MakinGold Posted June 9, 2008 #26 Share Posted June 9, 2008 OK, I covered the good........now the bad: Well, lets see....one day my sea pass card didn't work in the door and I had to get a new one. Ummmmm..........let's see........what else.......Oh, one appetizer wasn't available at dinner one night. Sounds like you should be entitled to compensation. Have you tried e-mailing the CEO??? ;)
LWcalif Posted June 9, 2008 Author #27 Share Posted June 9, 2008 Laura, forgot to ask, are the formal nights the days at sea nights? I would assume they are but you know what they say about assumeing. Thanks Laura The first formal night was Sun. 6/1 our first day at sea. The 2nd formal night was Wed. 6/4 our Grand Cayman day. I thought this worked out really well. It's fun to plan a night out after dinner in our formal attire. Where, after dinner on the last day at sea, most people are packing their luggage to set out. We called it an early night that night. And to add to my trip report - I was really impressed with how everyone looked on our formal nights. It really makes the night all that more special when everyone is dressed up. We only saw one woman in jeans (both nights). On my last Carnival Cruise, there were many people in casual clothes on formal nights and one of the guests had on shorts and a T-Shirt.

Good thing I reported. I think they're prepared to give me a free cruise for my 2 issues (oh, wait a minute, it was only one issue - the appetizer was not one I was ordering).

Georgiagolfer Posted June 10, 2008 #34 Share Posted June 10, 2008 Thanks for all the good insight. DW and I are looking at the Liberty for 10/11. Placed a hold on a room yesterday, and have to decide by tomorrow. This may be enough to push us over the top and seal the deal. Now if I can find some decent flight prices today, then it is a slam dunk.

LWcalif Posted June 10, 2008 Author #36 Share Posted June 10, 2008 Loved your review! I just have to wait til January for my turn:( What time did the ice show tickets get handed out? Ice show tickets were handed out on Sunday 9:30 - 10:45 am somewhere on Deck 3. The Sunday Compass will tell you when and where. And then from 11:30 am on at Guest Relations. Shows were Tues. 7 pm & 9 pm and Wed. 7:00 pm. Tuesday's Compass said both shows that night were sold out. Our tickets were for Wed. and there were quite a few empty seats at that show. anteldel Posted June 10, 2008 #38 Share Posted June 10, 2008 Laura, I loved your review!!! We'll be on Liberty in August with the same itinerary. It's so good to get feedback from such a positive person. Plus you seem to share my views on so many aspects that I had to laugh. I too am not a buffet person but enjoy Windjammer. Also enjoy the specialty dining even just to get away for a quiet dinner one night. Congrats on the casino win and especially keeping it all!!! I'm still waiting to get lucky at that. I love the private islands too. I've donned the garbage bag "rain ponchos" too! Love the concept of snorkeling without getting wet. Am planning on Chakanaab, love dolphins and am glad to hear we won't have to use a snorkel that's been in someone else's mouth. I am also an "over planner" when it comes to vacation, bring a highlighter and then get too busy relaxing at the solarium pool to do everything I highlighted. And enjoyed Quest (our team won second place)!

LWcalif Posted June 10, 2008 Author #43 Share Posted June 10, 2008 LWcalif - was Capt Teige still master? Sometimes he goes out on the Flowrider in his uniform! Yes, Capt. Teige was our Captain. But I didn't see him on the Flowrider. Now that would have been a sight to video! We went to watch others on the flowrider several times, but none of us tried it. Too chicken!! FloridaPalms Posted June 11, 2008 #46 Share Posted June 11, 2008 What an uplifting review! :D Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling just reading it. Not just for all the positive things you had to say about your cruise on the Liberty, but for your positive "glass half full" outlook. Oh, and there's nothing wrong with a "mind blank" - gives more room for memories of past cruises and dreams of future ones. :) Thank you for posting this. Looking forward to sailing on Liberty's newest sister ship in November.
FloridaPalms Posted June 11, 2008 #47 Share Posted June 11, 2008 Great review. Thanks for taking the time to post it~! Hi xxbrowns! See you'll be sailing on the Independence on November 23rd. Come on over and say "Hi" on our Roll Call. It's a little quiet there right now but we're hoping to liven it up over the next few months and make our own M&M party. :D Oooooh... I can see my aft balcony... Can't wait!!! Happy sailing to all ~ Judy & Don (and Robbie  )

Thanks for the info. We're trying to book Portofino's.
