window?
Rare 0106 Posted September 18 #8 Share Posted September 18 His name is pronounced we. There are no seats by the window in the CO dining room. The seats by the window are where we sat for pre dinner drinks. On the right of this photo are seats by the window; on the left is the CO dining room. Rare POA1 Posted September 19 #10 Share Posted September 19 You'll enjoy the CO dining room. The bar table area outside is serviced by the Half Moon Bar. You can get mimosas at breakfast in either the CO dining room or from room service.

Suncitycruiser1925 Posted September 20 #13 Share Posted September 20 Capachinos are also complimentary for breakfast in Club Orange Dining Room and I thought they were very good. I had a mimosa, cappuccino and fresh squeezed orange juice each morning. We loved the smaller venue Dining room for breakfast an dinner. An upgrade on your cabin is an added plus. You are fortunate they still had availability for Club Orange.
NCTribeFan Posted September 20 #14 Share Posted September 20 Had CO on the Rotterdam 150th Anniversary sailing last year (plus 2 5-nights added on after). Absolutely loved it! Never had a drink at that little bar near the dining room since we always went to the Pinnacle bar. Sad to say, I can't remember the names of the two bartenders there, but they were great. I wasn't that found of the male Maitre D, but really liked the female. She was friendly, efficient, and helped us with some specialty dining reservations that were pre-booked but messed up when we checked on them after boarding. Really enjoyed her. So spoiled by having that separate dining room that I have to have it now on Pinnacle-class ships. Unfortunately, though, that class ship doesn't have my favorite "large interior" cabins, so the upgrade for that doesn't have the value it has for me on Vista & Signature class.
jabrown40 Posted September 20 Author #15 Share Posted September 20 So if I have the Have it all package, the cappuccino, mimosas, and freshly squeezed juice don't count as one of my 15 drinks?

No it will not count. You will not need to give them your card when you order these CO included beverages.

She was great. I was getting lunch at Dive-In one of the days and she was up there serving the orders in addition to her CO duties. 😱
Retiring2023 Posted September 28 #18 Share Posted September 28 Is the dress code in Club Orange the same smart casual dress code as it is in the main dining room?
Cruise Suzy Posted September 28 #19 Share Posted September 28 2 minutes ago, Retiring2023 said: Is the dress code in Club Orange the same smart casual dress code as it is in the main dining room? Yes. And "dressy" attire on the nights when they have the gala menus.
CruiseSter1ing Posted September 29 #20 Share Posted September 29 Our first cruise with HAL was on the Rotterdam a few months ago to Iceland. We did Orange. And now, I would only do that again! So much so, that while on board we wanted to book the 35 day R/T San Diego in February for Tahiti, but could not get us into Orange so booked it for the following year in Feb. 2026. That cruise will be on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We understand it's not a dedicated dining room, but a sectioned off section of the Main. Can someone who has been on a Non-dedicated Orange dining room comment on their experience - wait staff, ambiance, etc ?

There is a dedicated line for CO though. As my experience was in 2021, with a 1/2 filled ship, it is probably not relevant but the service was excellent.

Rare Crew News Posted September 29 #23 Share Posted September 29 As noted above, there is a dedicated line (right side of hallway) and a dedicated podium for MDR check-in on the Nieuw Amsterdam. I learned five months ago that Club Orange diners were given the best tables available and not in a dedicated area. You can also choose any table that is not reserved.
