Recently watching the crew of the Discovery Princess testing the Marine Evacuation System

We are currently on a B2B2B2B2B on the Discovery. We have exchanged our minibar for a bottle of wine twice and 10 Do Equis and 6 waters once I think. At any rate, we have a lot of beer, wine, and water and two cruises to go.

Same here on the Discovery. Dress to Impress Night was impressive. All forms of dress from ball caps to tuxes. The photographers were busy and most seemed to be having a good time.

I agree. I was on this cruise - a five day r/t out of LA when kids were out of school- what would a person expect? I was also the 4 day 80s theme that preceded it and the 7 day cruise that followed it. All three had different vibes. All three were great cruises!

I am on the Discovery Princess and there are four FCCs. They even made an announcement about it last night at the Captain Circle party.

Another way is to ask for the same table number for each night (if you like your servers) then you just walk in each night. Next best thing to fixed dining I can think of.

No. I can add everything to the sign on using my firestick remote except birth month. Doesn’t matter. The internet is so slow it probably wouldn’t work anyway. I can connect my iPhone to the monitor and can sometimes stream apps like Netflix or Prime.

I’m on the Discovery Princess and the directional jogger under the middle of the TV has been blocked. Since I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of trying to hook up to the TV anyway, I brought a 15” portable monitor connected to a fire tv stick with an external 128 GB SSD that I uploaded several tv series and movies. Also Bluetooth speakers and a portable battery. Works well.

Xponential Fitness is the new fitness provider and sets out mats before their classes. Don’t know how they would react. Princess also provides mats. The mats are cleaned daily. IMO, I think it would be just extra weight to bring a mat.

We are on Discovery Princess now. Have been for last 9 days. Person at PSD told me only on first day of embarkation. She didn’t know answer to insurance.

I'm lousy at math. Still complicated for me to figure out best way to go. Glass of Canyon Road Cabernet Sauvignon $9.00 + glass of Canyon Road Pinot Grigio $10.00 = $19.00 + 18% tip = $22.42. $120 - $47 = $73 / $22.42 = 3.25 glasses / day. We tend to drink more than 3.25 glasses of wine per day, so it seems the plus package would work for us. I am not factoring in that servers often prefer making it a double and we often have specialty coffees in the morning. And I would use the 2 fitness classes if included, but not if I was paying for them. $30/class plus gratuity. OTOH, we have 2 B2B 7 day cruises coming up where we will have enough OBC ($1900 assuming we don't spend it on other things) to buy 2 plus packages ($1680), but it would cost most of our refundable military credit ($400). Which way do we go?

Since the time Princess started using that fastest internet at sea marketing slogan we have taken transatlantic cruises to and from Southampton/Fort Lauderdale, Northern Europe, and Iceland/Norway where we received compensation for slow internet based on the argument of northern latitude. Also, accepted that argument on a recent Alaska cruise. But, now we are sailing on the new Discovery Princess on Mexican Riviera and West Coast cruises with equally slow internet. We also have recently sailed on an Alaska cruise and a Panama Canal cruise on NCL with slightly faster internet than what we have experienced on Princess. So, how Princess can keep making that claim is beyond me.

This is a 5 day cruise out of LA with school out. Lots of families. Much different vibe than standard Princess cruise.

But apparently they are having trouble implementing it, so they refunded $10/day/person-$108.00. Yet, we still get the two fitness classes, but none of the other new features. Pretty sure she said it could be purchased with OBC, but I’ll wait until I can actually do it before confirming. By the time we get to the 4th cruise we will have enough OBC to purchase plus packages for the remaining cruises and a history of how much drinking we actually are doing.

We boarded the Discovery Princess yesterday in the quickest time ever in 35 Princess cruises. We were assigned Group C Arrival 12:00. We took an Uber from Long Beach Airport at 10:15 with a quick stop at Ocean Market to pick up wine and arrived at the cruise port shortly before 11:00. We went directly to elite checkin. When we were done she told us to go to the elite lounge, but on our way we were directed to boarding and we were on the ship by 11:15. We dropped our bags in our cabin, beds weren’t made yet, and went to Gigis for lunch. Ship was already crowded.

We are starting a B2B2B2B2B on the Discovery Princess tomorrow. The first three cruises we bought the Plus package. By the 3rd and 4th cruises we will have accumulated enough OBC to pay for the packages. Our behavior on the first three cruises will determine whether we do or not.

I call the the CVP 800 number (1-800-901-1172), not the regular Princess 800 number. In fact, my CVP tells me to do that in her voice message if I am trying to book a cruise.

Glad to hear. We start a B2B2B2B2B on Thursday. Different cabin each segment. Fortunately, all are fairly close to each other except the first cabin.

I kind of like the idea of the cruise line providing the resources to the best of its ability so that each person can enjoy their cruise in their own way without negatively impacting others. In other words, if people want to download movies or other uses of the internet I support increasing capacity vice telling them how to enjoy their cruise.

We are boarding Discovery 2/16. Hopefully, they will know what goes into effect on 2/20.
