Sayra Posted July 26, 2016 #151 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Dill pickles. Although sometimes I put a pile of pickles from the grill in a bowl and eat them onboard, they just aren't the same.
satxdiver Posted July 26, 2016 #152 Share Posted July 26, 2016 We live in San Antonio so when we get home it is off to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for a good Mexican (not TexMex) dinner followed by a couple weeks of Mexican food for dinner at home. I love the spicy food and find the ship food to be a bit bland.

The Wilkies Posted July 26, 2016 #154 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Farmhouse Cheshire cheese. The "plastic" cheese on board is horrible.
Sarapdot Posted July 26, 2016 #155 Share Posted July 26, 2016 I am a pretty healthy chef at home, I like to roast and sautee veggies without oil and eat over plain rice. So for me I guess I miss my "boring" food. I do also like lots of hot sauce!!

I love the spicy food and find the ship food to be a bit bland. Only a "bit" bland? Princess has no idea what "spicy" means! I like their food for the most part but I really do wish they had some spicy dishes.
Thrak Posted July 26, 2016 #157 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Farmhouse Cheshire cheese. The "plastic" cheese on board is horrible. You just have to go to the Platinum and Elite lounge on the night they have the Stilton. :)

Suppose because it's basically mass catering, they go with the middle ground, ie bland
MSBerliner Posted July 26, 2016 #160 Share Posted July 26, 2016 The absolutely first thing we did when we arrived at the Vancouver airport after our Alaska cruise was to find a STARBUCKS and finally enjoy a cup of really good coffee!!!!!!! This is NOT a joke! I do not understand why ships of several fleets sail without decent coffee to drink on board. For gosh sakes this is the 21st century. rdcruisin Posted July 26, 2016 #161 Share Posted July 26, 2016 I also miss potato chips while on board. I've found potato chips on Holland America and Royal Caribbean. And I was one happy camper
Sascol Posted July 26, 2016 #162 Share Posted July 26, 2016 Definitely Buffalo Wings. The spicier the better. I have seen them on occasion while on a cruise but they are not worth the calories there because they're nasty.
SteveH2508 Posted July 26, 2016 #163 Share Posted July 26, 2016 A strong cheddar and Marmite sandwich and then down to the pub for a couple of pints of proper, English, cask-conditioned bitter (Youngs, Fullers or Shepherd Neame are all within crawling distance). kcfoxy Posted July 26, 2016 #164 Share Posted July 26, 2016 First meal off the ship, Mexican food such as a Carnitas Platter...don't have a huge appetite after all the food shipboard but really miss good Mexican fare. As for a single item? Be they bangers or 'American' style link pork sausages, our 15 day Royal TA last Fall yielded up some nasty sawdusty replicas, good on first bite with a promising snap and fair seasoning, then a pasty suet and flour filler at the end. Meh
scott4020 Posted July 26, 2016 #165 Share Posted July 26, 2016 We have done a Thanksgiving cruise the last two years. I love the food in the MDR but Princess's Chefs have zero idea about American Thanksgiving Dinner, so It's a real turkey dinner for us and pumpkin pie. ExpatBride Posted July 26, 2016 #166 Share Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) Buffalo seitan or tempeh fajitas. I'm usually starved for protein and tired of eating pasta and curry by the time I disembark. Edited July 26, 2016 by ExpatBride

amymoore Posted July 26, 2016 #169 Share Posted July 26, 2016 On our first cruise as a couple, all we could think of on the way home was comfort food. It was cold, so the choice was chicken and dumplings. Did I mention we are from the south?

cabinfever60 Posted July 27, 2016 #174 Share Posted July 27, 2016 One of the first things i want is a cold beer with some fried catfish fillets, garlic mashed potatoes, some coleslaw & some texas toast. Then after i wake up from my nap from being full i want some warm peach cobbler and french vanilla ice cream then a class of cold milk to wash it down. After that i will sit down for a while and wonder how and why i stuffed myself like that when i was on a diet !!!! I guess i can start the diet tomorrow, "right"?
