What is good in November?

Have only been one one cruise...last Sept. to the Western Med. and loved it. Unfortunately, can not cruise until probably November (job causing scheduling problems). Anyway....if we can pull off a November cruise.....what destinations are the best. Really did love the Mediterrean but concern weather won't be good in November.

Not sure is Caribbean would hold that much interest,,,,we like sght seeing and ruins etc.

Any advice appreciated,,,,,,

If you do a Western Caribbean (Mexico) itinerary, there will be PLENTY of ruins. In The Caribbean, the weather is great all year...it's the tropics, after all!

November is a great time to cruise in the Caribbean as there are very few kids on board unless you go during Thanksgiving---then there will be tons of kids.

 

Any line is fine, and totally depends on what you want from a cruise, and what you want to spend. If you want a more casual time, look at RCI. If you want better food and service and a more refined cruise experience, then try Princess or Celebrity. In your age range, the same as mine, I much prefer Celebrity for the ambiance and good food and excellent service.

My suggestion would be a panama canal cruise. As far as cruiseline choice I think you would be happy with Princess, HAL or Celebrity.

The "shoulder" season between Thanksgiving and Christmas is an excellent time to cruise due to lower fares and fewer children.

 

There are lots of ruins and historical sites throughout the Caribbean and Central America. I'm not a sun and sand type of person, and have found lots to see and do exploring the different ports and taking shore excursions.

You might want to try a Canary Islands cruise. We did one in Nov. 07 and the weather was gorgeous. Started in Barcelona where it was mid 60's during the day, then on to the Canaries where it was a perfect 75 degrees every day. Malaga and Lisbon were sunny and nice too.......

I agree, Panama Canal. We did this a couple of years ago in Oct. Weather was great and only a handful of children onboard. Awesome cruise. We were on Princess, but HAL and Celebrity would be good too.

If you have ever considered cruising the Med, November is a great time to do it for two reasons:

 

1) Prices are lower (for both cruise fare and flights) because it is the end of the season. You can do a cruise for less than half of what it costs in the "peak" summer months.

 

2) It is significantly less crowded -- and therefore more enjoyable.

On 11/23 we are doing a Celebrity cruise on the brand new Equinox, they are having some special rates for residents of most states as well as senior citizens. You will be able to get a good rate. This will be the 2nd time we have done a cruise similar to this with Celebrity, the last time it started the day after Thanksgiving. The ship is starting to decorate for Christmas which we really enjoyed! We LOVED Columbia and did a great City Tour, enjoyed Panama, and Grand Cayman. This will be our first time to Costa Rica and Honduras (we will see what happens with this - hope they work out their problems!) AND we have been to Cozumel at least 3 times and are looking forward to going back. The cruise is a great mix of sea days and ports, GREAT food and GREAT service all for a good price.

 

We also decided to do this again because we had perfect weather and felt like we had a Holiday Cruise without paying the extra $$$. So far for us it has been or favorite cruise - so, we are going to try it again, but try a great new ship! Please consider joining us. If you have any questions please ask!

If we could manage to squeeze in a November cruise, it would definately be the Canaries and/or Madeira. We'd either go Ncl from Barcelona, or P&O from Southampton. We're going with Thomson's round the Red Sea, which gives many of the Egyptian sites, plus Petra in Jordan. Costa and MSC cruise many of these southern ports also.-jocap.
