modarren Posted December 9, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Will Carnival refund your OBC (fuel surcharge and price drop) to your cc or do you lose it if you don't use it?
lovesublime Posted December 9, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2008 We just returned and didn't use our onboard credit. They applied it to our S&S balance. So, yes it will go toward your CC.
callajl Posted December 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2008 How do you NOT use your OBC? You must be some serious money managers!
travelntreats Posted December 10, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2008 We just returned and didn't use our onboard credit. They applied it to our S&S balance. So, yes it will go toward your CC. If you had a S & S balance, and it was applied to that balance, how would that be considered not using it ? It was applied against something if you had a S & S balance i.e gratuities, onboard purchases, shore tours, etc....therefore one can only assume it was actually used ! firefly333 Posted December 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2008 Some OBC is use it or lose it. OBC for price drops is usually that way for instance. The fuel Im assuming they will refund and is the kind of OBC that is refundable.
pe4all Posted December 10, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 10, 2008 I would double check with Carnival. I have heard different stories. I was told that the fuel surcharge obc would be given back as a check if you don't use it onboard. But any price drop obc must be used or lost, as far as I understand. Truthfully, I wouldn't take the chance of losing it.
victory2020 Posted December 10, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2008 I just got back & my price drop credit was listed as non refundable credit as was the shareholders credit. In the past the shareholders was always listed as refundable, even though they said it wasn't. The Mexican govt gave us a credit of $15pp back from taxes & that was refundable.Don't take a chance - ask the purser.
zqvol Posted December 10, 2008 #8 Share Posted December 10, 2008 OBC's for money that you have paid out of pocket, like fuel charges, or price drops after final payment, etc are refunded if not used, with others they may or may not be refunded. Manic Nirvana Posted December 10, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 10, 2008 Can OBC be used at the Casino? That place would eat it up quickly enough!
pulledporky Posted December 10, 2008 #11 Share Posted December 10, 2008 Can OBC be used at the Casino? That place would eat it up quickly enough! Yes, you can. On board, I asked about refunds. I had about $350 in price drop OBC's, and another $250 in prepaid credits. The purser claimed the price drop OBC's are used first, then the others (to my surprise). They gave me a check for $200 and change on the last night.

DGP1111 Posted December 11, 2008 #13 Share Posted December 11, 2008 I tend to view it with a slightly different phrase . . . 'Use it, cash it out, or lose it.' Never lost a cent of it that way. :D

Drew B Posted December 11, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 11, 2008 Yeah, on my last night, I had $68 left in credits. I wasn't sure if I'd get it back, so I got a $50 cash advance at the casino for $51.50 and bought a round of drinks for the table. Ended up with a balance of about $3.00 on my account...
