  1. Did you not read the thread? Wifi SMS and wifi calling are blocked by Carnival. Facetime should work with any paid plan.
  2. ocean plaza buffet has been discontinued fleetwide.
  3. I think it was just normal turnover, accelerated by the COVID shutdown. Not many people can handle being laid off for something like 19 months and be willing to go back to that job. I wouldn't.
  4. I am not sure why Carnival still blocks WiFi calling at this point. The speculation I've read is because they want people to use the in-cabin phone, or Cellular at Sea roaming, presumably they get a spiff from those fees. But I don't have any proof of that. Internet and phone service is a huge missing link for the work from anywhere crowd, and it's a market that Carnival is entirely leaving on the table for their competitors. Their choice.
  5. also bottled by Niagara, the bottler of carnival’s water.
  6. yes and that is why you have to abide by the arrival appointment
  7. https://www.carnival.com/-/media/images/explore/dining/menus/captains-pasta-bar-menu.pdf
  8. If you do a mock booking, go back in the system and select a different room. Don't just abandon that booking and create a new one. That should prevent the room you took in the mock booking from being blocked in the system. This is one reason why a lot of "sold out" cruises still appear in searches etc. They're not actually sold out - it's just that people have so many rooms in their carts. I don't think the system blocks rooms for a day or two. It is probably closer to an hour or even less.
  9. Has a bottle of Dasani more than doubled in 2 years?
  10. How will they drive additional revenue to accelerate their debt payoff? Can they raise rates an additional 10, 20, 30%? They do have a few ships coming online so that does add a little more capacity, but not enough to really move the needle all that much.
  11. That's a good point - Carnival has a lot of debt at very high interest rates that will make true profitability very difficult for years to come.
  12. It's bottled water, there is no supply chain or inflation issue. Carnival is charging $12 for it because they want to.
  13. It is called the captain's pasta bar or something to that effect for lunch. It is not the full Cucina menu. Just pasta, bread, and Ceasar salads.
  14. You are expected to abide by your port arrival appointment at all ports of embarkation no matter if you have FTTF or are Diamond etc. This is one reason why I really don't understand why people still buy FTTF - it doesn't allow you to disregard your port arrival appointment anymore.
  15. The Cruise the Vineyards program is specifically for the restaurants.
  16. Royal Caribbean allows you to bring on bottled water if you wish so their price is less of a concern tbh.
  17. Coffee should be available 24 hours at the Lido buffet.
  18. You resurrected a year old thread. They are not in a suite so no they will not be allowed in the suite waiting lounge nor will they be allowed to use the priority lines at check-in.
  19. The next year or so will be telling. Their occupancy is over 100% so they can't grow by filling more berths really and there is very limited new tonnage coming online. The question is how much more can they raise prices and/or add charges to things that used to be included to continue to drive growth. A pack of bottled water is now $14 delivered to your cabin. Will people pay more than that, just as one example.
  20. Carnival charges if you order a third entree. Second is still included.
  21. I am not the one that said they would be profitable 2 years ago, that was the Carnival CEO or CFO that said that. As I have mentioned countless times on this board, I have no dog in this hunt - I have no position with $CCL.
  22. The fact that they are paying down principal is a good thing. Although I disagree with the notion that anybody "forced" them to take on so much debt. Certainly they were prevented from operating their business - pretty much unprecedented. But they took on so much more debt than their competitors. It's really made their position much more precarious than it needed to be.
  23. They can change mattresses at any time, they don't wait for dry-docks. I am sure that like most hotel chains they have a schedule of replacement for mattresses.
