  1. The terms and conditions for the upgrade bidding process says you will stay in your "original category" if your bid is not accepted. That is different from your original room and makes me think twice about trying to bid for an upgrade. Has this happened to anyone...you didn't get the upgrade and they changed your original cabin? 🤔
  2. I have a cruise coming up with one port.....Ensanada, and the port taxes/fees are $165 pp! Then, same Northwest Itinerary as yours (but no casino rate....), 4 ports at $267 pp. It's so weird.
  3. Just fyi....I was able to pre book an excursion with this obc. You have to go all the way to the payment page and then it automatically chooses the obc first.
  4. Yes. If everyone would give up their chair when they leave, there would be chairs for everyone. Why should someone waste their time making sure a chair is unoccupied for 20 to 40 minutes. I am not a pool deck person so never have problems finding a chair.
  5. Just a word of advice/warning. I don't know what the age groups are now but customer service reps tend to give you the answer you want. You may call and be told it won't be an issue to move up but the decision will be made by the staff on the ship. This happened to us years ago on Carnival. We were disappointed (kids wanted to be in the same group) at first, but it worked out. Both of my boys found friends in their group and had a fun time.
  6. Agree! Was just going to post pretty much word for word.
  7. In the morning, can me or my husband get 2 coffees at the IC? Do we just show both medallions. 🤔
  8. Here's one thing: Carnival has recently cut back on late night buffet options, and room service items, after 10am, are no longer complimentary (they still offer coffee and continental breakfast room service in the morning free). There have been complaints that after dinner, the only option, besides paid room service sandwiches, is pizza, and the line is long because of that.
  9. Going on a cruise that will probably be too cold/windy to sit outside. Looking for suggestions for quiet areas to sit and read on the Royal.
  10. So lucky to have the formal night menu and activities on a short cruise. I'll be sailing the Royal for 4 nights....that would be a wonderful surprise.
  11. My cruise has been "unavailable " for a couple of months. Opened up again for bookings a few days ago. Tried to see a pattern but cabins are scattered. Mostly balconies and suites available, a lot more expensive from when I booked. Also, the upgrade e mail came; again bidding is higher than i would have previously paid.
  12. It was interesting but then got bogged down with the blame game, in my opinion. No one knew what to do in the beginning and cruises weren't the only places people were congregating. Things were still normal as far as nba games, concerts, airlines, etc. We spent the last week, before the shutdown, at a very crowded Disneyland. 🤷‍♀️
  13. Isn't Zumba led by the entertainment staff, and also, not in the gym? To me this just sounds like a different company taking over, gym classes have a fee, as usual, but now you can also take classes in your room, on demand (on the tv).....I guess for those in the suites, not inside rooms.....lol. If they are smart, they will also keep the free morning stretch class.....gets people into the gym and, maybe, they can upsell them.
  14. Guest Services is a good idea. I am traveling with a medical device in a rolling suitcase so if my room isn't ready, I'll ask them to hold that while I get lunch.
  15. I couldn't make final payment on line for some reason, made the dreaded call, and someone picked up with less than a 10 minute wait. Processed the payment and received updated booking e mail and also updated on the app immediately. Also, received my shareholder obc within hours of my request e mail. Finally, have been in e mail contact with medical and they always respond within 24 hours.
  16. Thanks. They are marked. I will talk to the steward. Medical said just to check them with the Porter. Called Princess, regular customer service, and they said the same thing. I'm sure it will work out, I'm just a worryer.
  17. Thanks. I know "my mileage will vary " but when you get on at 11am, about what time have you seen your luggage arrive in thr cabin. I'm checking my dialysis supplies (way too much to carry on) and am a little nervous about that. Princess medical said just hand them to the porter and make sure they are in the cabin before sail away. I don't think I'll be able to relax until I see my boxes delivered.
  18. So, what time is a good time to get to SF. Don't want to go too early and be with the crowds coming off of the ship.
  19. I figured that. Was just curious 🤔. The app says to check back closer to the cruise for the menus. So, we'll wait.
  20. Anyone have dinner menus from a shorter cruise? We're going on a 4 nighter with no formal night.
  21. No, it was princess, an e mail. Probably targeted to west coast cruisers.
  22. They have a silly one trying to fill their ships to the Mexican Riviera. Free 5 night? resort stay when you book a Mexican Riviera cruise. Fine print says the resort fees and taxes could be $400 a night...🤣. Just give me a discount on the cruise, please....lol
