  1. On a sea day on my recent NCL cruise, they offered a Macallan Tasting for only $20. Decent instructor, and my introduction to Lumina, Quest, and Enigma - the last of which I absolutely fell in love with. But they did not have it offered at any bar, at any price. I need to find Enigma stateside, but the prices seem to vary by 50% up to $1000/bottle, so I haven’t pulled the trigger.
  2. My (slightly embarrassing) favorite Princess cocktail is the Monte Chocso: hot chocolate, grand marnier and kahlua. It’s possible I had that for breakfast, maybe more than once.
  3. Wow, I’ve never seen triple zero before🫢
  4. This caught my attention, too. I hope this isn’t a change in policy that I haven’t heard about yet.
  5. Ditto the seasickness preparation. I ended up in the Medical Clinic on the first night and they gave me a shot which did solve my problem. I am prone to seasickness so I’d bought an Rx patch; doc made me remove it before the shot, but the shot saved me so… Our April cruise out of SF was downright cold until we were practically in sight of the islands. But the long stretch of sea days was welcome before and after the frenzy of island hopping. We had a great time, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat
  6. Just a caution about booking a whole cruise just for one excursion. On our British Isles cruise, Le Havre was missed because the French dockworkers were on strike. They do that a lot. Today’s news from France is not reassuring. If you really just want to do one thing, make your plan to do that thing; don’t risk not seeing it. There were a lot of awfully disappointed folks on our ship.
  7. Strange. Our April 2024 transit has had full excursions posted for weeks now. My problem is that none of them is enticing…
  8. Apologies for being an idiot, but I cannot find anywhere on AARP to purchase Princess gift cards. I’ve searched in Travel and Rewards and the general site. can some kind soul provide fool-proof step by step instructions?
  9. I loved that Linen Spray, for no good reason. I still have an extra bottle, it’s great after a long plane ride too.
  10. Seems like I had a curtain in my Mini on the Island
  11. Yes! Drives me crazy sometimes because you have to start all over. I also wish they’d make it so you could toggle between options (eg, via drop down menus) for cabin size, location, gty/choose, passengers, dates, +/Premier, etc, without having to back up each time.
  12. I’ll get on board with this offer, I still have a few grand owed on my 2024 cruise. Ten percent is 10 percent! But reading over the T&C, I don’t see what happens to gift card funds that are applied to an existing booking, when that booking is subsequently cancelled prior to Final Payment. Does anyone know for sure?
  13. Uh oh. My cruise departs from PC tomorrow and I’m driving to the port. I don’t have a parking reservation. I was planning to park at the garage at #10 but their website says they don’t accept reservations. Am I screwed? Or were you referencing off-site lots? (sorry for the hi-jack)
  14. The hits just keep on coming. My expectations for my first NCL cruise are so low, I almost don’t want to try.
  15. I guess I figured that the ship is kinda full of loungers and certainly one would be available. I see them stacked all over the place. But maybe they don’t want lots of folks getting the same bright idea, that would become unworkable pretty quickly. Loungers belong on deck or in a suite. Fair enough, I’ll try the ottomans, didn’t realize those were already in place. Thanks!
  16. I have a Caribe deck Premium Balcony (slightly larger) cabin reserved on Emerald next year. The standard balcony setup is two chairs and a table. I’m traveling solo and have no need for a second chair. What are my chances of getting the two chairs replaced with one lounger? Is this a reasonable request for my cabin steward, accompanied by a nice tip? Has anyone ever done this? It really would make my trip so much more enjoyable.
  17. Find one that is experienced handling cruise ship passengers as clients. Check online reviews by searching for “cruise” and definitely confirm with your point of contact when you make arrangements. Have fun!
  18. Uh oh. Hope you came prepared, good luck
  19. Appreciate the Huatulco review and pics. Reassures me that I don’t have to book an excursion in every port. Like you, I don’t see anything on offer that looks remotely enticing.
  20. Enjoying your trip very much. Giants Causeway was probably my favorite excursion ever. Quick question: On the NCL board, folks currently on their British Isles cruise are reporting that no alcohol is being served on board any time the ship is in a UK port +12 nautical miles and regardless of pre-purchased beverage packages. Do you see any evidence of a similar situation on your cruise?
  21. What a bunch of horse hockey Looks like I can cross NCL off my list for UK/European trips Thank god Princess in come to my home port (PC) next year. Who knows if this NCL incompetence will spread?
  22. “Absorb“ really just means pass along to paying customers. Which I’m fine with. I don’t fully understand a need to continually adjust menus but I’ll take your word for it. Would it be more manageable if, while in port, they just served alcohol to those who pre-purchased beverage packages?
  23. Never heard of this. Found a nice recipe from David Leibovitz so I can pre-try this tonight ahead of my cruise 😋
