Soda Card Question

Recommended Posts

This is my first cruise on RCI...can you get bottled water with the soda card? Also where do you purchase the soda card? Thanks Tony

The card entitles you to juices outside of breakfast (everyone can get juice at breakfast) and soda "on the gun" : Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite. (and soda water)

You can bring your own bottled water, or maybe just a couple of bottles and then refill them throughout your cruise. As for the sodacard, take the advice of someone who has twice bought a soda card and not used it very much: Unless you are hanging out by the pool a LOT, or are out and about in the ship a LOT, OR you don't mind leaving your cabin everytime you want a refill, you may want to think twice about buying a soda card!!

You really need to be a BIG soda drinker to make this pay! You can purchase sodas by the can (or even fountain drinks at the bars) and it won't break the bank! The ship's water is fine--we only use bottled water when going ashore, if we need to take any at all!

When we were on the Freedom last month' date=' they had just stopped including juice in the package - fizzy drinks only :(

Soda cards were available to buy the first 2 days.[/quote']

I´m surprised to hear this, as it´s the first time to see this posted and it was still Soda and Juice last month. RCL´s website still says Soda & Juice.

Although the card is supposedly for Soda from the gun, I found the Crown Lounge and the sports bar up there as well always gave us the Diet Coke at least from a 2l bottle. It could be just a function of what we ordered.

I am not sure if there was a issue with the guns in those lounges or what it was, but we would go there, use our card and have them fill up a 1l insulated bottle with cary case we brought with us. Going that way we were able to have enough to drink with us all of the time.

We will do the card again on the next cruise as well.

It doesn't take many sodas to make the card pay for itself. If you drink 4 during a day, it will more than pay for its costs.

However, bottled water is not included in the price.

I just got off the Explorer Sunday and I purchased one soda package for two of us. It does not include juice anymore which I found out after I bought the dang thing.

I took 24 bottles of water and 12 Diet Pepsi's in our carry on bags. I only filled up our RCI bottle three times with their soda. I just used it to get ice. Used up all my water but still had 6 Pepsi's left at the end of a 9 day cruise.

We are thinking of purchasing the soda cards for my husband and myself on our cruise next month. RCCL web site currently says its unlimited soda or juice. But from what the previous post says the juice is now not included. When did this start and why is the website not refelecting this.

I *think* it started around the 17th June, we were going to get one for our son for the juice alone, he doesn't really like carbonated drinks - what a shame :(

As it turned out he was quite partial to virgin strawberry margeritas ;)

I'll probably get flamed as a fuddy-duddy for this, but the soda package is sold per person, not per couple or per group. It says specifically that it's meant for one person to use. The more people who "share" one package among a group, the more likely it is that they'll raise the price or stop having the option all together. I realize that soda isn't excactly a huge expense for the cruise line, but that's not the point. They give you one sticker for one person's Sea Pass. That's pretty clear.

So I paid $65 for 3 soda's (2 Sprite - 1 Diet Coke) and you are saying that I ripped them off? You can think what you want but trust me we didn't purchase one with the intent of abusing the system.

We dont drink Coke we purchased it to get ice all the time, if they will fill up a water bottle you bring with you let me know and I will be sure not to puchase the $65 cup next time so I dont rip them off. You can think what you want but if you ask me we didn't take advantage of it at all. 3 sodas is worth about $3 so I paid $21.66 per soda I think RCI won!

You should have paid $43.32 per soda. Shame on you. We all will end up paying for your reckless abuse of the soda program! :D

P.S. My wife took a sip of one of my sodas on a cruise last month. I still haven't forgiven her. :D

If I don't get the soda card what are my options for beverages with meals? Is anything included or would I have to purchase something then?
See, this is exactly what RC wants you to think: I either have to buy the expensive soda card, or I can never have a soda with my meal!

You can buy an individual soda with your meal, and you'll almost certainly spend less over the week than you would on the soda card! Unless you're going to drink soda at breakfast, lunch, and dinner AND several times in between, you're better off buying your sodas one at a time.

You can get tea, lemonade, coffee, or water at no charge anytime.

Depending upon whether they were tiny fountain sodas or cans, three sodas would've cost you about $5-6 -- and that would've been honest, where as the sharing issue is one reason the package costs so much.

We purchased the soda card for all 5 of us and will do it again on our cruise this August. I liked it for just the convenience. I'm pretty sure I got my money's worth, although I didn't count how many drinks per day I had. We each had a couple cups with dinner. I know I had several while laying out at the pool and DH had enough diet coke in the casino that the bartender knew to pour a diet coke with lemon when DH started walking towards the bar. (I think that might also mean DH spent too much time in the casino!) I know my mom got her money's worth of diet coke. At home, the first thing she does in the morning practically is to open up a can of diet coke! We would then have a couple sodas in the lounge at night - like during Quest or the shows, etc. But we don't really drink alcohol, so that makes a difference.

Now, I am not sure how many sodas the kids drank. They aren't the biggest soda drinkers at home, so not sure if they "got their money's worth" or not. But I was happy to know that they could get a drink if they wanted and not have to hunt me down and ask if they could buy a soda.
