Thanks a bunch. At the end of the day, $638 seemed like a reasonable price to pay for one guy in a room and 7 nights at sea. Seem resonable to you?

I always book 1As and anytime I can get a cruise for a total price of under $100 a day, I'm a happy camper. Enjoy your cruise.

Well, I orginally was in R60 on Fantasy, but due to price drops (not ES), I moved "up" to a 4E, so I won't be in a 1A on that ship after all.

And my Pride booking on 4/17/11? I just changed that to Glory on 10/16/11. I took 2217, one of the porthole cabins because they look so nice. And if someone can join me, no need to climb any ladders!

Sailing in October to Bermuda in the bow when I have motion issues may be a bit of an adventure! :o

I'm on the Glory on June 14th in 1211, sharing with my daughter. I have not been on Carnival before (so far RCL, HAL, NCL, Costa), but if I like it I will go again if the price is right. I'd actually consider sharing a room, as I spend next to no time awake in the cabin on a cruise. Does Carnival have single shares set up, or is this something individuals need to work out on their own?

I was just on the Splendor in 1A, 2217 with portholes. Holy cow, what a GREAT room. It was bigger then a 4A that my friend had and there was a couch too. There's definitely a loud noise coming and going from ports, that lasts appox 15 minutes...yes I timed it;)

It was easy to use the steps to the MDR, casino, shops, etc. BUT...since you're all the way forward, the walk to the aft adult pool is a trek:D

Enjoy:)

What cabin number was that 1A?

Splendor room 2216....forward port side on deck 2.

The only downer was the anchors on the day we had to tender in Cabo San Lucas.

Besides that, it was quit. An often overlooked perk of being on a lower deck was the open hallway which ran the length of the ship. It was an easy walk to the aft Golden Pearl dining room, then up one flight of stairs. The main show lounge was one flight of stairs near the room.

I picked 2217 on Glory because, just by looking at the deck plans, and having been in R7 on my first cruise on Jubilee (no ph, but on the hull where it bends toward the bow and was HUGE compared to my friend's "regular" 1A across the hall), it looked slightly larger than the others. It's right next to the 1st "regular" PH cabin which is supposed to be 220 sq ft. Of course, the deck plans can be deceiving as to the size of the cabin. They aren't all drawn to scale.

afcj1 - do you have pics you could post?

papadave - Carnival does NOT offer a single share plan. There is a separate board for solo cruisers that may be able to provide more info for you.

Re-visited.

I'm reading about sailing cost and preperations all over the place and after your post it struck me that under $100 a day is a target for many people. If a single cruiser can sail for under $100 a day with our obvious disadvantages then we are doing well. So, this is my formula for future cruises; altough balcony rooms are are really calling my name. Must....resist. LOL.

I have a 1A cabin on the 10th level (Panorama) on Splendor. I'm finding this 1A cabins are rare high up. In fact, the 4 close to my cabin are the only ones I've seen. I'm wondering if there is an advantage or disadvantage to this.

I ask too many questions but I've spent my life persuing adventure and this is a completely new adventure for me. Really looking foward to it.

sounds great. You must be in 1076,1077, 1082, or 1083. It should be quite and you will be close to the pool and Lido buffet.

Thanks, that's good to know. Do you happen to know what all that white space between the cabins and the dance club is for?

Hello, no I do not know. I have only been on the Fantasy class...

My Splendor trip will be my next 1A.

I have heard so many good things about the Spirit class design and soundproofing...I would not be too concerned...Bon Voyage!!!

1083, and I just got a first report in another thread that I won't hear a thing in this cabin. Wonderful.

Just got home from a Spyro Gyra concert in Vegas and can't hear a thing anyway.

Any one have photos of this cabin or have stayed in it before.

Charleyann:

This is only my opinion, but I think 2334 is the absolute best of those three mentioned on Carnival Destiny.

Will be in that exact cabin three times this year (first was in February, and I really really really liked it). :)

Just wondering which of these rooms are better 1106 or 2335/2334?

It will just be myself and 14 year old son. Which one offers more space? Seems 1106 gives you more floor space?

Many thanks

Charleyann

The 2334/2335 cabins are the ones with the two big windows. And there might possibly be two beds on the floor since some show a double bed. These are my favorite 1A cabins. Way in the back and very quiet.

I know for sure Triumph doesnt have two beds on the floor, so Im thinking neither does Destiny ... just my guess, bunks.

All the ones that had two beds on the floor for these were changed to 6Bs.

But some of them do have a 'couch' which can be used as a 2nd bed right? (I believe on the Triumph and other ships I had a single bed and sofa as well). Love those special 1As and book them whenever I can (and sad that some of them have been converted to oceanviews!).

Look at my Destiny review for pictures of cabin 2335. There's a lot of room in this cabin.

The link's in my signature.
