  1. Sailing from Cape Liberty next Thursday to Halifax and Greenland…watching with interest as this is unique itinerary
  2. Brilliance must have some new engines if she is in Leixoes on 16th and in Amsterdam on 17th May!! Do we think Brilliance will be doing the Norway routes ? Not sure why she is in Porto.
  3. I worked in a pub when at Uni. Does that count? Yes we kept all our tips.
  4. Are the Self Guided walks a Viking thing or for every ship when they are in port? Eg: choirs always perform or just for Viking?
  5. $3.55pppd x 2 in a cabin x 7 day cruise x 20 cabins …. =$994 pw x 4 weeks a month = $3976.
  6. Carnival Pride just had all her Greenland stops cancelled due to weather. They get extra Canada stops instead and $400obc. Sounds like you’re ahead of this storm.
  7. @uktog how’s the weather forecast? Reading that a Carnival ship a few days behind you is scheduled to hit some strong winds so may not make it- especially with tendering in Q and Nano.
  8. They are putting the event on the app.. no more invitations … this saves paper 🤷‍♀️ Then they can say no one is turning up at the event, and they will discontinue them… thus saving $2 bottles of cheap wine too!
  9. There is a group on a social site specifically for Royal Caribbean crystal block traders….
  10. X have in the last week changed their always included deal ( Wi-Fi/drinks/tips) and now the gratuities are Not included….
  11. As I understand it: the gratuity staff are guaranteed a salary - say $1000pm of which a % is paid by tips. If they don’t get the tips than RCI will top up the salary to ensure they hit the minimum of $1000. However, if there are several months where they don’t get tipped and have to be topped up; then the likelihood of their contracts being renewed decreases. Of course if everyone does pay their tips then their monthly salary far exceeds $1000 which is the upside. It was always said that the staff didn’t want the contracts on the UK based ships because of the reluctance to pay the tips.
  12. They shouldn’t have hired the girl….just saying !!
  13. They were awful ! The girl couldn’t sing. Playing to near empty venues when I was on! Good to know the new band are good… but bring back Wild Boyz !!!
  14. Surely part of bring in Europe is taking time to enjoy lunch? As the Europeans do. Not eating a stale squashed sandwich from the WJ.
  15. No, we went with the ships tour instead. Sorry.
  16. Yes of course you are, but it feels (to me) like you are looked on differently as your card is a different colour; your access to the elevators overrides others choices ( but that is fun to try!!!), and you have your butler trying to escort you everywhere which I found embarrassing. JMHO.
  17. Personally, I didn’t like being in YC as I felt I had no connection with the rest of the ship. It’s like sitting upstairs on a 747 and ignoring there are people “downstairs”. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the restaurant and the lounge area, and the butler got a few things for us… but I missed the buzz and vibes of the different bars downstairs. For me the perfect combo is having a JS and bring guaranteed to dine in YC so you get peace and quality at dinner; but you can still enjoy the rest of the ship without feeling you are “slumming it” going downstairs. When I book my next MSC (with in 3 years to maintain status) it probably won’t be in YC ( unless there is a crazy cheap bargain)
  18. Seems to be a trend! Meanwhile in England … https://sportsmintmedia.com/fulham-fc-royal-caribbean-international-construct-sponsorship-arrangement-for-2023-24-season/#:~:text=Fulham FC%2C the Premier League,Welcome aboard%2C %40RoyalCaribbean. Again not sponsoring the main kit. Fulham are currently 12/20 in the top league here. But they have only played 3 games of the new season
