  1. It is always a team effort. The staff that deal directly with the customer would fall on their faces if not being propped up by those behind the scenes. Gratuities are part of the compensation for some staff, including the people you never see.
  2. Only Princess knows who and how much work the crew not seen by passengers does. Letting Princess distribute the tips is the only way to not cheat many of the staff out of money.
  3. Of course the menu changes and not just the prices. Someone stuck in a rut might not notice.
  4. Interesting. I know 2 Celebrity cruises made it last year and I was on one of them. I heard it was a 50-50 shot.
  5. So none of the money goes to Princess. Zero. There is no conspiracy.
  6. That is absurd. Because they allow you to doesn't mean they want you to. Tradition and industry standard. A cruise line would be at a competitive disadvantage to do so. They would have to raise cruise prices higher than the competition and we all know cheap people pick cruises based on price alone.
  7. Besides currency being filthy? Or the purser having to have a zillion dollars in change including coins for those who calculate to the nearest penny? I remember the jingling of coins in the envelopes and more than one breaking open. There is no conspiracy to see here.
  8. I had more but didn't want to jinx you before the Falklands. Too many people miss them as it is.
  9. I print everything. I don't care if their systems are down.
  10. If you linked your bookings, you gave them permission.
  11. Some light reading now that you survived! https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/drake-passage-rough-sea-scn/index.html
  12. Yes, no, maybe. I love the items that state cruise line approved - as if cruise lines approve any of them.
  13. While fans may be allowed, it is a judgement call at the port as to whether something might be a safety hazard - e.g. condition of the fan or cord.
  14. I don't see much of a distinction between someone sneaking off of the ship and someone with status sneaking off non-status passengers.
  15. Last year on Infinity, the helipad was open to everyone to imitate popsicles in Antarctica.
  16. There are 3 types of penguins (king, gentoo, Magellanic) at Volunteer Point. There are lots of King penguins. Most of the penguins are segregated, but free to move around if they choose. Next time, I'm going to Seal Bay which is even farther. Not as many penguins, but up to 5 varieties!
  17. You seem to imply the customer is always right, when the fact is, they aren't.
  18. Really it should be coming and going. To try to limit what you might bring in, and what you might have picked up and leave with.
  19. Certainly sometimes it is. One has been posted on CC before. From the current cruise.
  20. Does Princess not have fans available to borrow?
