Benefits After Sept. 1

Recommended Posts

Anyone sailing after the benefit-change of September 1st: Could you please post how/what the Diamond benefits are and how the change over went. In particular where the Diamond Lounge was located on the Mariner? New Diamond-level coupon booklet? Coffee makers in all cabins? Would love to know the new changes. Thanks!

We will be on the mariner on Sept 13th. Will let you know . I don't expect a very positive response from the Diamond members regarding paying 25% for their drinks. I expect the rest should be acceptable. In June we got the new Diamond book and the only thing we found of interest was the $10 internet coupon. I could hunt the rest up and post what was left. Bev

I'm sailing on Enchantment B2B 8/31 and 9/5, so it should be interesting to see the difference in the two cruises.

The new C&A coupon books are out already... The internet coupon is still there... the casino coupons are as well (with the free "spin to win", not $12 for $10)... free specialty coffee... no free drink... no JR...

On Mariner, they currently have coffee pots in all JS and above cabins... I don't expect them to add them to the others.

The CL overflow lounge is in the Dragon's Lair at this point... it will be interesting to see if they continue to use the overflow lounge for the new Diamond Lounges.

I'm particularly interested to hear if there are snacks, or any other included drinks (like beer) at the nightly D event - I'll miss a lack of snacks!

Anyone else think its weird that Celebrity appears to be adding the same stuff for Ds (Elite on Celebrity) that RC is dropping?? Same company!

I was really surprised that Celebrity started offering the new Elite Lounge... there were rumors that they were going to start a new Elite Plus level that would have correlated with Diamond Plus at 24+ credits and honestly, that made sense to me in view of what C&A was doing.

I think that Celebrity is going to be picking up some loyal Royal cruisers. I wonder if that was the objective.

Yes I did mean to say 25% off which means you still pay 75% plus tip I assume. At the end we always left a nice tip for the people serving our drinks. Now it will be added every time I guess. You will be charged for beer. Rumor has it soft drinks will free also along with the wine and Champagne. We will be on the second sailing on the 13th. Maybe things will change after the 1st group is on board. We always meet nice people in the lounge so will look forward to meeting new people. Bev

Is there any priority for Diamonds to order ice skating tickets? if not how do you get them?

Where will the Diamond get togethers be held on Navigator?

I don't believe they are using the ice tickets on any of the ships any longer... we went on Mariner at the end of May and they used them... when we went again in July, they did not....

Nobody really knows for a certainty where they'll be having the Diamond Lounge... we're all assuming that it will be in the same place that they currently use for an overflow lounge. I'm not sure where that is at this point for Navigator... maybe someone who has sailed on her more recently that I have can answer that....

What's the current 'per minute' charge for internet? and...

is the coffee pot in the JS and above a french press or drip?

and...are coffee grounds provided?

Its a French Press and they do provide the coffee...........they also have an electric kettle for tea(which they provide as well)(and its also to boil the water for the French Press)

Wow that coupon book looks pathetic. I'm glad I'm still gold.....cant miss what you never had LOL.

~Connie

This new coupon book pretty much sucks!

Only if you have had the previous coupon books with all the free stuff.

Think about those who have never seen or experienced the previous books; these would seem like really nice perks. After all, each one of those is a GIFT. RCI does NOT have to do anything.

They picked us up. We have sailed exclusive RCI for the last 11 or 12 cruises, but our next and possible NEW FAVORITE is on Celebrity Infinity. And I AM excited about the ADDITIONAL perks Celebrity is ADDING for the Diamond/Elite members.

I'm really not sure... I haven't seen them say either way...

Since we are on Enchantment together at the beginning of the month, I guess we'll find out together. Even though we'll have access to the CL, we should make a point of going to the Diamond Lounge to check it out if nothing else...

We had a french press and hot kettle on Mariner in May, but they had switched over to a small coffee pot when we were on again in July....

I am pretty sure that was their primary objective and by doing so they can add a little more substance to their claim to be a step up from Royal Caribbean. I did note that in the new Celebrity concierge lounge,Elite members (Celebrity's equivalent to Royal Caribbean's Diamond) will be offered a complimentary beverage, not the unlimited number that Diamond members were able to get on RCI. Until they made these changes, Celebrity's loyalty program really suffered in comparison to what RCI was providing their long time guests. Now the positions may have been reversed. Time will tell.:)

We are on Mercury next month, so I'll be able to test out the multiple drink situation first hand.... :D That has been questioned over on the Celebrity boards, but everyone who has come back has said they haven't had a problem having as many drinks as they want.

Celebrity's program was pretty bad... they really have improved it substantially with these new changes.
