  1. This is a bad plan, IMO. Celebrity has a small buffet open later. Princess has International Cafe. Most people want grab & go at that time of night, not a sit down & wait like O'Sheehans...
  2. I contacted a Syd band member on the Breakaway & she wasn't sure but thought it temporary. Additionally, someone on another thread posted auditions stateside for Syd bands... Now, Syds is only showing on the Prima right now as an entertainment option on the NCL site--weird as Breakaway was there a couple days ago (and the band member I spoke with said they are on until June), so who knows what is going on...
  3. It's a risk of an endemic virus now. I was on the Caribbean Princess for 2 weeks in July--definitely not full. Was quite tired the last day but assumed it was just 2 weeks of fun vacation getting to me. Disembarkation day I had a lot of throat drainage. Wore a mask for my travel home JUST in case. Took a test when I get home as I have an elderly father. Yep, COVID. Rested the next day. Cleaned the garage the next! I keep up on my shots, wash my hands a lot, but I'm not giving up travel!
  4. Yea, but it ran me like $150 more for the cruise. If it is even close to a breakeven, I'll do it for convenience but I certainly didn't drink anywhere near that on upcharges so next time I'll save the $100.
  5. I first thought--WTH do you live? Then I realized when I went to the grocery store last week eggs had gone from $1.50 to $3.50/dozen at Aldi--WOAH! Just looked at Hyvee....yep, $7.50/18!
  6. Huh, haven't noticed this at all. We have cruised Celebrity 4x since start up last summer. Mast Grill has been really good on every cruise! I don't eat flour-based desserts, DH rarely does either so can't comment. I find Celebrity buffet & MDR to be the best of the lines we have sailed. E-class MDR's are FANTASTIC...but we LOVE Eden so it is a must do, and want to try Le Voyage & Chefs table on the Beyond.
  7. Yep I do it every cruise...he's pretty much a beer drinker with the occasional frozen drink. I prefer the wine offerings on premium plus I like to try different cocktails. Tho I must say I'm starting to think it's cheaper just to pay the upcharge as we go.
  8. Good stuff on Easy plus! There was one menu with $16 drinks. If I order one, do they charge $1 extra like on Celebrity & Princess or the whole $16?

    No risotto??

I'm not surprised...risotto is VERY difficult to do right on a large scale. Any time I've ordered it on a cruise it is more like a rice pilaf...
  10. Interesting...curious to know how far out they are allowing changes.
  11. OK...looking at my upcoming bookings, I BELIEVE it is Easy Plus. Here's why I've come to that conclusion... My Feb cruise does NOT include the drink package...and I can buy NA, Easy, Easy Plus or Easy Plus Premium. No other options. My May cruise DOES include the drink package & while it shows those same 4 options it ALSO gives me the option to "Upgrade from Easy Plus to Premium" HOPE SO
  12. Case in point. DS had a 5AM flight home from Phoenix today. Cancelled yesterday...but there were MANY other options to get him home the rest of the day. He actually got a better flight. SWA is pretty much allowing ANY change for FREE right now...I've changed our Saturday flight 2x in the last week, tweaking it for our needs.
  13. Well we are trying Carnival next week & I am trying MSC next month! The Caribbean Princess in July was the perfect return to Princess--the entertainment crew was FANTASTIC. They just had fun together & therefore so did the crowd. Then on the Discovery they also were SO much fun!! I truly believe a good Cruise Director is key. My least fav cruise ever was RCCL; and it was the CD. He was a pompous A$$ who would show up at things for 5 min to hear himself talk or sing then leave it to his asst CD who was run ragged. I guess as I ponder things--service, food, shows, CDs...as long as each one is pretty good, I'm happy. But if one is off....THAT is what I remember for that cruise. Don't get me wrong, I don't judge a cruise by one bad meal, one bad show by any means. I also try not to judge an entire brand either (that RCCL was our 1st RCCL cruise & we have sailed 2 since then & loved them both)
  14. You & I have similar viewpoints regarding the 2. I am a little obsessed with E-class
  15. From someone on the Ruby Princess cruise. This is the Monte Cristo on the Ruby. Looks more like a Cheese Frenchee to me (with ham & turkey) Still not QUITE a real Monte Cristo (basically ham & cheese on French toast--REALLY not that hard), but clearly there isn't a consistent product across the cruise line!
  16. I wouldn't judge Princess based on the Emerald...Princess is our 2nd fav line after Celebrity. We typically find the service & food a tick above other lines.. I've sailed Caribbean Princess, Discovery & Sapphire in the last 6 mos. That piano singer...wild. I will say the main band on Encore last month...was, well, OK. They had a Bon Jovi tribute. We came in about 15 min. in & they were playing a song I had never heard! Then they were asking the audience "What do you want to hear?" Someone yelled--"Well, a Bon Jovi tribute should include Living on a Prayer!" NCL had them playing a LOT of differ genres...it didn't always work. We had Panama Canal booked on the Emerald in April...this week we decided to change that booking to the Prima to Bermuda! I admit reading your review made me re-think the Emerald!
  17. We just booked Prima for April as we really want to sail her & we LOVE Syds--we are in line an hour early every night! (they will line up earlier each night). On Getaway they wouldn't let you in until 30 min. prior.
  18. Yes, yes, everyone has different opinions--I wanted to hear them! For now I have booked Palomar--the Greek MDR on Celebrity E-class ships was my fav. I am excited about Indulge! We had planned to try Food Republic last month on Encore, but just never did. Will do that out of pocket.
  19. Exactly. Oh I fell certain there will be further investigation. I was calling for the CEO to step down & when I realized he inherited much of this mess, I was more compassionate. The future will tell.
  20. Nachi Cochum is our MUST do every time we go to Cozumel!
