Day Passes At Wyndam Cable Beach

Just wanted to let everyone know that I was at the Wyndam last week and went up to the front desk and bought day passes for the family. Adults were 15 and the kids were 7.50. There seems to be some talk here on the boards about whether they sell day passes or not. I just wanted to share my experience.

What a beautiful beach. This was my second time there and I'm going back soon. The only thing missing this time was the coconut man. Oh, well, maybe next time.

Yes. When I called the SHERATON, they said they (SHERATON) do not sell day passes anymore but their "sister" resort WYNDAM does sell the passes. We still went to the Sheraton as the Front Desk person told us to just come and walk to the pool. we did and had a beautiful time. Probably going back to stay there for a week now because they were so nice.

Just the use of their pool/facilities. The beaches are all FREE. You don't have to pay for those. Just walk through the lobby onto the beach. It's kind of a scam that I fell for the 1st time. A local guy selling drinks in coconuts told us that. Look for those guys. They cut a fresh coconut and fill it with a cocktail. Refills for $3. EXCELLENT!!!

So if I went to the Crystal Palace Casino for awhile, with my bathing suit under my clothes and then decided to go to the beach, all I'd have to do is walk through the lobby onto the beach, and it is free? The only time you have to pay is to use the Wyndham pools?

You can walk through the lobby of any Cable Beach hotel, or the casino, out onto the beach and stay there all day for free. They will even sell you drinks from their bar. Watch out for the guys trying to charge you $5 for use of chairs. That is bogus too. We talked to the local guys selling drinks on the beach, a couple staying at the hotel and a seasoned cruiser (30+ cruises) and they all said the same thing. The $15 gets you use of the pool, that's all. We paid $45 for 3 people for nothing because their pool was closed for renovations! Dumb! We walked all up and down the beach through 4 resorts and we were the only losers wearing the armbands that got us nothing extra.

No, you were not dumb! I would have bought the armbands too had you not posted back to me here. Thanks to you we won't get taken if we decide to go. Live and learn. Appreciate you getting back to me. :)

was wondering if the day pass gave you use to use their kayaks or anything or if that was an additional charge?

Thanks!

No! Just the pool and the shops in their hotel. There were no kayaks, etc... Just parasailing for $85pp. If you want something fun and all inclusive do Cable Breezes independently at their desk for $55pp with coupon in Nassau guide book ($60pp without) they even include waterskiing! All food, activities, amenities, beverages, alcohol, game room, kayaking, SAILING, ... everything. We're going in 2 weeks and definitely will try that this time.

Pass the word around when you see this question. I'd hate to see this "mis-information" continue to cost people money needlessly. My loss can be their gain!:D

Does the 15 include a chair? Or use of the bathroom? I would want a beach chair. I would pay the extra for that.

Just a comment about the "day passes" and the $15 fee. If you stay at the hotel they charge you that fee as a "resort fee" and it will show up on your bill for the room. The fee does more than give you access to the pool... Sorry that the pool was closed when you went, but have heard of more than one person "kicked out" of the pool area and not allowed a chair for not having the wristband. It is a seasonal thing and if you are there during a slow period you may get away with it, but during peak times they will be looking for the wristbands.

Here is the reply I received from them a few months ago

Day Passes are available at our Front Desk at a cost of $15 per person. Persons will receive a wrist band for identification purposes,a beach towel, and access to our beach & pool facilities and food & beverage outlets.

No food & beverage credits are included in this price.

Regards,

We just returned 2 weeks ago from our cruise and we originally went straight to the Sheraton to try and purchase day passes. They told us they do not have day passes, but rather a day room that was $99 for 2 people and $10 extra for each person. I was surprised by this, as I always had read that they had a $15 day pass. I asked them about this and they said it was the Wyndam that had the $15 day passes, but we could not use the Sheraton's pool. We walked next door to the Wyndam and purchased the $15 day passes and they told us we could use the Sheraton??? Go figure??

Are you saying that by purchasing the $15 day passes at the Wyndham you have the priviledge of using the Sheraton as well as the Wyndham?

That is what the people from the Wyndham told us, that we could also use the Sheraton (and this is what I had heard prior to our trip as well). However, the people at the Sheraton told us we could not use thier facility if we purchased the day pass at the Wyndham. We personally did not use the Sheraton's facilities because quite honestly we were having a blast at the Wyndham...we did go check out the beach at the Sheraton, which is nicer than the Wyndham, but all the beaches are public so anyone could use their beach. On a bit of a different note...my BIL and SIL (due to poor communications on all of our parts) ended up using all the facilities for free. We were planning on meeting at the Sheraton, with DH and I getting there first, but when we found out they didnt do day passes we went over to the Wyndham. Of course our cell phones didnt work so we couldnt get in contact with DH's brother so they still went to the Sheraton and walked right out on the beach looking for us...they couldnt find us but stayed put at the sheraton thinking we would be coming soon. We walked over to the Sheraton and found them and told them we had some chairs for them at the Wyndahm (yes, we saved them...I know, I know!!) they came back with us, but they choose not to go in and purchase the wrist bands...no one mentioned anything to them. (I am not saying I agree with what they did, we are all for being honest...but I cannot speak for them!!)

So are chairs free on the beaches or not, I'm confused, lol.

Chairs are never free.. beach or pool.. they are technically for those who are guests or pay for a day pass. Do people get away with using them, yes. Do some get asked to leave or pay? Yes.

The rule is... pay to use the beaches and pools (yes all beaches are free.. but you pay to have it cleared, raked, maintained, lifeguards, chaise lounges etc.. Restroom priveleges etc.

Do some people cheat the system.. of course.

If you are someone who takes changes.. then just walk thru the lobby and out to the beach. if you don't want to keep hiding your lack of wristband.. then pay at the desk and go relax. On a chaise.. on the beach .. at the pool.

You last paragraph is well put. I am a rule follower. I would pay but hey each to their own.

I've enjoyed reading this thread and by now one would think I'd have it all figured out, and have an ethical position on everyone elses beach practices;).

I assume that the Wyndam pass would allow one to freely use the restrooms fuly unencumbered, right? I know my DW would want to be sure her wrist band was in full view as she stepped into the toilet-zone. Last minute denial of use of facilities at this stage could be a disaster just seconds away.

Thanks for the tips. We'll be in Nassau on the Carnival Glory on the June 21 sailing.

Bon Voyage...

The last few posts are a hoot, I'm so enjoying this. Are you jumping on the jitney to get to the Wyndham or Sheraton or walking? We've been 7 times and never done this or Atlantis. Going one way or the other this trip, trying to decide. How far is it on the jitney and you catch it near the straw market? I think I read that somewhere? I get car sick and don't want to be stuck on a bus for too long.

Cracking up about the restroom, sounds like me!!!! I know where ALL the restrooms are in and around downtown Nassau!! (And everywhere else we've ever been)

I know where the straw market is and the #10 jitney is supposed to have a stop across the street on a side street. I suspect many people will know where the stop is. It's supposed to be $1pp. I dont know how long it takes, but certainly it's just over the bridge so how long would that take? Half day tops, no?

We'll have to plan for traffic either way.

According to these Boards, The Wyndam has the $15 a day pass, not the Sheraton.

Ciao,

You can get on the jitney #10 across the street from the British Colonial Hotel in front of McDonalds. It is about a 15 minute ride to the Wyndam Hotel which is where you would get off. Pay driver $1 pp when getting off. Behind the hotel is Cable Beach. You would go to the hotel desk to buy the $15 day pass, and yes you get use of the restroom along with the beach and the hotels pool. Great price! Enjoy :)
