DonMaryCar Posted July 27, 2004 #101 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Ocrone and all the rest:) Thanks so much for posting about the shipboard credits. We are doing back to backs to Mexico in November and had inside cabin. Just got email from my cruise specialist from Holland American and they gave us the credit of $25 per person per segment for a total of $100. That is awesome now I can have more green apple martini's in the Crows Nest and not feel guilty. You guys are awesome with the information you share. He said they were not allowed to offer this promotion it must be requested. :D  :D
Lewis Clark Posted July 27, 2004 #102 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Great news! Thanks to this thread, my TA was able to get promo 7032 (for Mariners) at $100pp for our D category cabin! We're thrilled. Did I read correctly that the credit can be applied to our gratuity? That'll cover it for our 10-day cruise.....if we don't spend money on anything else, which we all know is pretty unlikely! Happy cruising.......
morriganfae Posted July 27, 2004 #103 Share Posted July 27, 2004
why is there such a difference on shipboard credits, some get 100.00pp others only get 50.00pp ????
My TA said it was the cabin size that determined the amount. We have an inside cabin so we only got 25.00 per adult rather then 50.00..none for my 10 yr old. My TA said it was only good for the first two persons in the cabin. But like my partner and I said...it is better then nothing!! Morriganfae~
jocelysue Posted July 27, 2004 #104 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Thanks to you I called Cruise Web from whom we booked our cruise. Don't know whether or not they are on the ball but they said HAL didn't know the numbers I ws referring to. On the other hand, "to show good will" they are giving us $25.00 each shipboard credit. Guess it's better than nothing which is what we would have got had it not been for this boeard. Should we try and barter some more or take the credit and be happy? After all, it's a bottle of wine per person.

So I now have a call into my TA to see if we can get an upgraded credit. I figure that it does not hurt to ask and since I'm not one for being shy about such things....I say go for it! pamcdon Posted July 27, 2004 #106 Share Posted July 27, 2004 My hubby and I will be on this cruise also in category VA on the Rotterdam deck. This will be our first cruise with Holland America and we are looking forward to it. I'll have to call my travel agent and ask them about the shipboard credits. I work at AAA, so I booked my cruise through them, of course! Happy sailing!!!!
divinggirl Posted July 27, 2004 #107 Share Posted July 27, 2004 The only consistency I've found inthis whole procedure with these particular credits is that they're only good for the first two people in the cabin. Everything else is so variable, not only do they make it up as they go along, but I truly think SOME TA's say no because it's extra work. Some of the reasons I've read for being denied the credit are ludicrous, they must think we're idiots. They don't know about these boards, I guess...
the2ofus Posted July 27, 2004 #108 Share Posted July 27, 2004 Thanks so much for the information about 7031/7032! I e-mailed HAL Saturday evening, giving them our booking # and Mariner # and requesting info as to how to claim the credit if the promo was available on our particular cruise (Westerdam 12/12). Today I received a reply from HAL Reservations stating that it was available and that they had credited it to my account. Hooray!! I guess I should mention that we are in a B cabin this time. Any other promos out there that I should check on? I'm on a roll now!!
BillandKateC Posted July 28, 2004 #109 Share Posted July 28, 2004 We booked our Oct Zuiderdam cruise thru AAA and we called out TA and she called HAL today and was able to get the $50 pp credit, so they are still offering the promo Bill and Kate
CRUISING ROMANTICS! Posted July 28, 2004 #110 Share Posted July 28, 2004 :) Thanks to the wonderful people who posted on this board, we were able to get the ship board credit too. I just called our on line travel agent today, he called Holland America and they gave us $100 for the two of us! I never knew there was such a thing and my TA didn't either but a simple phone call got us this promo. So thanks again for the wonderful tip! :)
mattR Posted July 28, 2004 #111 Share Posted July 28, 2004 I was able to get a $50 cabin credit for our inside cabin. Thanks to this board for informing me:) My question is how did the first person figure it out over at cruise addicts???

RCT Posted July 28, 2004 #115 Share Posted July 28, 2004 We are booked for the Zaandam on 9/4 for the Alaska Inside Passage. We booked this on 6/23. I called my TA a few days ago to check on this Promo 7031. She called Holland and was told it was for new bookings only. I asked her to call again because others had been getting this credit after being told the same thing. Again, it was denied (she says). Before I call HAL directly, I'd like some more feedback. Anybody get this deal after they booked an Alaska cruise for this year? This is our first cruise for our 30th anniversary. So it would be nice to have a few little more $$ for play. Thanks for any help. Rick
ncruiser Posted July 28, 2004 #116 Share Posted July 28, 2004 Did anyone get this promo working with VTG? I am thinking of booking with them but want to know if they have ok'd the promo shipboard credit. Is it $50 per person no matter what type of cabin? Thanks. MandyGirl Posted August 3, 2004 #118 Share Posted August 3, 2004 I've never had onboard credits before and have a question... When you are told over the phone that they were able to secure the onboard credits for you, do you normally receive a written confirmation of that as well? (I'm accustomed to having all of my travel documentation in writing, so I did not know if it is normal to NOT have this in writing). I booked through an online agency, and they tell online customers to use email... but after two weeks and no replies to my emails (that include booking numbers, Mariner numbers, ship, date, etc at the top for identification)... I finally gave in and just called. Of course they immediately told me to use email since I booked online, but I explained that emails were not getting an answer after waiting a week. On the phone I forgot to ask for written confirmation, and have emailed to ask for that, but still no response. Thanks for any insight...
MISSYLOU Posted August 3, 2004 #119 Share Posted August 3, 2004 SIL emailed our TA twice to request a credit and never got a response. She then called HAL and they told her it had been added to her account. I got an email confirmation on my shipboard credit and just called HAL today to verify. :)
MandyGirl Posted August 3, 2004 #120 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Thanks for your input! I'm guessing the cruise industry must be boomin' for TAs to not even email back. I had no problems with this online agency last year for our cruise, but this time is totally different.
MISSYLOU Posted August 3, 2004 #121 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Mandygirl We have also had good luck with our online TA but find that for this booking they have let us down in responding to emails. I would suppose when we all started posting about the credits the online TA's got swamped with questions, but I still feel like we all deserve the courtesy an email reply. Seems like it depends on who is responding to the emails as to what type of answer (if any) that we all are getting.
Orcrone Posted August 3, 2004 Author #122 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Thanks for the above suggestions. My TA says we have the credits, but I don't have anything in writing. I'll feel better when I call HAL tomorrow and they verify the credit.
