  1. I'll be right outside the WJ 🙂 "Pssst hey fella... yeah you with the mug... wanna buy some half? I got yo hookup right here" -
  2. Ok am I just imagining things or didn't they (or someone here) mention that the Ultimate Abyss dry slide would no longer go on Allure, even when it gets Amped? I think it had to do with leaving one Oasis class without the view of the slide . Darnit I can't find any proof, so chalk this up to misinformation for now, but I swear I read that somewhere.
  3. Yeah don't believe the language in the adverts for anything you shop for. Fact remains is that the people checking bags aren't trained to ID what's legit and not legit in terms of having the surge protection, so they err on the side of caution and anything that looks like a power strip will get you to the basement 🙂 Your results will vary since this involved a lot of human contact to determine what's in your luggage. I had about a dozen successful trips with my old power strip, and then on one cruise it got confiscated. I now use a 'power strip' that has a detachable cord. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charging-GaNPrime-Detachable-Extension/dp/B09SG31NPT It's not on sale right now, but I place the cord in her flat iron bag, in her luggage. when the cord is detached, the rest of this just looks like one of those portable batteries, so I put it in my carryon backpack. So far so good.
  4. Wait for it... I could see Royal implementing fractional points for all 3rd/4th berths! They are paying fractional prices, so why not reward fractional points?
  5. Our 18yr old's online account and Set Sail Pass are both still showing "Diamond Plus" so he hasn't been reset...yet. We sail Friday. I wonder if it's based on time of booking, as he was 17 when we booked this upcoming cruise. Or perhaps we're in for a surprise when we get onboard and discover he has been reset and it's just not showing correctly in the App. Although it wouldn't be surprising if he is reset, and Royal IT just doesn't show that online yet. He has a soda package with internet, so I don't think he'll miss any of the other perks. We shall see Friday.
  6. Please! Consider the Love & Marriage game show!! It's one of my favorite things to hear from couples that have been married for 50+ years! I won't give you any spoilers in case you haven't seen this show, but please please go and please participate!
  7. This.. why is it so hard to keep up with family without technology these days? We did it growing up, and for hundreds of years as humans. I think it's just inexperience for the next generation, and how to do things without tech. A portable dry erase board with magnets - hang on inside stateroom wall. You can hang it outside the room on your door, but I'll just come by and edit whatever's there 🙂 And usually, we'd have predetermined meetup times for things like lunch, dinner, shows, etc... so when not needing to meetup, I was comfortable not knowing precisely where my kids were.
  8. Are these prescription medications legal to carry, federally speaking? I think folks here are assuming that you're asking about standard Rx drugs you get from CVS, etc.,, and not something you get from a "medical dispensary" that several states now have. That sort of prescription medication isn't allowed due to federal guidelines, regardless of their allowance in your home state. Doubt that's what you're talking about, but thought I'd post this as a disclaimer.
  9. Someone floats the "Where does gratuity go" card around here from time to time and it shows you how much goes to the main waitstaff. You could take that amount, multiply by number of days you're cruising, then have your auto-gratuities adjusted down at Guest Services. We're always talking about how you can go to GS and have tips removed from your acct, but you can also have them adjusted down (or even up!)..
  10. Late last year they started providing a $0 receipt for Diamond Vouchers. This allows us to write in a tip. This got off to a rather inconsistent start though.. Even on my first cruise with this policy it was hit-or-miss at the bars I redeemed vouchers. If I had to guess, the next step will be to show the cost of the drink on the receipt, add 18%, then deduct the cost of the drink on the receipt so that it might look like: 1. Strawberry Blonde : $14 2. Gratuity: $2.52 3. Subtotal: $16.52 4. Voucher Credit: -$14 5. TOTAL: $2.52 You would normally pay the full gratuity on a bill at a restaurant before any comps are applied, as the comps aren't the fault/concern of the server.
  11. I think that would be pushing your luck. I steer clear of cancelling "Sold Out" items for concern RCI may not return my cancelled product to the available inventory... or at least not return it to available inventory within a reasonable time frame. Cancel at 5pm, it may not return to inventory until Midnight, then someone else nabs it because you were asleep or forgot to refresh every 15 mins. Interested to know though if others have cancelled a sold out activity and been able to rebook it immediately. I have no factual information, only speculation, on how it might work.
  12. And here I was thinking I was the only one enduring this ritual! We need a support group. I especially love when we first get into a room and I can't touch anything. I can lay on the bed.. She'll clean the remote then give it to me .. Then she'll stink the place up with Lysol and I'll go for a walk.. lol
  13. They found us a table, I think probably by taking from an unassigned MTD table. But yeah, our SeaPass cards still had our original table #.. But my card was peeling (from 2022's bad card batch) and when I had it replaced, it showed my correct table #.
  14. Heh I was on that cruise and I always suspected that Jim's position was added as an action-item after that cruise! I also used to think that's why the "wind speed" isn't shown on the Navigation channel on tv anymore...but that thought was debunked on my past couple of sailings as it's there again. But how many passengers, especially 1st timers, even know that there was a chief meteorologist? Is RCI the only company with a staff meteorologist? I don't know if NCL or Carnival have one, but I'd feel safe traveling with them without knowing.
  15. I constantly see people cleaning areas of the ship during our cruises. They probably deep clean more than your typical hotels. And don't get me started on airplanes! Do you think they sterilize those seats and trays between flights that have a 45 minute turn around? My GF wipes down the entire room when we get in there, and the used cloths have some brown on them, that's to be expected, but it's by far a lot less than when she wipes down hotels and airplane seats. There are thousands of rooms being cleaned daily, and sure you're gonna occasionally get a bad cleaning. But I think that's the exception to the norm, and the solution would be to just wipe down the high touch areas if you're concerned... and if you're not concerned, then I'll join you in the lounge while our travel partners clean our rooms 🙂 So I think they are on par with other travel segments.
  16. You may have something else going on there. The link is to Cruisehive, with a valid ssl cert.
  17. I forgot about this guy after I followed him on Twitter and he'd occasionally spew political tweets. I asked him if his Twitter acct was part of RCCL official messaging or his own personal soap box, and recommended that he create a dedicated Twitter acct for Royal's Meteorology. I fully support his right to give his opinions on the political climate, but that wasn't why I followed him on Twitter. It felt like a bait-n-switch "hey follow me for Royal weather and as a bonus, I'll tell you how I feel about xyz" Oh and I don't use twitter any more so I guess that's also why I forgot about him.
  18. I don't even know what I'd recommend, as both are great in their own way. I do like the Aqua theater! But I like the 270 venue over the ice rinks because it doubles as a cool lounge when no shows are going on. I like Music Hall better on Odyssey than Oasis as well, if you like live music. Oasis is probably the more "kid friendly" ship although neither class would be considered an adult haven. They'd both have lots of happy families onboard. I think you should do it - give the Quantum class (Odyssey or any other) a try!
  19. We were none the wiser with our MTD being perfect for years, until 2022 and I ran into our first issues with it (particularly long lines). We ended up being put onto Early-Traditional and that's become a better solution for us. We let the Matire'd know of our Spec Dining nights so they can fill our two-top from the MTD line quicker, but I guess at least on the last cruise they still held our table until like 6pm (per the people sitting next to us).
  20. Winner Winner! "Excursions can be modified or cancelled up to 48 hours prior to port arrival without penalty."
  21. Actually, and I did not know this, it's 24 hours, and it just says "charged a minimum of $10" if you cancel within 24 hrs.. whatever that means. Anyway, maybe it's a bargaining chip. Here's their policy so you can take this to them, clearly stating 24 hours. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/specialty-dining-restaurant-cancellation-policy
  22. We're 24 days out ourselves on Oasis, and it's $75.99 so ya you're seeing better pricing on the newer ship. But everything on Oasis is so $ right now. ugh.
  23. Posting this in hopes that my consistency to be wrong all the time benefits you and a sale pops up next week! I hope you find some sales, but August + Oasis = $$$. Oasis is a cash cow out of NJ in the summer because it is so convenient for families. While My Nov cruise (Radiance) dropped their prices today for Dining and Internet, Oasis prices are higher than ever before for our June cruise. I thought someone here said Oasis was the most profitable ship in the fleet in 2022? But I couldn't find that post so I made it up or saw it on another Social site.
