  1. Wishing Pauline a Happy Birthday from me too. Hope she has a lovely day.
  2. The out of stock items, include beef, chicken and bread, veggies not affected, although I buy a lot of our veg from the local farm shops.
  3. I have just tried doing a Tesco shop online, but have given up as there are several items out of stock. I have decided to go to the store and get the shopping myself, at least I can find an alternative I would rather have, instead of those that are being suggested.
  4. It's another rainy day along with being windy and cold. The reservoirs need the rain though and we still have a hose pipe ban in place.
  5. Good Morning everyone, Hope that those of you that have snow and cold temps stay safe and warm. Down here we are in double figures and even had a bit of sun a short while ago, although the forecast for this afternoon is rain. I don't know what I have done but my shoulder is sore and hurts when I move, probably slept on it funnily! Hope it eases off.
  6. A good few years back we were sailing on Black Watch and it was my mother's birthday while on board and although we hadn't said anything she was given a cake and the waiters sang happy birthday. We were told that they knew as it shows up on the booking details (e.g. passport).
  7. Morning all, We have rain and wind. One of the advantages of living so far down is that we very rarely get snow. Take care, stay warm and safe.
  8. Sorry to hear your news, and the treatment goes well. Hopefully you will be well enough to get on Ventura in September. Take care.
  9. A sunny day down here, at present but we had a heavy rain earlier on. I need to take a walk down to the post office later, but other than that nothing interesting!
  10. We don't either. We keep getting a card from our supplier saying that they are in the area and to book a time to have one installed. It goes straight into the recycling!
  11. Good Morning to you all. Hope everyone is well and those of you who are ill are on the road to recovery and get well soon.
  12. I had my birthday on Iona last year and although my OH and mother informed the waiters of the fact I didn't get happy birthday sung to me, thank goodness!!
  13. The passes for the vapretto work out cheaper than single journey tickets if you are going to use them several times. We got a day pass, 25 Euros (while the rest of the family purchased a 2 day pass for 35 Euros) and used it to visit Murano and Burano.
  14. @Purdey16 Have a lovely time. We visited Maderia in about 2004 on our way down to the Caribbean, but didn't get there last year due to high winds. Hopefully next year as it is two of our ports on call. We have visited Venice once on Ventura in 2014 sailed in along the Guidecca Canal, then again last year on Azura but docked at Trieste and bussed in, so it was nice to spend some time exploring without having to keep an eye on the time. I would like to go again as there is still so much to see. We saw before we went away that they are suffering a drought and that some of the canals have dried up, and although we walked miles we didn't see any dry although we could see that the levels were lower. Hope you all have a good Sunday. Pam
  15. Yes, it is. We took the vaporettto to Murano and then took another to Burano before returning to the main island and walking back to our hotel, passing a chocolate shop en route.
  16. And a few more (I've no idea why some of them are upside downšŸ™„)
  17. We arrived home late last night, so after a trip out to Tescos have had a lazy-ish day sorting out e-mails, post and my photos. Here are some of the photo that I took. The first is of the floor at the airport, the next is the from the water taxi/speed boat as we left the airport. Next is of us deciding, which way is the the hotel? The next couple are taken from the front of the hotel. The red penguin is on the balcony outside the dining room and the last is the view from the front of the hotel. (I don't know why it's upside downšŸ„“!)
  18. I'm a coffe drinker too and surprised quite a few Italian's this week by drinking my espresso without sugar. I don't like ordinary tea, but will drink flavoured teas occasionally.
  19. Itā€™s been raining here this afternoon and itā€™s a little bit wind today. Headed out of Venice to visit an old friend of OH, so walked to station and then back on our return and got lost, but came across a film crew. Would have stopped to watch but it was raining. Headed out this evening to St Marks Square and on the way back there was a fashion shoot taking place by the Rialto Bridge. Itā€™s been an interesting day and my feet are now protesting at all the walking Iā€™be done.
  20. Been a nice sunny day here and have spent the day wandering around exploring. Found a nice shop full of leather goods, bags, etc, so am now the proud very of a nice new bagšŸ˜but according to hubby I donā€™t need any more. Took a gondola ride down the Grand Canal and then along of the side canals. Havenā€™t seen any dry canals as yet, but you can see that the water levels are lower. Am back at the hotel and recharging my phone as have taken masses of photos before we head of out again for dinner. Have a good evening.
  21. Sorry to hear you need antibiotics, hope you feel better soon. Yes, I did know of this fact as my hubby has his perscription sent electronically and my son gets collects it from the pharmacy where he works in Truro and brings it home.
  22. Just having a quick catch up after arriving at our destination. Weā€™re in Venice for a few days, Iā€™ll post some photos on my return. Didnā€™t see the Northern Lights last night at home as had an Earle night due to our early start this morning, but we did see some of the planets and constellations as it was getting dark. Catch up soon. Pam
