Well I have to report that the Equinox wins over the Edge in its teatime scones in the Retreat Lounge (butler made an express comment there is no longer a Michael's Club). Though I liked the idea of bite sized ,the original biscuit sized scones still offered on the Equinox were warm adding to their appeal. Next in line was the creamy sweet cheese cake, which made the donut bland and the eclair cream center bitter. If one must, I recommend starting with the eclair, then donut, followed by scones and finishing with the creamy cheese cake. I passed on the quiche. (My diet on land consists of no sweets).

OMG ! - My mouth is watering

    Keep up the informative posts

  2. Thank you so much for these posts - glad to hear that Covid tests are no longer going to be required if you have proof of vaccinations

We are due to board the Equinox on September 26th - can't wait !!

We will be sailing in a Sky Suite - love those Aft Suites !

Can you further explain the tracer wrist bands ? - Are they for everyone ?

There is no place to enter you vaccine status online.   On some prior sailings they have been calling to inquire about your status.   Other than that if you are to be considered fully vaccinated you must produce your original (no copies) CDC card at the port where they will take a picture of it.

Thanks - I was pretty sure that others had mentioned "entering" vaccine status somewhere - thanks for the clarification

  4. We are excitedly looking forward to FINALLY cruising again - on the Equinox -

    Sept 26-Oct 8

Hoping to be able to hire private shuttle (don't like to take smallish taxi's or Ubers - difficult for "hefty" seniors to get in and out of) from the FLL Cruise=port to catch an 11:50 AM flight out of MIA home

Any RECENT experiences on disembarkations in FLL ?

    Thank You !

We have changed our flight to arrive earlier so looking for a hotel closer to the action.

We have stayed at Embassy before & liked it.

Hilton Marina is also 60K points--is it better than ES?

I know there are many restaurants close to ES.

    How about the Hilton?

Previous reviews say STAY AWAY from the Embassy Suites !

We are staying at the Hilton

  6. Is this to the MIA Airport ??

Looking for transportation from Ft. Lauderdale cruise-port to MIA when we disembark from the Celebrity Equinox in early October

Using the "taxis" at the cruise-port are smaller - not really good for a "heafty" senior citizen to get in and out of easily

Can some one recommend some sort of private transportation where a larger (SUV ?) vehicle would be available ?

    THANK YOU

Just noticed your name GreenValleyDogWalker, we also live in Green Valley, AZ.  Nice to see someone from our area planning a cruise besides us.  We are on the July 17th Edge cruise, so ready to cruise again.

Wow - what a small world !!  My CC name is because I am a volunteer at the Animal League of Green Valley

Yes - we are certainly ready to start cruising again (after having so many cancelled last year !)  we are jealous that you get to cruise in July, when we need to wait until September

Have a GREAT TRIP !!   😁😁   And keep in touch  !!

We are booked on September 26 twelve night cruise. It’s looking like this may happen.

We are booked on the same cruise - yes - looks like it might actually be happening !!

(hooray - after all of the cancellations we have endured !)

A while ago the "restrictions" included cruises from USA ports be limited to 7 days - anyone hear any updates on that part ??

Has anyone else not received a 10% off discount FCC for cancelled May 2021 cruises?  I had 3 May cruises cancelled and I did not receive any, even though the ones I received for last years cancelled cruises were already used for other bookings (as required in NCL's letter).

    Just curious.  Thanks.

We got the 10% discount - and already used it for a future booking - we were able to really "upgrade" to an awesome suite - sure hope that we actually get to sail !! (November 2022)

As the CDC framework document limits cruise to 7 days until November, I doubt that you will be enjoying a 12-day cruise in September. At the same time, the Caribbean islands have yet to introduce COVID-related protocols governing cruise ship visits, so an additional hurdle. As things stand today, your chances look very slim to me, but a lot can change in 6 months. In your shoes, I'd keep monitoring the situation and delay reaching a decision until closer to your final payment date.

Thanks for the response - I heard about the 7 day limit on cruises - did not know that was through November.

OK will - start looking at cruises in 2023 !

I did the tequila tasting at the discover Mexico park through an excursion from NCL, that tasting is run by Jose Cuervo. We tasted three types of tequila with different foods... the most expensive one with a nib of dark chocolate was the best. We then got a margarita afterwards and time to wander around the park. The discover Mexico park also has a a chocolate workshop and an art workshop.

So - would you recommend this Shore Excursion ?

We are hopeful that cruising will resume, and that our January 2022 Cruise on the Breakaway from New Orleans happens - I did notice that NCL offers this excursion...

    Thanks

Assuming that there are destinations that will accept them for a port stop. While many Caribbean islands (and Bermuda) are accepting tourists now, conditions are not conducive to 1-day visits. For example, tourists travelling to Bermuda "must take a Covid test upon arrival and quarantine in hotel room until results are obtained (usually six to eight hours)." Whether these countries will make exceptions for cruise passengers remains to be seen, but until the CDC and the cruise lines agree on health protocols, I don't think that the islands will be in a big hurry to relax their own protocols.

Just wondering what you think about the odds of our September 2021 - 12 Day Southern Caribbean (Equinox) will sail from Ft. Lauderdale ?

Don't think we would want to sail if we have to wear masks !

We are tryin to decide if we should cancel prior to final payment date (we would be "paying" for the cruise using FCC's "earned" when our Caribbean cruise - September 2020 was cancelled)

    Thanks

We've been on the Dawn twice. Once in a Family Suite with Balcony and once in one of the forward facing DOS without the balcony.

The major issue we had with the Family Suite was the step up into the bathroom. You can see it in the photos posted above. It will likely cause you issues at least once on the cruise. We loved the size of this cabin for two people. It was great. The balcony was also large and we did use that some -- we only had one sea day on that cruise, so we didn't have a lot of down time.

The second time we were on the Dawn, we chose the DOS with two bedrooms because our friend was traveling with us. We did miss the balcony some, but we had great forward-facing views. If you are already wiling to be without a balcony, you might want to check the prices on these. We got a good deal on our suite because it didn't have a balcony. Even though we had the drink package, it was nice to have the bottles of alcohol and all the mixers in our cabin.

While we don't spend a ton of time on the balcony I would always prefer to have one. The Family Suites/DOS are good alternatives because they offer great views and you don't feel enclosed.

    Thank you for this information

The only suites that are not SOLD OUT (still) at this time are the Family Suites -(SP)

but I will keep looking !
