  1. You've been a lot of places but noticeably absent from your list is the Panama Canal. Can leave from Miami and go to L.A. through the canal...or do the turnaround trip. We did that trip and even though I wasn't as enamored with the actual canal as others are, it was still a great trip on the Bliss.
  2. Thanks for the reminder of the sale. I saw @laudergaylehad mentioned the sale on another thread, and after I saw it, I was ready to pull the trigger. But being the old guy that I am, I went into the NCL site and couldn't remember what I went there for. 🤪 Just went back to the site and "purchased" one. Now I'll have to "book" another cruise. I hate when that happens...
  3. That's pretty much what I said in regard to the promotion. My issue was with them using the term "booking". You book a cruise...you purchase a certificate.
  4. I don't know why they say there is a "booking window". You can book up to three years from purchase. Unless this is the window to purchase the special $500 promotion and it ends January 4th??
  5. Good point. I guess we can try it and the worst that could happen is we'd have to have them open it.
  6. This sounds like a good option, and one we would definitely like to try. However, as @chengkp75stated in another recent thread... "You can walk out with the bottle, if it is opened and partially consumed. The ship is not licensed to sell unopened liquor." If you've done this in the past, apparently this comes under the heading of YMMV.
  7. Exactly. The concept of not finishing a bottle of wine in one sitting is foreign to us.
  8. If I could make a deposit to get into heaven...it would be a hell of a deal. I guess the devil is in the details.
  9. Loving your review...as usual. A couple of questions re: Taino Bay. Mrs. Schmoopie had a bad tibia fracture in July and is just now getting around on a cane. How difficult is it for someone with limited mobility to: a). Get from the ship to where the action is? b). Get into the lazy river? c). Get around, in general. It seems like there is a lot of sand, which could be difficult. TIA...
  10. All drinks $15 and under are included on the basic Free at Sea Package. Based on the above menu, all beers would be included with the exception of Chimay.
  11. CruiseNext says they're only good on future reservations, not on existing reservations. However, numerous people say they're able to apply them to existing reservations. Does the same apply to CruiseNext (regarding being able to apply to an existing reservation?) If so, I'd love to get one and apply to our existing September reservation.
  12. Deposits are generally $250 on NCL and refundable up until final payment. Deposits on Celebrity can be $900 and not refundable. Of course they do offer the option to gouge you for even more money on your cruise fare for the privilege of getting a refundable deposit. Pretty lame, if you ask me. NCL has 10% off for Veterans off the basic cruise fare.
  13. And we're worried that bar in Choir of Man will be posting a "Going out of business" sign soon...or before our Escape cruise in September.
  14. Since you're looking for a review of the Jade, a good place to start would be the Jade review page. Here you go...we'll be in the Jade in two months. https://www.cruisecritic.com/cruise/norwegian-ncl/norwegian-jade
  15. Is this where the spelunkers hang out?
  16. Truth be told, we barely even look at the dailies when they get delivered to our cabin. Certainly have no use for them when we're not even on a ship. We tend to go with the flow and don't need a daily to tell us how to waste our time. As @graphicguyastutely points out, if you've seen one trivia, art auction, dance class or other meaningless time fillers/wasters...or sales propaganda inserts...you've seen them all. I don't need a daily to tell me important things like where the bars are. But as usual...YMMV.
  17. I can see asking who the Captain or CD is. Other than that, what difference does it make? It's not like people care about the Chief First Mate...😜
  18. I know it's a still picture, but I don't detect a sense of urgency from people arriving 35 minutes late. Especially the one on the right...taking her own sweet time.
  19. I've been on CC for umpteen years...and for umpteen years I've never understood the request to post dailies, officer pictures, etc. What a massive waste of time (for the person to have to take the pictures, post the pictures, waste their onboard internet time and then for the rest of us to have to scroll past the pictures). I just figured if I said something I'd be looked at as a grumpy old man (which I am). Thanks for putting my grumpy old man thoughts into words.
  20. By my calculations (of course, I've been known to be wrong) it's $1400 in OBC. But who's counting? Oh wait, we both are...😁
  21. I know everyone raves about the Vibe. We've never done it but have gone to Spice H20, which is also adults only. How is Vibe different...aside from having to pay extra for it?
  22. Every time I see someone asking if something is "worth it" I chuckle. The question of "Is it worth it?" is subjective, based on peoples' individual preferences, monetary situation, desire to do other things on the ship, etc. What's "worth it" to me or anyone else may or may be worth it to you. To answer your question, paying even $50 for the Thermal Spa for a week would not be worth it, since I wouldn't use it at any price (for me...YMMV).
