  1. That seems to be a problem I have with lot of photos on this site.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
  2. Another hot day here, 26c at present. Took a walk down through town with some of the family who came over to visit last night,. They also brought a meal with them, so no cooking.
  3. We were on Iona last year and ate about 6.30-7 pm each evening in the same restaurant and my mother too has allergies. The menu for the next day was given to her to read and decide upon, the same as the other ships.
  4. We are about half an hour from Palermo and the temperature here has been 35c. This is exceptionally hot weather for this time of year for Sicily. Palermo has a lot of interesting places to see and visit.
  5. Have just spoken to my daughter, and she was saying that the temps have dropped at home to about 12c We're heading off to the beach again this afternoon as it's hot. My phone is telling me is 30c, so it is more than likely hotter than that! This is exceptional weather for this time of year in Sicily.
  6. There is quite a lot of interesting things to see in Palermo. One day is not enough.
  7. The canolli I've had at home are nothing like those that we have had over here. Have you tried any of the street foods?
  8. We did the Flam railway trip, but we did it independently as it was cheaper than doing P&O's trip.
  9. I didn't think much of Catania when we were taken on a tour of the island years ago by family.
  10. Good for you! Go and have a fantastic time.
  11. No it wasn't me. I did go up the lift, but came back down in the lift. I think the trip you are talking about was at Flam, where you can go up on the railway and can either hike or bike back down. Pam
  12. Will look out for you as you sail past out of Palermo tomorrow as we are not far from there!
  13. Congratulations, glad to hear that things have turned out well in your favour.
  14. Spent the afternoon on the beach, although it was a bit windy it was still warm. Watched wind surfers and planes coming in to land while there. 20231013_153403.mp4
  15. Morning all, Sorry to rub it in, but sunny and still hot here, currently 26c, although Google has kindly informed me it is raining at homeπŸ™„ There was plenty of choice of seats for our January flight to Tenerife this morning, so they are now booked.
  16. Just picked up.on your thread, and am enjoying reading it. Hope you have a good cruise. We're at the other end of the island to Catania, but land based at my SIL's apartment.
  17. I have today received an email from P&O advising me I can book seats on our flight to Tenerife in January at 00.01 on 13th October, but as they are working on English time and I'm in Sicily, an hour ahead, I'll take my chances and have a look tomorrow morning.
  18. On our recent cruise, I went on an excursion leaving my mother in the cabin. Our steward saw me going out and before he finished he knocked to see if my mother wanted anything, and was most insistent that she was too ring room service if she was hungry before I got back. This was not expected of him and was a considerate gesture, which we thought was nice of him. I did thank him for looking in on her and said it was a pleasure. Nothing was too much trouble for him when asked, and we tip him at the end of our cruise.
  19. At home we have a green wheelie bin for general rubbish collected weekly. Separate bags for paper and card, plastic, tins, and a box for glass which is collected fortnightly with garden waste (chargeable, in a brown wheelie bin) collected fortnightly, which alternates with the other recycling.
  20. Yes, it is very confusing trying to get our head around it all!
  21. Although on holiday, still have usual chores of putting rubbish out, etc. and it feels cooler this morning although my phone is telling me it's 20c. I also saw the the South West, (home) is due torrential rain and potential flooding, good job our is on a hill, so I don't need to worry! Take care and enjoy your day.
  22. We went out for a walk this morning, ended up down by the beach and sat watching the planes landing at taking of from the airport at a cafe while having a cup of coffee, before walking back for lunch. It is hot, 31c.
  23. Thank you. Every year that I come here I end up with numerous bites, although not so many (so far) as we are later in the year. Although one always seems to blister, so I always come well prepared. I'm my own travelling pharmacy!🀣
  24. Hot and sunny and 23c already. I'm feeling a little sorry for myself as despite using insect repellent and taking anti histamine tablets I've quite a few mosquito bites. The worst one has blistered and swolen the area around it, as it's on my ankle it is also making it painful to walk. I am sure they wait for me arrive to make a meal of me!πŸ˜’
  25. I was on Britannia (15th to 22nd Sept) and didn't notice any she was looking the worse for wear! (I also sailed on her just after her refit) Food choices to me were very similar to the rest of the fleet post covid, with some days being better than others. I returned on home on Friday and tested positive for covid on the Monday, but did I pick it up on the ship or on my journey home? No one else in my party (there were 7 of us) has had it.
