snoopy leogirl!!

Have a ? for you. Just read some posts for St. Maarten and wanted to see what your recommendation would be.

Do you recommend the Golden Eagle Catamaran ride or a private tour with Joan's Tours around the island???

There will be myself, husband and two daughters 16 and 14.

Just wanted to get your opinion.

Thanks!

Laurie

We will be in St Martin on November 11th. I understand that's a holiday.

1. We were thinking of renting a car (have done this there before), but I've read there would be a race around the island and some other activities. Should we stay in town this time? Cannot afford to miss the ship.

2. If we did stay in town, what celebrations might be going on?

Parasailing & jetskiing at Orient Beach near KonTiki -- this area is not the nude area though you might see a few topless. (Main nude area at south end of beach at Club O with yellow umbrellas past Pedro's).

Snorkeling at Dawn Beach (near P'burg) & Baie Rouge (French side, farthest from P'burg, along rocks on far right side)

Thanks for being soooo helpful. We are two moms traveling with 4 teen age kids and want to go to the beach for the day. Which one do you think will offer us the most for the day. Food, drinks, water toys, chairs, umbrellas and maybe some snorkeling all wrapped into one beach. Oh yes! I would like for it to be beautiful too. I hope I'm not asking for too much. Thanks Margie:)

My parents will be in St. Marin on Century in January and I"m trying to figure out what would be the best way for them to see the island? They'll be docking in Philipsburgh and I know that they won't be renting a car. THey're active but not into snorkling, but probably would be interested in going to a beach. Should they rent a cab or do a local tour?

Thanks!

Ela

We will be there on Monday 11/22, from 7:00am to 4:00pm.

We were born in Florida and lived here 40 years...so really the beach is just a so-so for us.

I would appreciate any idea you may have for us to do something different or see something we wouldn't see in Florida.

Or should I just go shopping?? I hear there a great deals!

thanks

Front Street is a shopping mecca. Marigot is a nice way to get a Paris feel. The beaches are popular.

what is there for kids to see and do that would be inexpensive?

Lots of people take their kids to the following places:

Butterfly Farm

St.Maarten Zoo

DIVI Little Bay Beach (kid friendly)

Walk along the boardwalk

The zoo is something you can skip because it really isn't all that even though people still go there. The other three things are really nice. And as you can tell, there really isn't much to do here. But its nice to visit. Have Fun! :)

Snoopy leo girl, help me. is there a hotel that has a casino in it or across the street or next door that also has nice swimming pools and is on the beach? I know there a few that are closed down for renovations or not operating any more. I want a room for the day, I have been on every website and I need reliable source of information. I dont want to book a room and pre pay without knowing for sure that the casino is open and the pool and beach are nice. My mom is older and cant walk far or alot. she will want to play slots and rest up in the air conditioned room while me and my neice swim and shop. Please help us!

Lucky for you, Maho Sonesta Hotel in Maho (close to the airport) has a casino (a small one) in the hotel and across the street from the hotel, there's a huge casino (one of the best ones). There's lots of amenities too. Pool, restaurants, entertainment etc. The beach is very nearby as well.
Hope this helps.

  • 2 months later...
Snoopy,

Thanks for providing all your information.

Don't know if you covered this one earlier but I was wondering about the status of the construction on Front Street. We visited in November and the street was pretty torn up down near the Guavaberry shop and Coloseum Casino.

We are scheduled to visit your island again at the end of June and am anxious to see the finished product.
