  1. Bigger wheels are easier for going up a step, such as the kerb when crossing the road. They are also much better for unpaved surfaces such as grass, dirt paths or sandy tracks.
  2. You could, but given recent price hikes, it might not be cost effective. Even with a 10% discount. Also read the penalty T&Cs in case you lose all or part of your deposit.
  3. Welcome to Cruise Critic. When you wish to reply to a particular post, press “quote”. The post appears in a blue shaded box in your reply. You now type your comments in the white space underneath the blue shaded area.
  4. I am going to read my way through all the posts. It’s a quiet night. Pity the OP has no punctuation skills! (Miaow!) It seems Celebrity and Royal cruisers with high status are more interested in the possible reduction of reciprocal perks. Few are interested in Silversea.
  5. You should just be swapped to the “similar” cruise, if that is what you want, with no extra charge at all!
  6. I would have thought quite the opposite. With SS booking hotels and flights, you will receive a full refund. No cancellation or change fees. As there are still plenty of future question marks regarding future cruising the Suez Canal, booking everything through SS is possibly a very good choice. Notwithstanding airlines and routes.
  7. When on a SS ship, conversation sometimes relates to how many days we have on Silversea. Very friendly, because everyone starts at the bottom. NEVER is loyalty level ever mentioned. Well, duh! That’s because loyalty is calculated in days sailed. If I start hearing passengers discussing whether they are Elite or Zenith, I’ll keep on walking. Silversea is a natural progression after Celebrity as we start wanting more personal service, larger cabins and included beverages. Will this move really encourage Royal cruisers to spend so much more money for their cruise?
  8. I can’t say that I’m happy with the status match either. It’s very one way in favour of the lower tiers of the other two brands. I have over 100 days with Silversea, but my Captain’s Club Elite now puts me up another bracket. When I board Silver Wind on June 5th, I should therefore receive an “upgraded” bottle of champagne in my suite. As Celebrity give double points for solo cruisers, and extra points for Retreat suites, I might even make Elite Plus, therefore 350 VS days. A free cruise is not earned that way though, if I read the terms correctly. Only 10% off new cruises. So I do receive a minor benefit, but I don’t think I deserve it via the back door. Silversea has enough ships to keep its benefits to those who have paid for and earned them. Mind you, I doubt CC and Royal cruisers are going to flock to Silversea for the free laundry! Those who have shifted over and earned their VS level are right to be upset. I absolutely get how @dawntrdr feels.
  9. Yes, I also liked the event in the lounge because of the opportunity to meet other people.
  10. $30 for a second device is for the whole cruise. I was on Muse back-to-back last year and was still only charged $30 once. I found it convenient to have both iPhone and iPad connected for photos to synchronise between devices.
  11. Yes, lunch is as you list, plus the Reuben sandwich and grilled salmon. Dinner is “Hot Rocks”, although you can elect to have the meal served already cooked in the kitchen. Filet steak, chicken, prawns, served with a jacket potato or other choices.
  12. I agree to first checking your documentation. Is it possible that you have been booked Port to Port minus air rather than Door to Door? Otherwise, as @mchell810 advised, leave it alone and wait.
  13. I think every other comparable cruise line has their 2026 itineraries out already. By lagging so far behind, Crystal could lose out on new business. I really want to book Crystal for some time in 2026, and would have booked by now with any other line. (Due to a March transatlantic booking with Silversea, sadly I cannot book Crystal’s world cruise.)
  14. I don’t know why you dread it? Have you had a yellow fever vaccination in the past? Medical opinion has changed, and it is now considered a life long vaccination. I was about to renew mine after 10 years, but now won’t have to. That saves $$!
  15. Did you try to order canapés from the venue themselves? You need to order from the “dine anywhere” menu. It is not just for room service. On a recent cruise, one couple had a meal delivered to the Panorama Lounge every day just before trivia.
  16. Like you, I live in a warm climate. On my second expedition cruise (Arctic), I ordered a larger parka to take home to my son. The “puffer jacket” liner is really good and useful, but probably I will never wear the outer shell again. My third jacket I donated to the charity shop as just not needed. I would never think of selling one on eBay, but there you go! A good find by your wife.
  17. This probably just means that the tours are not yet finalised. Often happens when the cruise is so far away. And as @RetiredandTravel advised, more times slots might be added. Just keep checking regularly. Definitely NO! A charged excursion will not be granted at no charge. What is the name of the town in question?
  18. There is a list in the onboard shop. These are items for purchase and need to be paid for. Toothpaste, sunscreen, etc.
  19. The makeup remover wipes are single packs and usually there are two in the bathroom on arrival. Simply ask your room attendant to replace as you use them.
  20. Perhaps she didn’t like the way Silversea was heading under new owners and wanted out because she wasn’t being given the authority to maintain its level of luxury? And jumped before she was pushed!
  21. I disembarked Silver Wind in January this year after an Antarctic expedition. I board her again on June 14th in Reykjavik. It will be interesting to see the changes. Sounds like the jewellery shop has been replaced, or reduced in size. The “toiletries being available” information was around last year, too.
  22. So the noise issue was only for a few hours each day? I must say that it is unlikely I would even be in my cabin much during those hours, but obviously you were. A pity you didn’t mention it to your butler, who might have been able to fix it as @drron29’s did.
  23. I did that one last year. Loved it! The rain forest walk was very pretty. I am usually not one to get my fingers messy, but I dug into this food with gusto!
  24. Thank goodness I will just be in transit on June 1st! (Glasgow to Oslo using classic rewards, hence not direct.)
