  1. I think they use other names due to some negative publicity with the Steiner name in the past.
  2. What we don't know here is what your room category is and how many days out you were able to book. Always makes a big difference.
  3. I was going to point out the same thing. You're going to have all these costs on any cruise. So you're way ahead of the game. I have one in February, we're using miles for the flight, points for the hotel room, and Elite perks for some drinks some internet. But we'll still spend a bit. But like many others we might bet $50-$200 in the casino when we cruise. Certainly not big spenders. On our last cruise we pre-bought $50 of play and she put her card in to access it. Maybe this triggered the free offer. We've had two others since we booked this one, so apparently we're on the list. We didn't book either of those as they couldn't work in our schedule.
  4. Is this for the Jan 4th cruise? Apparently these aren't as hard to get as some people think they are, if you got it with 40 days of sailing.
  5. Man, I hate to tell you, but you should have come here first, got insight from Oceania regulars then gone forward with the booking with more information. As you say, lesson learned. Unfortunately, it's an expensive lesson. Good luck with putting the rest of it together. As many of us often say, find an experienced Oceania Travel Agent and have them guide you through the ins and outs of their process. Enjoy your cruise.
  6. I see you enquired, but who else did? I went back and checked and see one other poster mentioned calling. Is there a thread somewhere on a Roll Call or a FB post that has the multiple people on it? I guess I haven't seen those, but have to admit I have not been checking Roll Calls during this period.
  7. Could there be any more confusion than the posts on this thread? Does anyone have any actual facts, or just supposition? With all due respect I don't consider what some customer service rep that answers the phone at Oceania as actual facts. On the other hand, if you talked to someone higher up in management that might carry a bit more weight.
  8. I 've never thought any balcony was too large or cavernous. I'm assuming you mean tunnel like. Some people complain of this, but having been in the extended balcony rooms on Marina it didn't really seem to be an issue.
  9. The "Advantage" perk is a new one on me, and we've been cruising with O around 13 years. I've definitely had the Ultimate a couple of times, the OCAPP gratuities quite a bit, some consortium perks like wine, chocolates, excursions, cocktail parties, and other odds and ends, but never run across the Advantage before. There's lots of things out there that apparently are not common.
  10. Actually there are 4. Look at the deck plans for deck 7. It's very apparent. Last ones on the front where it shows the wide deck and first ones at the rear where the deck gets wide.
  11. I don't think it's saying you get 4 more, it's just repeating the 4 you already would get. Or not. Have you asked your TA about this? I did find this, but it's a few years old. O Life Advantage "Things to Know".indd (oceaniacruises.com)
  12. This is where I get confused. I thought UK was a non tipping culture. Or does this only apply to restaurants?
  13. Yes, we will be docked at the Royal Dockyard. It's too big for either Hamilton or St George, although I've been to both on the smaller R ship.
  14. Thanks, but will the supplementary ferry NJhorseman mentioned be running at that time? On the Oceania Riviera.
  15. Does anyone know when regular service resumes? We're there March 15-17.
  16. What in the world would make you think FF has inside information? He's just a regular cruiser just like the rest of us. Jan on the other hand...............
  17. A lot of it comes down to how important more balcony space is to you vs the perks with Concierge. Some of the perks are worthwhile, some I could care less about.
  18. I mentioned on another thread, I think they are changing this in the update which is happening to Riviera at this time. Marina is up in the air apparently as to when they will do it. I don't know where I saw this so don't have a link. It could be a layout I saw for the new Vista ship in those categories. I'll see if I can find it.
  19. They have the same style in that spot on Regatta. I believe that's outside Martinis right before the casino.
  20. People dancing is the last thing I want to see while dining. On the other hand I wouldn't mind some soft string quartet music.
  21. Not necessarily a positive change IMO. Nothing against the cartoon restaurant, but in my experience certainly not better than Silk Harvest.
  22. Are you staying at the same hotel that Oceania is using?
  23. I think they are changing the TV in the OC in the updates. I believe it will now be in the living room area.
  24. I can give you an exact amount as I keep an email folder of old invoices going back to 2014 or so. Ours was in July of 2018 and it was $336 per person. What was fun on that cruise, besides Lyn and our TA being on it, was that our trivia team was made up completely of 4 couples that were all on their 20th cruise. We met by random on the first day of trivia, figure the odds on that. Our team name was The Freebies.
  25. Yep, it all depends on who is in that connecting room.
