Day Passes At Wyndam Cable Beach

Does anyone know if the Wyndam used to be the Marriott? The casino name seems very familiar and I've not been to Nassau in 12 years. Thanks!

Yes, it used to be the Marriott. It's been refurbished, and those garish neon lights have been replaced.. (what was trump thinking).

The casino is still the Crystal Palace.

You can get on the jitney #10 across the street from the British Colonial Hotel in front of McDonalds. It is about a 15 minute ride to the Wyndam Hotel which is where you would get off. Pay driver $1 pp when getting off. Behind the hotel is Cable Beach. You would go to the hotel desk to buy the $15 day pass, and yes you get use of the restroom along with the beach and the hotels pool. Great price! Enjoy :)

I had a sprained ankle when we went in May so I couldn't walk that far to get to the jitney. We just took a cab ,$4 per person. Less walking and no need to wait in the heat for the jitney to fill up or make multiple stops. We have done the jitney before but for a few bucks more, would rather do a cab.

We loved this place! Great casino, beautiful pool area and although beach wasn't huge, it was beautiful! Bar and food area and also good band playing caribbean music (unlike some that we hear on the ship now). We have done Breezes before and prefer this much more!

The casino and area around it were started as part of a cruise line - hence the colors.

I've enjoyed reading this thread and by now one would think I'd have it all figured out, and have an ethical position on everyone elses beach practices;).

I assume that the Wyndam pass would allow one to freely use the restrooms fuly unencumbered, right? I know my DW would want to be sure her wrist band was in full view as she stepped into the toilet-zone. Last minute denial of use of facilities at this stage could be a disaster just seconds away.

Thanks for the tips. We'll be in Nassau on the Carnival Glory on the June 21 sailing.

Bon Voyage...

VERY FUNNY - until that happens to you!

We will be on the Glory in August. Let us know what experience you have at the hotels as far as bands and facility use.

so what were the food prices like at the wyndham? we just got back from the wyndham in St thomas in May and opted out on the AI package cause it was 260.00 additional a night and we didnt come no where near that on our own with 2 children... but we did eat at the resort three time the first was dinner and it was wopping 86.00 for three small entree's the next was a buffet breakfast which total 56.00 and they said we didnt charge for the little one cause he only had a bowl of cereal and the last night we had a carribean themed buffet for 27.00 person... the rest of the days we took the safari bus in to town for breakfast lunch and dinner..

we once did a day pass in antigua's pineapple beach and was 50.00 pp and everything was included (except motorized equipment ) even top shelf booze... Im kinda looking for somthing like that when we cruise there I read in an earlier post that breezes offers something like that Im definitly going to look into that....

Is there anywhere to go to the bathroom if you do not pay the fee for day passes??????

Just the use of their pool/facilities. The beaches are all FREE. You don't have to pay for those. Just walk through the lobby onto the beach. It's kind of a scam that I fell for the 1st time. A local guy selling drinks in coconuts told us that. Look for those guys. They cut a fresh coconut and fill it with a cocktail. Refills for $3. EXCELLENT!!!

You know what-first of all you made me laugh and I thank you!

But I would never stay there---how cheap can you get-I don't understand it-if you have a room there why do you need a day pass? You can go to your room to use the bathroom. So they charge you to use a free beach?

Er, uh, the OCEAN.

BTW did you know that they charge the fee to people staying in the hotel?

Glad I could make you laugh.

This is direct from the site about paying for a room:

Rate subject to 6% gov tax and 6 % resort Levy plus $15 resort fee per day per person for everyone 12 years and older.

They call it a "resort" fee which many hotels do nowadays. I've even saw it on a bill for a stay in Myrtle Beach.

As for the $40pp it may be because of kids out of school.

Scubagirl can you check this out?

I just called the Wyndham and they quoted me $40 for adult passes. I mentioned that I had heard they were previously $15 and was told that they had just gone up and the $40 includes lunch. I asked if it was possible to purchase the pass without lunch and was told no.

So much for the Wyndham. I'll have to look elsewhere.

I would not be surprised if this is a summer thing. When the kids go back to school prices will change. I hope. lol

I wonder what they call lunch? When lunch can be $20 for one it might not be as bad as it seems at first.

Looking at the other thread about this it's amazing that on the 5th someone gets an email stating $15 and now 3 days later it is $40. You know that some people get told it's a 2 day minimum at CS while others are able to book 1 day without a problem. Remember folks we are talking about the Bahamas here.

As far as Comfort Inn goes, for the one night, it can only be done online or in the off-season (if there is one)

Otherwise booking through the hotel you will have to pay for 2 nights. Dont forget to include the extra taxes (ie roomservice)

Well, to further confuse the issue, my DH just called the Wyndham also, and they told him $20 per adult, with child under 12 Y.O. being free. We are going in early September, so maybe it is a seasonal thing.

Ha Ha! You never know til you go! Remember that in the Bahamas nothing is set in stone... all things are up for haggling.

Silly question, but I still wonder...

You have to wear a wristband when you buy the day pass @ Wyndham, but what about the hotel guests? I seriously doubt they have to wear a wristband all day. So really, how would the staff know the difference?

Just curious. Planning on going to the Wyndham AI anyway. But I wonder if they "max out" after a certain # of day passes. Our ship doesn't arrive until noon...

Many resorts in the Bahamas REQUIRE you to wear a wrist band to use the facilities... You show your room key or "towel" key and you get a wrist band. That is so they know who is paying and who is not. Lots of times you will see "guards" at entrance/exit to pool areas.

I see you mention Wyndham AI - are you talking about the one on Grand Bahama Island? It is nice but away from everything.

If you are speaking of Nassau the Wyndham is not an AI.
