Tips - Euros or US Dollars

Going on an NCL Med cruise on July 1. Will be bringing extra $$$ for tips but should we bring Euros or US Dollars? What is best for the staff? If you go to a bar, they charge your card in US Dollars but can you still leave EUROS for tips?

It is fine to tip in US Dollars on board the various cruise ships such as NCL no matter where in the world they are sailing.

 

Most cruise lines already include an automatic gratuity on your bill for any drinks that you order.

 

And most cruise lines allow you to charge your tips to your ship board accout.

When we sailed NCL in April, we were really surprised that the 15% is not automatically added to drinks. Not sure if this was just because it's a Pride ship or if NCL does that across the board. On Millennium, for handing out personal tips at the end or room service, etc. We asked our Room Steward what she would prefered as she was able to get ashore some days, she said it really didn't matter, whatever we preferred. Now I'm sure she was just being polite, but I think sometimes we did give her Euros as well as $$$. Our Waiter was spending 4 or 5 days in his home country while Millie went into Dry Dock in Barcelona, so we would have loved Euros.
