Moving Monarch/Vision

I have heard that RCCL is moving both the Monarch and the Vision away from the west coast in 2008, And that Mariner is coming over to LA. I am assuming the Mariner will be doing the 7 day Mexican Riviera but is RCCL going to bring in a ship for the 3 and 4 days Mexican cruises that the Monarch currently does? Would hate for Carnival to have this fun itinerary all to themselves.

As of right now there are no mpublic plans to bring another ship out here for the three and four day market. Vision and Monarch are both going to the East, Monarch will be doing the Bahamas run and Vision will be in the Dominican Republic.

Hopefully, RCCL has a change of heart and brings us another ship for the 3-4 days out of LA. We like the short getaways.

Us west coasters are heartbroken they are taking Monarch away for the "shorty" cruises and have no plans in the near future to replace her.(yep, carnival will get the revenue, i won't be cruising them though). However, it is great they are sending the Mariner to us. We are most likely booking for 09'. We will miss Monarch to death, but welcome her big big sister with open arms!

The Carnival family of lines seems to care about the year round West Coast market more then RCI.

I like RCI but will suppot whatever line wants my business and if that is Carnival so be it.

Sorry to upset the fan boys(and girls).

We really enjoy the short cruises on Monarch...we did it once around this time last year and will go again in April...I would assume the decision to move the ship makes good business sense, but we are still a bit bummed...we have no plans to begin cruising with Carnival but its a bummer that they will have the only ships doing this route now

Does anyone know when the Vision is supposed to leave the west coast in 2008? The OP said it was in 2008, but I'm curious when...since I have a 2008 cruise booked on Vision.

I know all about the Monarch move because I was originally booked on the Monarch, but RCCL switched me to the Vision since the Monarch is relocating to the east (they gave me a 7-night cruise for the price of my original 4-night cruise :)). That's why I'm wondering about the Vision. Why would they have re-booked me on the Vision if it's moving too?

December 08 is the last of the Vision west coast cruises.

  • 2 weeks later...

My family and I did not care for the Monarch...Way to many passnegers on that size of ship. I'm not surpsised RCI is pulling her...and I'm not actually sorry to see her go. Maybe RCI will send us a newer build. Another thought is that a certain Mouse line will be coming to town.

I couldn't care less about the mouse and their cruise ships. They have no casino, and there are an overabundance of children onboard. :)

This is true..But theay are at least somewhat contained on 1 full deck and a couple pools. Other lines the run around like ants at a picnic.

By all means, I hope you get your wish.:) You didn't care for Monarch, while not our favorite, we thought Monarch suited our purposes for a short getaway and vacation interests. We have no interest in a Disney cruise, even if they do enter the SoCal market. :D

I never said I was interested in a Disney ship. I am hoping for a RCI new build. I just stated that a Disney ship was rumored.

I am going to miss the Monarch 3/4 nighters in a HUGE way...even if you don't go on them that often...you know you can get a cruise fix quickly if you need it!

DItto Ditto Ditto! So upset they have no plans to replace her :(
