  1. Taxi are available from the marina ... pre-schedule a pickup at Matira with the driver who takes you over to the beach. There is also the IC Moana across the street from the beach ... I'm sure you could go over there and ask the desk to request a taxi 😉
  2. There is a 'Champion' market one block away. Several places to eat close by. Food trucks are a 15-20 walk. You can rent a car from Beni (Fare Suisse) to drive around the island. Pictured: Breakfast at Fare Suisse
  3. On budget? Check out Fare Suisse ... I've stayed there many times. Close to town ... reasonable, smaller rooms that are clean and have A/C. Inexpensive breakfast ... they provide free shuttle service to and from the airport.
  4. Kon Tiki is a solid pick ... not the cheapest or the most ... right in the middle. Newer hotel right across from where the ships dock ... easy 10 minute taxi ride. I'm staying there in January ... I've stayed at most of the expensive places ... they are nice but this place fits the bill just fine. For expansive resorts/landscape/pools you will need to pick and expensive property such as the IC Tahiti, Hilton or Pearl ... the IC is a large property with extensive gardens and pools.
  5. Might help if you told us things that are important to you and your budget 😉
  6. I mention Regent simply because the poster has enjoyed Regent ships in the past. I just happen to be on one in FP next month.
  7. You do know that Regent has a ship that visits FP ... I'm on one at the end of January ... 10 days all in FP. Looking forward to it.
  8. More than hummingbirds in the garden ... this little guy wanted some peanuts.
  9. The restaurant can call for one .... or you can tell the driver to return in a few hours to get you
  10. Cute little guy this morning ... 135mm, 1/500, F/5, ISO 640
  11. Love those hummers ... Taken in my garden this afternoon ...
  12. May I suggest something very good but the prices are very fair ... https://www.facebook.com/lelezardjaunecafe https://www.facebook.com/snackmahana (only open for lunch)
  13. Love snapping pictures of hummers in their own habitat. Taken in my garden ... Sony RX10IV
  14. FP wetter season and potential for rougher seas is early December - the end of March Your going across the equator ... it is always a bit more turbulent 😉
  15. Actually some countries are now requiring longer than 6 months. One cruise we are going on in the Pacific requires 9 months and also insurance. I agree with so many others .... study the requirements and verify yourself 😉
  16. WOW! Some big ships ... hopefully your aware that the large ships can not visit some islands.
  17. Burrrrr .... it's pictures like this that remind me of why I live on the Central coast of California 😁
  18. A little something from my garden this evening ... iphone SE3
  19. Taken today with my iPhone SE3 (cheapest current model) The fall colors of wine country in my area. It's called Heart Hill ... No filters 😉
  20. A few taken from last weeks trip to French Polynesia ... my 31st trip to this photographer's dream location. No filters ... only basic lightroom. Sony RX10IV - sunrise in Bora Bora on the pool deck. Sony RX10IV - Taken cruising in the lagoon of Tahaa ... Bora Bora is 13 miles away in the distance. iPhone SE3😁- Taken in the lagoon of Bora Bora
  21. Just off the PG ... Regent Navigator in FP in January. Pictured is Moorea from Magic Mountain.
  22. Just off the PG ... for my 16th time. I will give a detailed review later but I'm addressing the draft issue. Both can go to any of the islands usually visited by both ships. The Regent ship has a slightly deeper draft but not enough to make any difference. Though PG is home based in FP at on time it was a Regent ship so the line knows the islands/vendors. The Navigator is an all suite ship ... smallest cabin is 300 SF, Cat F, E, D and C on the PG are all around 200 SF minus the balcony. Regent includes most basic excursions whereas you pay on the PG. I will be on the Navigator in FP in January. Looking forward to this cruise so I can have a comparison. I love most of the things about the PG but competition is always good ... Will be on the Star Breeze in October, 2024. As far as pre/post stays most pick Moorea ... so accessible from Tahiti. Many go to FP for Bora Bora but many fall in love with Moorea 😉
