Smoking policy

I love Princesscruises

Holland America might also appeal to you due to their liberal smoking policy.

It's nice that we can all find a cruise line that matches our needs, and the smoke free environment on Azamara is a blessing for many of us.:)

Ok i understand your big cars and your industrie smokes to much and now you can not smoke on a ship :(

I love Princesscruises

Crepmen:

Since you are a smoker and have to smoke on your cruise, why haven't you gone ahead and booked on Princess? Obviously, AZ is not the cruise line for you, and they are not going to change their policies for European bad habits. It is mostly Americans who sail with them, and most Americans do no smoke. Book the Royal Princess-same ship as AZ.

I say, although I am English I am apparently classed now as European- something to do with Maastricht and a New Labour Directive from former PM Tony Blair and would dread to think that we as Europeans are perceived by our colonial cousins in the New World to have bad habits.

Indeed the fiend who brought the dreaded leaf from the colonies was beheaded by the Monarch of the day, albeit not for that reason.

However I must say that had the climate in Virginia not been so suitable the leaves may well have not been dry enough to set alight and who knows what uses tobacco would now have.

Sir Walter Raleigh although an excellent sailor and leader of men brought many other strange things back from the New World including the potato. That fine Colonial gentleman Sir Robert Newhart thought Sir Walter mad -however two of the items he introduced to Europe carry the name of one of Englands most loved Kings, Edward.

It is really a pity that on the one hand, one which is tobacco causes so much acrimony and yet the other, the potato has caused so many Americans to be joyous and blessed that their roots and heritage are European. The failure of the potato crops resulted in hordes of Europeans traveling with all there habits good and bad to the new world.

So Finally I would ask that statements of generalisation as to the bad habits of all Europeans be given in context. As you can appreciate,

Europeans have been addicted to the tobacco leaf for many many more years than the Americans- apart shall we say from the Native Americans-who introduced tobacco to Sir Walter Raleigh.

Now thats strange as I have heard many Europeans say that all bad Habits come from the States.

Please read this tongue in cheek and no I am not a smoker.

When i booked our cruise with the Azamara Journey in the german brochure it was not forbitten to smoke on our own balcony.

No information comes from Celebrity or Azamara to us an to our agent.

The time i hear it i like to cancle the cruise but they said no.

Very bad cruiseline.

By the way i dont smoke , only my wife. She likes to smoke only a cigarette an the balcony in the mornig or at night outside. And she dont like to smoke inside of the ship. Thats not a problem for her.

Azamara must say that this is a no smoking ship.

We know these beautiful ship from our vacation with the Tahitian Princess - the samebuilting ship. Its great to cruise with a small ship-

But these is the last cruise with celebrity and azamara.

Lo long

Just out of curiosity, when did you book this cruise?

My point exactly. It is very unlikely that he was able to book this cruise before Azamara's Smoking Policy was not public knowledge. I suspect that his problem is really either with his travel agent, who certainly should have known, or with a lack of due diligence on hist part.

No real reason for him to bash the Cruise Line, IMHO.

Crepmen... have you already taken your cruise, or is it upcoming?

If you haven't already taken it, I think you'll find that there are so many nice things about cruising with Azamara that you'll have a different opinion of them afterwards, despite the smoking issue.

Be sure to let us know how the rest of your cruise experience with Azamara is (or was).

:mad:Since there is no such thing as a smoking balcony be prepared to have very unhappy neighbors if you try to light up on your balcony. Someone is bound to report it and you will be warned by the ship's staff.

Were you talking to me? I hope not. We are ardent non smokers, and we are so pleased that it is no smoking on balconies. :D

Well, we will see.

I am glad I am not on your cruise Mr Crepman if you intend to ignore the smoking policy.

Like you my wife smokes but is very considerate of others smokers and non smokers alike.

I am afraid if you were smoking on the balcony next to mine we would be having words, there is no smoking allowed on your balcony or in your cabin.

Not only can the smoke be offensive to some people, the real issue now is one of safety, there was a fire caused on a Princess ship due to inconsiderate smokers throwing butts over their balcony.

And for the life of me I cannot understand why other lines have not followed Azamara and Celebrity regarding this issue. What is even more

puzzling is that Princess still allows smoking on balconies.

On Oceania, when one boards, they are given a written directive that says to this effect:

If you are caught smoking in your cabin or on your veranda, you will be escorted off the ship at the next port.

There are two designated areas on Oceania and Azamara for smoking as stated prior in this thread.

Hi Sheila,

I recall someone posting on CC about being on an O cruise where a fellow passenger was 'turfed' for violating the smoking regulations (I think they had been warned, but ignored it and continued to smoke on their balcony, pushing their luck a little too far.)

Well, we will see.

Wenn Sie da rauchen, dann werden SIE ja sehen...

(For those who do not understand German [possibly the poster Crepmen], I will translate:

If you smoke there, then YOU will see...

Europeans, especially from non-English-speaking countries, are often cited as being smoke-fiends and that cruise lines have to understand that and provide smoking cabins.

I know a lot of German speakers and the majority (by far), especially the educated ones with the money to cruise, do not smoke. And whether they smoke or not at home, they are not likely to behave defiantly and smoke where it is not permitted.

Have no fear.

I chance the cruiseline an i cruise not with the Azamara. They allowed me to chance my cruise to RCCL (the mother-cruiseline of Azamara. There is allowed to smoke in and outside of the cabin. What a double moral.

You can be sure that you kill more peoble with your very bad ecology politic and your big cars as only smell 1 minute of smoke on the balkony:confused:

I dont like to cruise with people who had double moral an are very fanatical.
