Odd annoying behavior

Unruly kids - which is why I tend to cruise when schools are in session!

Elevator rushers - so rude.

People who load up their plate with so much food at the buffet it's alarming. I can eat a lot, but yikes!

Here's something I've only seen once (thankfully). I was in the beginning of the buffet line and this woman ahead of me put some fruit on her plate. Then she ate it with her fingers, then LICKED her fingers, and then grabbed the next serving utensil from the next platter to serve herself. I promptly left the line and went to another side.

Lately I find that eating in buffets exposes me to things that freak me out! I'm starting to prefer the dining room for all meals when I cruise.

If I'm wearing heals, I'm taking the elevator regardless of it being 1 floor or 10.

What really annoys me is people taking huge helpings of everything that is at the buffet, when there is enough for 5 people to have a serving, you don't need to take all 5 servings, they will bring more out.

People who let their kids ages 8 & under help themselves at the buffet, they don't know how to use the utensils provided, therefore use their hands.

My biggest peeve is just as KS said. I can't stand people being rude to the hired help. Sure, if you ask someone 10 times for something & they don't do it, be a little agressive & report it nicely, you don't have to call them every name under the sun.

People complaining about EVERYTHING on the buffet being horrible. You are on a vacation with thousands of others, everyone is not going to like everything on the menu, I'm sure you can find something. Heck, there are things I can't stand at every fast food plast or restaurant I've been to. It doesn't make me complain about it though.

My next big peeve has got to be people with body oder that is so bad & they are stuck at the table or a table next to you. I never understand how they can have a spouse or mate that doesn't say anything.

I agree wholeheartedly about the elevator problems, but my DH looks otherwise healthy and has a knee replacement that doesn't do well on stairs (especially going DOWN). We would ride one floor. So, looks may be deceiving.

I look very healthy too but have had knee surgery & can't go up stairs. You're right, looks may be deceiving.

My wife and I were unfortunate to have a table of 4, every night we were on time. The waiter would wait a longer than needed period of time and we would finally be served. Just as we were waiting for main course, the other couple would show up. Yea you got it, we would be courteous to wait and always be the last to leave the dining room... Happened every night of the cruise. Couple always blamed it on going to other activities or shore excursions.

I agree with all of the above, except it doesn't bother me as much as you folks.

Buffet line-jumpers: I "fake" sneeze on them....BIG fake sneeze:D

Midnight buffet line-jumpers: I ask DH in a very loud voice, "Honey, am I wrong or is the end of the line over THERE?"

Elevator rudeniks: I sic DH on them, and he is like a snowplow getting off an elevator.

We avoid the pooldeck, and that's probably why I'm not burned out yet on rude behavior.

We eat alone: had enough weird and irritating tablemates.

I'm with the lady who wants to trip the dancing show-offs: I would, too. I might even get in their way and slow them down; but innocently, you know:D

The farting elevator: well, I just put up with that one, being married to the Fart King! :D

This is a great thread! Very amusing.

That's what really annoys me. Those people who want to tell you how much they make, how much their house cost, how important they are ect... I don't know these people and dont care. Why do they feel impelled to tell these intimate details to a total stranger?? It baffles and annoys me to no end.

People who show up at the wrong dinner seating and demand "their" table from the ones who are there at the correct seating. I have seen this happen several times and it happened to us on our last Carnival cruise in May. The lady had the nerve to say that it was our tough luck and we needed to leave "her" table. The Maitre D was kind enough to escort her out. Our poor waiters were shocked and so apologetic.

Elevator rushers are annoying too! Don't they know there would be more room if they would wait for people to exit the elevator???

Pcur, we must be distant relatives because I am married to a "fart king" too. My DH is one of the dreaded elevator farters. He usually looks at me and says "STEFANIE!!!" when someone gets in and obviously smells it.

I am so used to annoying adolescents that I barely notice when someone is rude to me. :) I guess there's an upside to everything.

But when someone is rude to a member of the crew or staff...............AAAACCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

I can't stand witnessing that, and always try to catch the eye of the poor worker and give them the "I understand that that person is an idiot and you are innocent" look.

LOL! I think almost every wife thinks that they are married to the "fart king"!:D

The exact same thing happened to me on the Pride, only it was ham the guy was eating with his fingers. Ewwwww!!!!

My pet peeve are people who try to get by the hand gel dispensers without using them, like they are cleaner than everyone else.

Actually, I will skip it if given a choice...but only because I carry my own hand sanitizer AND chlorhexidine wipes in my purse and have not only used them just prior to getting in buffet line, but also before I eat. I prefer to use my own products rather than the public dispenser, as I know what is in them and am the only person that has touched "my" ;) dispenser.

Forget the farters and one floor users. If I didn't love the ships so much, I would never go back to RCI. We feel so sorry for the orphans that RCI employ to go up and down all day in the glass elevators. These kids seem to work about 14 hours a day and most of them are obviously too tired to give us anything but a bemused look when we tip them.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned this one yet.

I get irritated at the people, who on disembarkation day, line up at the exit just to wait for their color to be called. the line snakes around everywhere to the point you can't get on or off the elevators or stairs. And it looks like its about 2100 people I'm irritated at....

You should be ok on your next cruise Wolf as you'll doubtless be in a wheelchair with a big padded cushion;)

I agree. Last year on my cruise, I was just getting over a broken foot. I had had the cast removed the week before my cruise, so although I didn't look handicapped, I could not climb stairs (even one flight) yet at that point.

ELEVATOR ORPHANS???????

Are there snipe on the RCI ships also?

Somehow, elevator orphans sounds like the plot of a bad mini series on TV or the sort of threat that parents use to get their 7 year olds to move on to then next activity.

Odd behaviour...... people on a cruise to Europe complaining that it is not just like home in the USA.

what I find odd and annoying is people who find it odd and annoying that some people take the elevator one floor. really now If I only go one floor on the elevator whats the big deal. I pay a full price to go on the cruise, there is no rule about elevator use, there is no suggestion that people not use the elevator for one floor. In the big picture if someone gets annoyed at me riding the elevator only one floor. I will say this to anyone who gets upset at this...

get a life and find a real problem to deal with

Wow. Here's someone who missed the spirit of this thread.

Not on a cruise, but on a flight home from Scotland last month - two people (unrelated, I think) got on the plane and took someone else's seat (aisle seats) and then started to argue when asked to move to the correct seat on their boarding pass. I've not seen that before, and stared at them both - hard!:D

I love it when people intentionally sit in the wrong seat and then play dumb when you bring it to their attention.....
