We play trivia and the other games, but we don't want any of the plastic shiponastick trophies. Just dust collectors to us. We have other ways to remember our cruises. SAS cards. Photos.

I guess most posters here were never kids.
That has nothing to do with it. Many of us have grown kids, and grandkids. When they don't cruise with us, we prefer quiet areas to have quiet conversations with other adults, without interruptions of someone else's kids running around our chairs, or in the pool yelling Marco Polo.
Maybe we like quiet areas to read a book, or listen to our own music thru EarPods without having to crank up the volume to drown out extraneous sounds/noise/kids.

Hurricane season is officially June 1 thru November 30. 6 months. Having been thru the eye of 2 hurricanes, and dealing with a dozen or so others, I would rather deal with hurricanes than tornados. Hurricanes you have days to watch, plan and prepare. Tornados not so much.
The captain is going to do his best to not endanger his ship, or his passengers.

IMHO, Carnival has made most cutbacks to increase their bottom line, and increase payouts to owners/stockholders. I've had enough of their cutbacks. Our next booked cruise is in February. We are retired, and lucky to live minutes away from some of the best beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, and have our own pool. We cruise to visit places we have never been before, and have been to most ports in the Caribbean, and after hitting them all, we may be done cruising.

We've cruised out of Florida which has generally fine been fine with a rough night here and there, as well as out of New York in the winter which was quite rough. So I was just curious.

Cruising out of NOLA, it takes about 8 hours to reach the Gulf. Smooth sailing near a port really has no effect on waters a day or two or three into the cruise. Weather can change quickly. Great today, not so great in 2 days.

Have you tried searching for that info on the carnival site?

Several have mentioned Conquest will be getting a Serenity deck while in dry dock in October.
Can anyone provide a link specifically showing this?
Here is what I find, and it does not specify Serenity deck.

Wondering how rough sailing is out of New Orleans? I've booked the Dream for next January.

No rougher than any other port.
I'm curious. Why would you think any different?

I usually go with the filet. Don't need a knife to cut it.

We cruised last September out of NOLA for Key West and Bahamas. We got rerouted by a storm to Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan. Oh darn! Rerouted to better ports IMHO!
You pays your money, you takes your chances.

First, the NOLA airport is not near the cruise port. Guessing 20-30 minute taxi ride. Check-in time is to get into the terminal, not to board the ship. We didn't have FTTF, and arrived about 20 minutes past our checkin time, and walked right past everyone waiting outside that arrived early for their time. IMHO, I would not want to be stuck waiting outside in unpredictable weather. After checkin, we had to sit 15-20 minutes inside the terminal waiting for our boarding zone to be called. Boarding ramp is a zig-zag ramp to the ship. Moved slow for us.

As a heart attack. That's why I live in Florida. I like it when I wake up and the temp is 75 and rising. Keeps my pool warm. I won't get in it until water reaches 85. Wearing more than shorts, tank top, and flip flops is not comfortable to me. I absolutely hate wearing long pants.

We were in aft balcony cabin deck 8, on Sunshine about a year ago, for a southern Caribbean cruise. Winds got up to 50 knots. Never noticed any rock, roll, or sway. Surprised myself, as I had to stop racing sailboats about 20 years ago due to seasickness.

Below 75 is too dang cold!!

Spiced rum and 7Up/Sprite. Tastes like ginger ale. That's my year round drink.

Isn't champagne made from grapes, same as wine, therefore making it a wine also? Just curious, I prefer rum.

Not really a lot to see. You are in only one channel of the mouth. Look at google map and see how many channels there actually are.
You're in open waters, then there are low levee's. I saw it going in and out.

What are high lights of the trip down the Mississippi. I'm on the dream in August.

It's about 8 hours to the Gulf from NOLA. Lots to see, but most won't have any real idea what they are looking at because they aren't familiar with the area. I loved it as I grew up around NOLA.

We had an aft balcony on Sunshine in 2015. Never again. Side Balcony yes, aft balcony no. As previously said, too hot. Most days no breeze, even on sea days. Ours was directly below the restaurant that became Latin dancing at 9pm until 2am. Bad choice by us.

As someone from south Louisiana, with French heritage (thru Nova Scotia) of many generations ago, I wish I could read and speak French. The little French I do speak is Cajun French, much different from what you speak. Merci Beaucoup = Thank You, Very Much
And now, please explain what a Filet Mignon is to you, as you have aroused my curiosity. Recently, I have seen it as Filet on menus. the Mignon part has been dropped.
Merci

Every door handle, elevator button, etc on the ship could have some sort of cold/norvo/allergy bug on it. Enjoy!

Carnival Pride - Boarding Day Question
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
If its like most other carnival ports, that is NOT your boarding time. Its your time to enter the terminal for check-in.
