  1. ***** check In time is NOT same as boarding time******

Why stand in the sun or rain, when you can sit in the air condition?!

Select earliest check in time that you can get. Show up about 45 minutes LATER than time selected, and you will be able to walk right past those standing (possibly in sun/rain) in line, and go right to check in. Then you get to sit and wait until they call your boarding zone in the air condition.

  2. Paradise 5-day. Grand Cayman and Cozumel at Christmas time!!?? Would love this.

I always think of the Gulf coast as being warmer than the Atlantic waters that time of year, too....

My experience on NW Florida Gulf Coast 20+ years and on NE Florida Atlantic coast 20+ years also, the Gulf is warmer 99% of the time

  3. Check in time is NOT the same as boarding time. Check in gets you into the terminal. Boarding obviously gets you on the ship.

Our experience was in NOLA. Had a check in time of 11:30. Arrived at the port about noon, walked directly past the outside line in the sun/rain, direct to indoor check in, as our checkin time had passed. In NOLA, upon checkin, you are given a boarding zone number, and Carnival calls by zones to board. We waited in the terminal air condition about 15 minutes.

    YMMV in Miami

  4. I'm looking from some advice from Carnival experts on three possible choices that I have at Christmas. Based in Orlando and looking at short cruises out of Tampa or Port Canaveral. Three options. Sunshine, Valor or Paradise. All have itineraries that are equally appealing to me for short cruise. Valor has good pricing for 4 nights but Sunshine length at 5 nights is more appealing.

Looking at two O/V. Any advice appreciated for a first time Carnival Cruiser! (previously Celebrity or RCCL)

  5. American Table info:

This new complimentary dinner concept is currently on the following ships: Carnival Breeze, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Dream, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Glory, Carnival Imagination, Carnival Inspiration, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Magic, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Pride, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Sunshine, Carnival Triumph and Carnival Vista. Please note: This experience may vary slightly among these ships.

  6. Actually, the Triumph was in the Destiny class at the very beginning. When the Victory came out they decided that the Destiny being smaller with one less deck than the Triumph and Victory should be in a class by itself. They then put the Triumph and Victory in the Triumph class.

Yup, what you said. Destiny got the 2.0 upgrades, and name change to Sunshine. We cruise on her 1 year ago today. Enjoyed that ship more than the Dream cruise 2 weeks ago. It's possible the change to American Table was the "cause".

  7. Check in time and boarding are 2 different things. There is no boarding 'time'.

Check in time gets you into the terminal where you receive your S&S card.

Boarding is by zone, which is assigned when you check in. You board when your zone is called over the PA system.

At least that's how it was last week in NOLA.

When your zone is called you start the trek up the slow moving, long, winding gangway to get on the ship.

  8. Ok, just off the Dream yesterday. Tables for 2 were 90* from what I expected. I expected side by side, but they were back to back. My chair never bumped the person behind me, nor did my wife's chair. Lots of space.

We were on a table (#688) between waiters stations on both sides. We received plenty of attention as they were coming and going.

  9. Just got off Dream yesterday from the key west Bahamas that was rerouted to Cozumel, Costa maya, and Roatan. Our room on deck 9 was freezing, as was most of all the indoors areas, especially the MDR.

Propulsion? No problem, mon. The planned 2 sea days after Roatan back to NOLA was no problem. We actually arrived in NOLA about 1.5 hours early, and that was after slowing down for a few hours just before entering the river.

We actually arrived a hit early in Roatan also. The captain backed that big ship into the narrow channel like it had a backup camera with directional lines on a dashboard screen in a car.

  10. We are on the Magic in June, and apparently Port Canaveral doesn't have the staggered check in yet.

We have FTTF, so I am in no rush.....

What if it gets rolled out and I don't choose anything?

Does it matter, since I have FTTF?

Guessing I'll get an email notification, or something..:D:D

At this time, you must pick a check in time, but if you have diamond or platinum or FTTF, simply ignore the time and check in when you get there.

We just did Sunshine from NOLA with check in of 11:30. Arrived at the port about noon, walked to front of the LOOONG check in line, and proceeded into the terminal where we had to sit along with everyone else until our boarding zone was called, maybe 20 minutes. Boarding zone assigned at check in time when you received your S&S card.

  11. I am not following? You are saying that a cabbie will defy traffic laws and speed to get you to the airport quicker because you are wearing a Saints shirt?

I'm pretty sure I made no mention of breaking any laws. I learned a long time ago to read exactly they way it's written. Don't apply your own interpretation.

What I'm saying is a cabbie will make every effort to get a " friendly" to a destination faster. LORD help someone wearing a Falcons jersey trying to get a New Orleans cabbie to hurry, especially when the Saints lose a game.

    Have a nice day.
