Mississippi, I am with Stephanie. It doesnt feel real. Luckily I don't have to go to work...... I would be totally useless :o Just a few things to finish up today and I am ready to go !!! I have to say I feel so sorry for my dogs - they know what a suitcase is :( and are not happy pups !

We arrive LaGuardia at 5:58 pm..... so will get to hotel, have a late dinner and rest up. We have all morning to "play" but definately plan to be at JFK by 3:30 (or a bit earlier).

Later - TEX

I'm taking your advice definitely! No tex mex at the meridian and I'm buying antinal as soon as I get there. Thank you so much for all of your help and advice. We are all packed and now just waiting to go!

Am I the only one who is searching multiple times daily? Waiting for the travelers to post? LOL. they must be having a good time and will post when they have the time and the opportunity.

FEED MY ADDICTION!

For those of us who still have weeks, months to plan...........are any of you thinking about doing your visa online? One of my travel group has found a website and the visas are $15. I know this sounds good, but don't you get the impression that it is really easy to get your visa at the airport in Cairo? Plus, I think online that you have to submit two passport sized pictures and you have to send in your passport in order to get the visa. Not really wanting to do that when walking up to a booth, handing a guy $15, getting the stamp in my passport and going on my merrry way; seems so much easier, huh?

Thoughts?

LOL CM,

I think you mean 2011. You really are excited, huh? I go in Feb. Are you prepared to sweat? It should be around 120 in Egypt in July. You are a better person than I, I'm old and need a bit of coolness. It should be 80's in Feb, but the difference is, I will be dodging crowds.

Maybe the travelers will respond soon.

I hate to admit an addiction, but I check in here the first thing every morning to jumpstart my day, lol!

Suzie, I had planned to get my visa upon arrival in Cairo, too many people have recommended this for it NOT to be the easiest thing to do. However, the company I am traveling with will get ours and mail them with our documents, so one less thing for me to worry about.

75 days for me! :D

Hi

We are going on the Feb 10, 2011 15 day Gate 1 trip. Anyone else going on that date?

Thanks again all you experienced Egypt travelers; this is the best thread ever!!

They should be on the Nile tonight. Didn't CB and maybe others say they did have internet connections on the ship? Maybe they're just having way too much fun and just don't have time to let us know how they're doing.

Yes Judy, this is the best thread ever! With almost 9,000 hits no less. I went on a Baltic cruise last year and had a wonderful experience with the CruiseCritic threads. It allowed me to enhance the trip and when the plan was to go to Egypt with a Nile cruise, I thought I would go back to this website. I admit that it was hard to find this thread as CC doesn't seem to make combined trips (cruise and land trips); easy to find. But, here we all are! We might pass like ships in the night while in Egypt.

Ron, I guess we have to understand............that we will be the same way when it's our turn, huh? I'm not even taking a puter and will be going online at internet cafes or be at the mercy of the available puter on the ship. Here's hoping that they are having a ball. I do note that the temps have dropped down and they should be having a comfie tour with temps in the 80's.

Ta Ta,

Suzie

Hi everyone!

Posting rolling down the Nile! Everyone that's coming soon, get ready for a trip of a lifetime. Pictures don't even do this place justice. Great trip. Internet is a bit sketchy. There was some issues on the Neptune and they switched our ship to the MS Nile Symphony. The crew is great and our guide Ayman is absolutely amazing. I think Cheryl is going to post soon too. Hopefully one of us can download a couple pics.

So glad to hear from you! We thought a crocodile got you! All of us "left behind" are trying to be patient. LOL.

Trip of a lifetime is just what I want to hear. Have a great time and when you can take a moment, let us know how things are going.

Safe travels!

Looks like we are at a standstill until our group gets service on their computers or they take a moment from the fun..............lol. I will probably be so engrossed when it is my turn that I won't take the time to log on!

My travelmate and I are researching how to get from JFK to Newark airport at the end of the trip.................cheaply, quickly, efficiently and did I say cheaply? Has anyone done the shuttle? It says it's $27 as opposed to almost $100 by taxi with surcharges and tolls. I don't really want to schlep onto the train into Grand Central and then take the train to EWR..........sounds too much like work and who knows how much stuff I'll be lugging home!

Help!

Hi everyone on the board and cruising. I'm checking in and thought I'd steal Texascruiser's list since it's buried in the earlier thread and thanks to Suzie who is keeping up with the additions. If anyone has a chance to I'd like to know more about tipping on the ship, the staff, tour guides and the Gate 1 Escort on the ship: how and how much?

I'm getting so excitied reading the posts and thought about trying to see if I could go before May but the pricing has definitely gone up since I booked so I guess I'm going to have to live through it on everyone's travels until it's my turn.

If anyone is interested Travelsmith has a pair of reversible pants on their site (2 pants for the space of one and they are hand washable and quick dry)

Well if I don't post before, Have a Happy Thanksgiving - but you can bet I'll be checking even if I don't post. :-)

OMG! I thought I was all alone there for a while. Simpjo.......the time will fly by. My mom used to say, "Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end the faster it goes". I can't believe it is only about 3 and a half months to go. With the holidays, that's practically next week!

About the tipping thing, I do seem to remember that someone mentioned this somewhere. A good thing to know and I will check it out. Are any of you, "I've already been there and done that" group out there to give us advice?

Simpjo, you can list me as confirmed for the December 9th trip. Question for those that have gone before, how many days before departure did you get your travel documents?

32 days, but who's counting.
