Balcony Size? Normal Was wind a problem? nothing unusual If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? no Any other comments? Our steward Cruz and staff were very courteous and helpful. Appreciate the sliding verandah doors rather than those heavy doors that open inward. Also appreciate all of the storage space in cabin and in bathroom. The foot rest in the shower is a stroke of genius too! We will definitely book this cabin again if we travel Solstice-class ships. Cheers to the Martini Club! (you know who you are!) ;)

Bath Quiet Cabin Very quiet, no connection Balcony View - Clear view above, no overhang as in cabins behind the forward jut Balcony Size? 8 feet wide, 6 feet deep, slightly deeper, I thought Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Any specific problems with this cabin? Closet too small and hard to access because of obstruction of headboard Any other comments? After reading tips on CC boards, guessed correctly that cabins with sleeper couch have bed away from balcony. However, the closet, located on wall bordering bathroom, was too small for heavy packers like us, and very had to access on left side because of intrusion of bed's headboard. DW was constantly banging her arm trying to get in. One lady said, "I just wear whatever falls to the floor," while one gentleman from Spa Class barged into the Captain's Club office screaming that he wanted to be moved to a cabin with a proper closet, so the problem is endemic. How to get a real closet and a roomy cabin? Book a stateroom for the handicapped, which isn't very nice if you aren't, IMHO.

teajak Posted March 14, 2009 #233 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Please, please, please do not suggest that people who do not need them book handicapped rooms. It is a terrible problem already without encouragement from anyone on this board.
joeinsb Posted March 14, 2009 #234 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Teajak, I was not encouraging them and people who take advantage of such things should be scorned. However, I can't tell you how many passengers looked into that cabin while it was being cleaned, and had that thought.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – 3 floors down there was an overhand - one couldn't jump from this balcony and land in the ocean. It wasn't an obstruction to the view at all. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal Was wind a problem? When cabin door and balcony door were open, there was a wind tunnel through the room. Only an issue when the cabine steward opened the door unexpectedly. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? No Any specific problems with this cabin? Some creeking noise on one night when the waves were especially large - it didn't bother us. Any other comments? There are no elevators or stairs near the rear of the ship. Long walk to the elevators if that is an issue. Didn't bother us, we enjoyed the friendliness of all of the cabin stewards between our room and the elevators.

BostonBud Posted March 16, 2009 #246 Share Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) Deck - Sky Cabin # - 1255 Class – CC Starboard or Port Side - port Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – first morning up at 6am because of the music in the hallway, very loud. Called down twice and said they were looking into it. finally went to Guest relations desk and was told that they were having problems with a number of the decks (Atlantis has it's own music playing on the sound systems) After the first day we never had a problem however, there were times you could hear the people in the next cabin on the phone if you were in the same spot in this cabin. Additionally, take note: you could hear very clearly conversations from adjoining cabins who were on their balcony. One afternoon we could hear the soulful discussion of a couple on the next balcony while we were sitting inside our own cabin with the doors open. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – good unobstructed view; since it is a few cabins behind the bump you could see more of those balconies. Balcony Size? Normal or over-sized for class? - normal, appeared bigger than the balconies on RCI Was wind a problem? no If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? Being a tallish guy, you really had to bend down to close or open the safe and there's not much room in that area but we had no problems otherwise with the closet. we tended to put everything in the overhead space. Our closet was pretty much empty. Any other comments? It is a few doors down from the aft elevators and not a long walk at all from the pool deck. We thought it was a great location. While hesitant of having the bed next to the bathroom, we actually found that we used the seating area more because it was near the balcony. We liked the set up and rebooked the same cabin for next year. Cabin stewart was great but you should put the "do not disturb" sign on the door because they are constantly coming in and bringing new towels or canapes or fruit or just freshing up. Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet despite being over the dining room. Even though connecting (though the Solstice connecting cabins don't connect in the usual way with a door in the middle of the room). No noticeable sound during docking, etc. No noticeable sounds from any crew/public areas. VERY IMPRESSED with the quiet. Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – First floor of balcony cabins, close to the lifeboats which cut off a very small amount view at the bottom. Only noticeable when looking down, not when looking straight out. Still lovely and we were happy to have our first balcony at such an affordable price. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal size Was wind a problem? No. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? Was aft, but no problem. Any specific problems with this cabin? None Any other comments? Noticably larger than other similar class cabins we've had on previous lines and ships. MUCH more storage space so the room wasn't cluttered, everything- including four large pieces of luggage- were put away and out of sight. Very impressed with the layout as you never felt you had to "squeeze" to move past something or turn around.
