  1. I’ve been cruising since 1998 and never paid a fuel surcharge. Maybe it depends on the cruise line. I’ve been on ships of all the big 3 plus Costa and Silversea, prior to being part of RCG and Regent before they were part of NCL. Pretty sure fuel has been higher in some of that period than it is now.
  2. Just for you, the first one is sold out and they added a second one on Feb 10th. No idea if they will have it on yours.
  3. I noticed at Guest Relations a sign to take a Galley tour for $29 a person. I’ve heard of this but never seen one offered on any Oceania cruise before.
  4. The wildlife photographer said the exact opposite today at his presentation. Usually calm but occasionally wild. But he said he likes storms so his idea of calm may be different than others.
  5. I’m no expert on French rivers and towns, but in the fall of 19 on Marina we cruised right to the town of Bordeaux, spent the night, left that afternoon. From what I understand it’s all about the tides.
  6. Suit yourself it’s your choice.
  7. So why is it when I’m at a presentation with pictures I get behind someone with a head as big as a balloon 🎈?
  8. Actually I think you get them from day 1 once you check in and step on board.
  9. Today is a sea day, we have quite a few of them. I think this is a full ship, maybe a few empty rooms. This has appeared to me to be one of the most crowded Oceania cruises I’ve been on. I’ve noticed a bit of behavior that I can only interpret as people sitting and waiting for someone to tell them what to do. It’s hard to explain, but imagine disembarkation day with people waiting for their number to be called. On Oceania you really need to be a self starter and be willing to entertain yourself. I’m very confident there are many people that will not understand what I’m saying. Overall the demographics on this cruise is skewing much younger than normal. I’m sure some first timers would read this and go “really”?, because there are plenty of 75 + that we normally have. I’m also pretty sure there will be quite a few of one and dones from some of the new cruisers to Oceania that I have talked to. If Oceania really wants to cultivate customers from the big ships then they are going to need some fresh thinking concerning activities. Or perhaps enough new people are looking for what Oceania has to offer, it’s not for everyone, and I understand that. But enough of that. Here’s some real information. There are 5 naturalists aboard, with today being the first day of lectures. I had to miss the one on penguins, but I’ll try to catch it on TV. I’m glad to see an effort for enrichment instead of just baggo and black jack tournaments to fill our days. Apparently many people are interested as the theatre is full for the lecture on Argentina. I expect the inside venues to get much more crowded in the next few days as it will be too cold for laying around the pool.
  10. I think you’re missing the point.
  11. I think I was very clear when I said reviewer, no one inferred you. But I’m still curious what you perceive as the problem with this process? No one is attacking you, just trying to understand. And truly, if they said there were a hundred people in the line then it was hyperbole and exaggeration. A 100 people would be a 1/6 of the passengers on the ship. Other than the size of the line, yes, that is the process on all the Oceania ships, always has been.
  12. Unfortunately there are a lot of people coughing everywhere I go on the ship. The only insight I have to that is if you go to a public place as in the theater and tell everyone that tries to sit next to you that you are really sick and they shouldn’t sit there, then you really shouldn’t be there. You should stay in your room until you’re better. Was it Yogi Berra that said common sense isn’t so common anymore?
  13. Sounds like a bit of hyperbole to me on the reviewer’s part.
  14. There is a new to me California Red blend on the by the glass menu that is pretty decent. Keep in mind I’m an amateur and have no real wine knowledge, I only know what I like. So, I wouldn’t really take wine advice from me. It’s similar to the Conundrum Red to my taste buds. I believe it’s by Field.
  15. Yeah, I don’t like Cole Slaw or oysters. I’ve never had them. 🙄
  16. So we ate in Red Ginger again and they knocked it out of the park. We had completely different choices than the first time and it was great. Teresa had Carmelized Tiger Shrimp & Watermelon Duck Salad. I had Vegetable Tempura and Potato Rolls for app. Mains were Twice Baked Chicken for me and Bulgogi steak for her. It was as good as we’ve ever had in Red Ginger. We have one more next week and I don’t know how they will top this. To top it all off for dessert the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl……again. Amazing how our small city Midwest team can keep doing this.
  17. Here is my adapter, I’m sure there are others that work. Keep in mind this is an adapter, not a converter.
  18. Yes that’s it other than the number of people mentioned. And all your party needs to be in the lounge/theatre. You get the ticket in the lounge. What do perceive as the problem with that?
  19. It’s all about location. Midship vs stern or bow and deck level. If you liked the A 3 no reason to spend more for others.
  20. We’re on a tour right now. I’ll see if I can post a picture when I get back to the ship. It’s a drive by, Oceania doesn’t do landings there. We end in Santiago Chile, port of San Antonio.
  21. There is a troupe of 12 singers and dancers in the Production Company. I think this is the largest I’ve seen on Oceania. I can remember when it was 4.
  22. I was wrong about the one change on the FCC. Once booked you can change it once, 181 days PRIOR to sailing. and for the named cruise it is also 181 days PRIOR to sailing. I’ll try to get exact penalty details later
