Ft. Lauderdale Hotel

Ohio, there is all sorts of information on Ft. lauderdale hotels in the North American Homeports forum. Then scroll to East Coast departures. Unbelievable information there on hotels in that city.

We used the Renaissance on 17th St. Very nice hotel and probably the closest to the port of any of the hotels. We walked over to Port Everglades from there. Some nice restaurants, food/drug/liquor store very nearby. Walking across the causeway bridge was fun.

Used to stay at Best Western Motel and Marina Inn, directly across inlet from where most Princess ships dock BUT hurricane did a job on that motel - now closed. We've got 8 going 11/26 - 12/06, Emerald Princess, staying at Comfort Suites Airport & Cruise Port, 1800 So. Federal Hwy. Total $$$ per couple over 50 - $99.00. Nothing fancy but looks nice. Free shuttle from Airport to Hotel and from hotel to dock also free breakfast!

We just came off of the CB, stayed the night before at the Holiday Inn Express Convention Center. The room was good, clean, breakfast free, shuttle 6.00 pp to port...if you wanna sightsee, get a sun trolley map, stand outside the hotel by the street, and the bus comes every 15 minutes or so..you can ride it to the beach for 50 cents pp per trip, or get out at the beach and get on the one that goes to las olas.

also there is a shopping center about 2 blocks away from the hotel, coldstone creamery across the street, outback steakhouse by the shopping center.

Last year we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Convention Center, Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast buffet and the price was reasonable. This year I was able to find a special website that gave us a better deal at the Amersuites and they have free shuttle Holiday Inn charges six dollars a person.

We also had stayed at the Best Western Marina and really enjoyed our stay there hope someday it will be rebuilt. We love the water taxi in Fort Lauderdale easy and economic way to get around Fort Lauderdale.

We are planning on staying 3 nights before our cruise on Dec. 1, 2007 on the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas.

Does anyone know which cruiseline pier RCI uses?

Also not sure what hotel to book. Have looked at lots of sights but not sure what area would work, and be within our budget.

Has anyone stayed at teh Candelewood Suites or the Amerisuites in Ft. Lauderdale?

We stayed at Amerisuites prior to our cruise. It's a great location and shuttle to cruiseport. The only down side was that there was a charter group going on a jam cruise and they had not checked out of their rooms at 2:00pm:eek: . The hotel was in the process of removing them when we arrived. Needless to say, we were 6:00 getting into our rooms. The front desk allowed us to store our luggage and go get something to eat, but it was a madhouse!

We will be on the Jewel for March 30 TA and decided to stay 2 nights pre-cruise at Waterfront Inn near Beach Place. It's $90 with 10% because we belong to AAA there is no shuttle. Suggested cost of taxi from airport and to port is $20 each way.

Has anyone stayed here? I liked the idea of Beach Place with their many restaurants and music in the eve. The beach is just across the street.

Can someone recommend a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale for the night before the cruise? We don't want anything fancy, but we do want clean and easy to get to/from the airport and the embarcation point.

Thanks,

Ohiodoglover

What dates do you need a hotel? We can give specific recommendations if we know the dates.

Have a great cruise!

Another vote for Holiday Inn Express on 17th near Convention Center. Have stayed there several times and have never had any complaints with room or service. There's a Publix grocery store within a block or so up the street as well as several liquor stores within walking distance. A Walgreens within the same block as the hotel, several good restaurants across the street and a water taxi stand a block down across from the hotel. Trolley pick up outside the hotel that can take you to the beach as well as other places of interest.

I have the EXACT same question. :D

We're flying into FLL on 11/4/07 so we need a place to crash late Sunday night. Our plane doesn't land until 11:00 PM so no need for a pool or anything else fancy, just a nice clean bed!

Preferably close to the airport too so we can get there quick after we land.

we booked three nights pre cruise at teh comfort inn air port/cruise port South for $80 government rate..called hotel direct..probably after reading some of the reviews..we might be bedding down on the beach lol..but has transportation from airport and cruise port and full breakfast..and for three nights most of the other places were way out of our price range. thinking the money saved could go for drinks on board the Jewel on the 1st of Dec. grins.

The pier is relatively close to the airport in FLL, so most of the hotels that are close to the piers will still be an easy, short trip from the airport. I stand by HIE for clean and reliable.
