  1. We cancelled our upgrade bid 9 days prior to sailing given mixed reviews for Princess Grill on current voyage, some passengers (only confirmed from one grills passenger but suspect likely others on board) confined with covid, and final straw being delivery of letter to cabin warning of norovirus! Happy with the cabin we chose and did not want to chance disappointment or even worse being confined if unwell after paying for an upgrade. Looking forward to boarding on Tuesday and enjoying all QV has to offer! Good luck to anyone waiting on news of an upgrade.
  2. Thank you - I have obviously been looking in the wrong place! In which case no excuse for such a late boarding time. We have usually embarked before 1, except for last September when embarkation did not start till 1 and consequently it was a bit chaotic in the waiting area.
  3. We have also been given 3.30 arrival time for 6 June. Very disappointing - no arrival/departure time for QV available at the moment. Cunard need to up their game with regard to embarkation organisation. Would be interesting to see how many passengers have been given 3.30 - this does not bode well for a relaxing start to our holiday.
  4. A snack is a snack - why would you want to enter a dining room and expect table dinner service? Dinner is dinner - enjoy it and the service involved.
  5. Yes - wine will be kept for you and free water is in plentiful supply in all restaurants.
  6. You will all have an amazing time in Liverpool - what is not to love - it is a hive of activity at the moment with the build up to the Eurovision, and of course you will enjoy the coronation celebrations on board! Very jealous but hoping for some great blogs along the way!
  7. Delighted for you - I hope others on the cancelled TA have been as successful and wish you all a very enjoyable, special voyage!
  8. We have found variations in CPS charges and consequently have opted for Chilworth Manor for our Queen Victoria cruise in June - stay/park - and CPS for our November cruise on QM2.
  9. Commodore Club would be our first choice on QM2 and Queen Victoria, followed by Chart Room QM2 then Golden Lion. We find the Chart Room on Queen Victoria a bit of a non entity and the Golden Lion on Queen Victoria dark and claustrophobic - only good for embarkation day lunch.
  10. Agreed! You are either in or out with/without additional tips. I also think we cannot compare like for like given UK never have gratuities included unlike some USA/other nationalities. Do what you feel is right for you.
  11. Thank you - will check them out! PG showing as sold out anyway so would imagine slim pickings if any.
  12. We have also received the email having booked our Queen Victoria cruise on 6/6 direct. Will likely have a punt for Princess grills for the benefit of the dining and grills lounge/terrace. We have no interest in Club balcony given location of cabins (our chosen cabin is in a much better position) and separate dining options being the only benefit.
  13. How very disappointing - I feel you have been robbed of what by all accounts is a highly anticipated memorable occasion. We were on a segment of QM2 World cruise in 2019 and embarkation (Hong Kong) disembarkation (Singapore) we’re seamless - obviously pre covid! Friends we met on board reported back that the World Cruise gala was a spectacular affair, everyone in full evening regalia and treated like VIP’s which was held in a Middle Eastern port (sorry can’t remember) en route back to UK. Delighted to hear you are continuing to have an amazing time and thanks again for your updates.
  14. Thank you Roscoe and Crofters for taking the time to entertain and update us armchair travellers! I know that Roscoe is a seasoned World cruiser - particularly on the QV, but can I ask if this is your first World cruise Crofters and if so are you enjoying being onboard and is it living up to expectations? Asking as one who is seriously considering a WC in the next couple of years.
  15. I have given up! Thankfully Roscoe39 is back on board QV to provide real insight and entertainment, and hopefully Crofters will update us with snippets from QM2 from time to time.
  16. Given budget I would recommend deck 5 (sheltered balcony) mid or mid aft.
  17. Thank you Crofters! Exactly the feedback I was hoping for and expecting. Sounds like the Centenary World cruise on QM2 has got off to a wonderful start and hopefully will continue. I for one am very grateful to you for taking the time to give us an insight into what is happening onboard and would appreciate an update from time to time - Wi-Fi and time permitting! Wishing you all a wonderful voyage!
  18. https://www.theworldvoyageqm2.com/ Following, however, not impressed so far. Not enough information/detail with regard to the onboard atmosphere and daily experience of a world cruiser - bars, dining, guest speakers, interesting shipmates and characters. As someone who would like to take a world cruise in the not too distant future this blog is not setting the scene for me. I can search for factual tourist information on Google.
  19. Had no complaints with Britannia dining experience on Queen Victoria 23.9.22-7.10.22. Excellent service - as good as we have had in both Queen and Princess grill - and happy with quality of food/menus.
  20. Had no complaints with Britannia dining experience on Queen Victoria 23.9.22-7.10.22. Excellent service - as good as we have had in both Queen and Princess grill - and happy with quality of food/menus.
  21. Unfortunately CPS no longer unload your luggage. Very simple and smooth procedure but you are now responsible for offloading your own luggage and transferring (trolleys available) to staff who transit it to ship. You still leave your car for CPS to park.
  22. Have just returned from 14 nights on Queen Victoria and have to say we had excellent service throughout in terms of cabin steward, waiters, sommelier and bar staff. Our cabin steward, Emmie, was the best we have had including those in Princess and Queens grill - nothing too much trouble - proactive, attentive and efficient. The standard of food in the main dining room was as good if not better than some previous voyages, although we were not impressed with Coriander or the pub. We can honestly say we had a very positive experience which met and in most areas exceeded our expectations.
  23. Sorry not of 5148 - just had a look in when walking past - but this is 7034 taken from cruisedeckplans.com. Bed configuration and windows on opposite side but you can get the gist of viewing options from the bed/sitting area.
  24. I am currently on board and had booked 6146 for a future cruise due to the positive reviews about extra space/balcony outlook etc. Having now seen inside 5148 (same position as 6146) I am looking to change it due to the position of the bed and settee facing aft and window being on an angle facing forward - hence no view out when in bed/sitting, only view of opposite wall and desk/tv.
