  1. As has been very apparent recently, our air often travels long distances and can pick up pollutants from many other countries on it's way to the UK. So even in if we put a stop to all our pollution, we could still end up with poor air quality.
  2. My Son and DIL tested positive on their return from a hotel holiday in New York, so it's just as easy to catch covid on a hotel holiday as a a cruise holiday.
  3. I do wonder why so many people make the assumption that others will probably lie about taking a test and following the required health declaration. Could it be because they themselves would be tempted to lie? Personally I accept that it is possible to cheat the system, but I don't think I would deliberately lie just so that I could go on a cruise.
  4. Presumably they are Norwegians and their lifestyle is being funded by the Norwegian investment fund from state oil revenues, dont you think that's ironic?
  5. That's a bit harsh, one can agree that we need to drive towards zero CO2 emissions, whilst still accepting that the UKs puny CO2 emissions are never going to save the world on their own.
  6. I do think it's rather ironic that Norway is adopting this stance, when their economic success has been totally based on oil revenues for the last 40 years.
  7. I only watch ones that have subtitles, and very little static chat. What I want to see when I watch a cruise vlog is plenty of video footage of the public spaces and cabins and very little of the "presenters", I can make my own mind up about whether the ship looks as though it would be suitable for us.
  8. It's 25 C outside at 10:30, and also in the flat. The temp seems standard across all the rooms, but it's a lot cooler than the house bedrooms used to be, even when the temp was only in the high 20s during the day, not having a red hot attic above us makes all the difference. However I think I will be sleeping on top of the duvet tonight.
  9. P&Os IT dept are still trying to solve the millennium bug so expecting them to be up to date is a waste of time. This problem was discussed at length at the start of covid, when lots of these standard cancellation invoices were sent out. Worry not you will get your expected FCC and a refund of any shore excursions or spec. dining booking you have made.
  10. You certainly would struggle to stream live chess matches on most P&O ships.😁
  11. Strange that, I am older than you Brian but now I am far more used to C than F, but I still think in feet and inches.
  12. It was hotter on our balcony today than inside, however with the patio doors ajar there was a pleasant cooling breeze.
  13. One thing to remember is that the Executive Chef does change every 6 months or so, which might at least make for a change in the way the menus are prepared, and of course you can always discuss your concerns about the standards in the buffet with one of the head waiters.
  14. If Arvia is unlikely to tender then I do hope P&O put Monte Carlo on some of its itineraries, since my wife can't use a P&O tender.
  15. I do hope you are having a correct observed one Zap, because that is what Celebrity say they require.
  16. I do think that is incorrect Zap, the observed ones need to done by a trained medic, the same kit but done at a pharmacy or a special testing centre.
  17. No the Randox certifly test is self administered.
  18. They are easy to see, you can spot the rectangular cut out which will be about 1 metre above the water line. So next time you are walking along the pier or alongside the berthed ship, have a god nosy.
  19. The main soft drinks in the children's drink package are the carbonated soda fountain drinks, lemonade, cola etc,but not sure what other drinks they have.
  20. I assume the GT is Guarantee, so that does not help. It may be that when you booked you accepted the price given by P&O which was probably for the lowest grade in the category you booked. In which case you could be allocated a cabin anywhere. I have never booked a saver fare, but as I use a TA, I would study the deck plans and look for a grade where I would be happy with any cabin, then ask my TA to ensure that was stipulated on my booking.
  21. Not been on Iona yet, but I would be very surprised if she did not have the drop down tender platforms, and will be having a close look in October when we have our first cruise on her.
  22. I have never seen open topped lifeboats on any modern cruise ship we have sailed.
  23. Our mini bar was empty throughout our cruise, apart from our own items which needed to be kept chilled, and the fridge really did work and kept everything well chilled.
  24. Our June cruise on Britannia was fairly normal as well, about the only grumble I had was that they no longer have those delicious Sundaes in the MDR. I had no idea ice cream was a covid carrier. 😉
  25. Moley, why have P&O not considered using a similar system to RCIs Independence OTS on their last 2 new builds. This has a switch back ramp from the upper gun port deck down to the tender platform, to allow wheelchair passengers to tender by utilising a shoreside roll on tender boat. Is this just a cost issue, or do P&O not really want to encourage wheelchair using passengers?
