Oasis - reading reviews not so great, getting nervous
KKB replied to Cruisegirl138's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I look for patterns in reviews. Are people making the same complaint over & over, or are people just complaining. I read 2 pages of Oasis reviews...most people were very happy with their cruises & I didn't see a distinctive pattern of complaint other than crowds--uh, you booked a ship that can hold about 7K passengers. YEP, there are going to be crowds! Ships are pretty full, that's nothing new. Nothing to do? Usually means nothing they are interested in...ESPECIALLY on Royal! (I HAVE been on a Mariner cruise years ago & did feel that way--felt it was a CD issue) I saw no complaints of things closing early? And we all need to get OVER towel animals! I'd rather staff put their stretched time to other things. (Carnival seems to have premade towel animals that they use--brillian) Look, I sailed MSC for the 1st time recently...I saw the complaints...I still sailed (too good a deal). Did I still have a good time even with rude passengers, mediocre food & lack of activities. Yep, because I ALWAYS have a good time--it's about attitude. Plan on having a good time, see the good in every situation & ENJOY. (PS But I won't be sailing MSC again...I'll use my travel $ on lines I prefer) -
Shoot we sail Aug 4 Breakaway & NO word yet...even changed a bid yesterday

The Points Guy rates Carnival Food as excellent.

I was shocked how good it was! -
Compare the 6+ day cruises to the 5- day cruises
KKB replied to FiremedicMike151's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
After 30 cruises tried Carnival for 1st time in Jan--14 days to Hawaii. Everyone said we would hate it--we LOVED it. Bartenders said Carnival is great--IF you take cruises LONGER than 7 days outside Caribbean & MX Riviera. -

Interesting comments. We have sailed 30+ times. Tried Carnival for first time in Jan, 14 days to Hawaii. We found ALL the food very good--MDR, buffet, Guys, MX place. We find Celebrity, Princess, Carnival, RCCL & NCL MDRs to be fairly comparable. Celebrity & Carnival buffets win--Princess & NCL are OK; been 5 yrs since RCCL, don't remember. Big fan of pizza/burgers by the pool everywhere. Specialty dining goes to Celebrity, RCCL, DCL & NCL. (never been impressed with Princess & didn't try Carnival) -
I cannot speak to most of your specific questions but I can speak to returning to Princess after a long absence. Started w/ Princess 20 years ago--made us fall in love w/ cruising. Sailed them the most for 10 years. Then we discovered Celebrity--our new love & sailed them the most for 10 years. Last spring Princess sent us a offer so thought we'd toss our hat in the ring again. It was just as great as we remember! So after 10 years off, have now sailed them 5 times in the last year with another booked for fall & one next spring already! Food & service just as good as before overall, imo. Trivia & gameshows just as fun. Sailed Caribbean, Discovery, Sapphire & Ruby in Caribbean, AK & MX Riv. Next sailing Island in Europe & Grand Sydney to SF.

Haven: Forward Facing Penthouse or Courtyard balcony
KKB replied to KKB's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Sorry--Getaway Forward deck 11 Courtyard deck 15 -
Forward facing is 2 rooms, 420-450 sq. ft. Courtyard balcony is 325 ft. but it has the Courtyard access--it is 400 more total than the Forward facing room.

2500 more than our interior for 10 day Med cruise with only 2 sea days. Worth it? DH & I did Retreat on Celebrity in Caribbean--this would be totally worth it for the Caribbean. We liked Retreat but it would have to be a VERY good price to do it again. This is DD25 & I...
-
OK I see prices have dropped on our Med cruise this summer. All balconies are all cheaper than what we paid for an interior--these seem to be the best choices for us. (Haven would run us 2500 more...too much for port intensive cruise, imo) So plan to call & see if we can upgrade to one of them. Which one would you choose. Seems Large balcony=245 sq. ft., Aft=203 sq. ft., Club=236 sq. ft. (what is benefit of that over Large balcony?) My gut says Large balcony.

I 100% agree with you--cheaters tick me off. BUT I have read all the HP books a few times (school librarian here) & the movies as well. I would have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA regarding that money question. When people read, they remember different things--things that "speak" to our personal experiences & memories. I have zero recollection of specific wizard money value!

Check out their status match--LOTS of options. I'm NO MSC fan but I have heard over & over that YC is amazing. https://frequentfloaters.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/B2B_TA_Status-Match_Conversion-Table.pdf

RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)
KKB replied to John&LaLa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Remember--there are more balconies than any other category on virtually every ship. -
I agree this excursion is not worth it--LONG drive each way & just a few hours there, when you are not familiar with the area or comfortable with public transportation, it doesn't seem worth it.

Nevermind...found a similar old thread...thx

We are set to dock at 6:30AM. If I walk off with my luggage & grab a cab at the port, am I likely to make this flight? Thanks!

SO...I discovered that the cruise the week before the one I booked was also CHEAP, so decided to extend my holiday... About 22 hours after booking my Qantas flight. So I cancelled it. I got a confirmation that they received my cancellation w/in a couple hours. It's a form letter that says you will get whatever refund your ticket type incurs. Well, ALL tickets are refundable w/in 24 hours by US law and since Qantas flies to/from the US they must abide by this law. I have not seen a refund yet (24 hours later)...I DO realize these things can take some time. MY QUESTION: has anyone done this & had issues (or not!) w/ Qantas? I need to rebook my flight & wanted to BE SURE it was going back on my credit card & not a Qantas credit before I do. Thanks if anyone can help.
