Just got off the Triumph....what would you like to know?

We are looking at a cruise out of Charleston, SC that is the Triumph. It does this on its way to New York. We won a 5 day cruise on our last cruise and this is from where we live. We have to take a 6a cabin... any info would be great.

We have cruised mostly on Fantasy class ships so this will be a bit different. If you've been on both classes what are the major differences? Did you like having the supper club? Do they have "better" staff being a newer ship? Things like that. We so enjoyed our last cruise on the Fascination but it is a "smaller" ship.

We were on Triumph last May (she has been through the drydock stuff since then) but I can say this was the BEST cruise we have taken yet!!! :D We had 2 6A cabins, connecting 4 & 3, and had plenty of room. The staff was WONDERFUL!!! We didn't do the supper club so can't comment on that, but the dinning room food was good. We have been on several smaller ships and had different expeirences on each so I really can't compare them to our cruise on Triumph. I have learned each cruise is what you make it, so go and have a great time!!

Look at the bottom of this post and click on our pics and you can see some of the ship.

We were on the Triumph 2 weeks ago. She got the big screen on the Lido deck which I thoroughly enjoyed watching movies on late at night.

Looks like she got some new carpeting in the stairways and by the elevators.

We had 2 cabins side by side. One had new carpeting the other didn't.

We had an oceanview cabin and it was 220 sq ft. Very big for an OV. Loved all the space.

Also if you like Sushi there is a Sushi there is a Sushi place right outside the casino at the bar that is open 5:30pm until 8pm.

Going on the Truimph in 11 days our first cruise ever. Was wondering what type of movies (genre) as well as still at the movies/just released on dvd/been out for awhile.

Dress code for dining room. There seems to be a disagreement between my parents, (I'm 46) haha as to what can be worn for dinner. Kahkis and a golf shirt, (except for formal night) of course.

4a room 4 adults (super cramped slightly cramped or ok)

Thank You

No movies are shown onboard that are still out in the movies.

When my wife gets home I'll get her to dig out the Capers and I'll let you know what movies were playing.

I'd say 4a with 4 adults would be SUPER CRAMPED!

Bill

I wore dockers shorts, Caribbean shirts for dinner for the casual nights.

For the dress code, khakis and a golf shirt are fine... here what Carnival says:

Is there a dress code for the dining room?

Depending on the length of the cruise, either formal dress or casual resort wear is required in the Dining Room. The dress requirement for children is the same. For those not wanting to dress up, the Lido restaurants are open nightly (with the exception of the last evening of the cruise), and have a casual dress code.

Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies - Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cut-offs). Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual dinner for ladies and gentlemen: gym shorts, basketball shorts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, cut-off jeans, and sleeveless shirts for men.

Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you‘d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too! Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats.

As far as 4 in an inside cabin... It will be cramped, but if you are creative, then it won't be too bad. On formal night, maybe some can get ready in the spa - they have great showers there and it will relieve the congestion in the bathroom in your cabin. Since there are only 11 days to your cruise, it doesn't seem like you could get another cabin even if you wanted it, but you might find two cabins more comfortable for your next cruise.

Does anyone have pictures of the triumph? We will be traveling with our 18 year old son. In the past he has enjoyed the teen programs. This year I am afraid he will not have the same amount of fun since he is too old for the teen program and kinda young for the adult scene. Any suggestions on what he could do?

Any additional charge for the movies shown in the cabin? I am only asking because on RCL some of the movies in the cabin were subject to an extra charge.

Does the rear pool still have the retractable dome? Came in very handy when I was last on the ship since we were racing ahead of a hurricane on the way back to NY.

No additional charge for those movies in the cabin.

Yes the rear pool has the dome on it and it was closed on the nights I was up there.

We had a very windy cruise and the pools were closed the last 2 nights of our cruise.

Every day of the cruise they have 3 movie channels 33,34, & 35. They play them for the entire day every 2 or 3 hours. They do offer a variety of other pay movies if you do the menu on the remote. I think they charge $8.99 for each of them per viewing. At night they also play concerts and movies on the lido deck on the big screen and offer popcorn for $1.50. Each night you receive your Carnival Capers events for the next day and it has what is playing and times.

I would have rather had a small fridge in our room. Now that would have been a good perk. I never got the popcorn because I was usually so full from dinner or wanted the chips and salsa/cheese sauce or ice cream instead. This was the first time I can remember seeing strawberry soft serve yoguart and it was good. They may have had it on the ships before and I just never noticed it. Hope they have it again when we go next time.
