they are not just a little larger, they are double the size. Plus the much larger bathroom. The Dawn also has family suites with balcony for a higher price. But I did not miss the balcony at all!

Good to hear that the are DOUBLE the size ! - Thanks

(No Family  Suites with Balconies currently available for our Itinerary - but will keep checking!)

I sailed in a Family Suite on Dawn a few years ago - and had the same worries. Turned out I didn't miss the balcony at all. It was only one flight up (with stairs right by the room) to the open decks, so that helped. Loved the floor to ceiling wall of windows and would book one again without hesitation.

    THANK YOU !!

Just booked it !! (Cabin 12006)

  3. We are hoping that cruising will be back in full swing by the Spring of 2022 - and are looking at the Transatlantic from N/Y to Southhampton -

on the NCL Dawn - April 2022

We have always loved the Aft Balcony suites - to enjoy watching the wake - and just sitting out on the balcony

HOWEVER - Now looking at a Family Suite - (12006 - Category SP) near the front - just a little bit bigger (although there are only 2 of us seniors) but no balcony.  The attraction for us to this category is the separate tub and shower. (I know, sounds silly, but whatever !)

Since a good portion of the itinerary is "at sea" our thought is we probably would not be using the balcony all that much.

Would appreciate comments or suggestions (or sharing of experiences)

    THANK YOU !

Imo Breeze, dream class has the best spa  because it has the best T pool. Someone jumped on me because I cant spell but know it has minerals and stuff, idk if that one or was princess that had the wave to swim against, but it is pretty well agreed the best spa is dream class.

I did magic and dream and magic had stuff like the italian restaurant and a few extras dream didnt have.that being said I think breeze only has 5 days, cant imagine why

Also consider if the ships were sailing full, unlikely,  but in the past sometimes the week long spa pass was not available.

I've also done vista. There are many people crazy for the Havana area, which is a private pool with attentive bar tenders, that is closed off to the general public. Idk if this would appeal or why you want a spa pass just pointing out some love the Havana area on vista with its private pool.

Maybe give us why cloud 9, maybe that is the best choice, then I'd choose dream class, breeze is great, I'd pick it over dream. Breeze is newer and has more bells and whistles.

Some just loved Havana area on vista ... but their spa isnt as good as dream class.

Thank you much for all this info - obviously, the SPA is important to us (2 old seniors that love to just hang out in the SPA while others go ashore !)        Will look for cruises on the BREEZE !!

  5. Haven't cruised on Carnival for a very long time

Hoping that cruising will resume again in late 2021 or early 2022 - anyway - want to sail out of Galveston - so looking at Carnival

Which Suite to book ? -

At first thought the Grand Suite (largest) and then get Spa Pass - so we could use anytime we want - but wonder if a better choice would be to book a "Cloud 9" Spa Suite - smaller room - but includes access to the Spa

Also - which Ship - Breeze or Vista has best SPA

    Comments, suggestions most welcome !

    THANK YOU

  6. In looking at the pictures of the interior of the Grand Suite on the Carnival Vista - It appears that the TV serves as a room divider between the living area and the bedroom.

In the pictures - the TV is "pointed" toward the bed

I ASSUME (here is the DUMB QUESTION) that the TV is on some sort of a swivel stand - and can be tuned to be able to watch from the living area.

    Thank You

No big changes, with Joy still sitting and waiting in Manilla although social media accounts did showed crew movements. As shared by Cruise Wonderland most ships are at their "final lay up ports". Escape is about to dock/anchor at Goa, India, on her trip to Miami.

Epic is in dry dock, the Gem is out for sea trials to see if there are any loose nuts and bolts.

I see that the JADE has been moored in Naples for some time now - we are booked on it - Transatlantic from NEW YORK - departing in April 2021 - the ASSUMPTION is that they will NOT bring the Jade back across the ocean - just to go on a Transatlantic ???

Any comments ? - I guess we will just wait and see - have up to 15 days prior to sailing before we cancel - assume that NCL will cancel before that ????

At this point, keeping in mind it's thru my crystal ball, I'm not optimistic at all about cruising in 2021 and less optimistic about cruising from NYC in 2021.

With that being said...I have a 4/2021 booked, which I expect to be canceled (or I'll cancel it) and I plan to book a 10/21.  However, I'm just using  cruisenext certificates.  I don't want to get involved with "more cash down" or a large FCC.

I can wait until "my cruise" will be what I want a cruise to be.

We too, have a cruise booked in 4/2021 - A transatlantic from NY to Southampton - "expecting" it to be canceled - it has already been "paid for" using FCC's (from the canceled April 2020 Transatlantic ! )

Have booked another transatlantic (ALMOST the same itinerary - NY-Amsterdam) for April 2022 as a back-up...

Have so darn many FCC's now - miss cruising - sure hoping cruising starts up again SOON!!!!

dont under any circumstances book an aft suite on the epic. the bed is round and takes up almost the entire cabin, 2 people cannot pass each other  comfortably, little if any privacy  in the bathroom or shower.

id rather take an inside cabin, then get a free aft suite on the epic.  repeat, dont do it. you'll be sorry if you do, i assure you!!!!!

hmmmm.  looking at a category H6 - "Haven Aft Penthouse Suite"  - is that true for them ????

We are booked on the April 2021 Transatlantic - NYC to London.

I am so hoping it is a go, but I have strong doubts.  The cruise is on the STAR and this makes me think it will be canceled.  We'll keep trying.  I've had 3 cruises canceled & have 3 current reservations that may be canceled.  Eventually, (at least hopefully) we'll get a green light!

    Gotta think positive!

    Judy

Hi Judy - we, too are booked on an April 2021 Transatlantic -

New York to Amsterdam on the Jade - there are still a few of us hanging in there - hoping that it won't be canceled - but - we certainly do no want to go on a cruise if we have to wear masks.....

We wait and see an little bit longer !   May just end up with some more FCC's !!)

  11. Have sailed on several NCL ships - but not the Epic (or any in that class)

    LOVE those AFT suites !

Looking at the Transatlantic in December 2022 (certainly optimistic that we will be sailing by then !) Will probably be using FCC's from canceled cruises in 2020 and 2021 ((!!)

As of now there are aft suites available on decks 9, 10, 12, and 13 - Any recommendations for which deck would be best ??

    THANK YOU

My husband & I are booked in a sky suite for next Aug (hopefully) for a 12 day cruise. We have been several times in a Haven on NCL.

We would've stayed with NCL, however the cost was the same for seven days on NCL versus 12 for Celebrity. I'm wondering if any one can tell me how much of a difference between the sky suite & Haven suite?

Sky Suites are much smaller that most of the Haven Suites - bathrooms have shower/tub combined

The restaurant for suite guests on Celebrity is MUCH nicer than the Haven Restaurant

WONDERFUL HUGE choice of "Specialty" restaurants on NCL instead of just a steak house, italian, etc. on Celebrity

  13. Looking forward to cruising again !!

We were on the Millie - in a nice Celebrity Suite a couple of years ago - loved the Suite - EXCEPT for that AWFUL HIGH, HIGH, HIGH bathtub ! (many different reviews re: that) -

Anyway - booked on the Equinox for a Caribbean cruise in September 2021 (hopefully !) - (this replaces a canceled one from September 2020)  ...

Can anyone tell us if the tub on the Solstice Class ships are closer to NORMAL height ? (MUCH easier to climb in and out of than those on the Millennium Class ships ?)

This probably sounds like a dumb/silly question to anyone that hasn't experienced the tubs on Millennium Class ships - appreciate hearing from anyone with first-hand experience - trying not to have to pay for upgrade to a Royal Class suite...

    Thank You !

  14. We are still optimistic that our Alaska cruise - R/T Vancouver will take place - August 2021 !

Starting to look at air travel possibilities - as far as arriving into YVR - it looks like we can take a flight that arrives at about noon the date of departure - and head directly to the ship (wonder if Celebrity will still offer "USA DIRECT")

For returning home - it looks like a flight that departs YVR at about 1:00 PM would work ???? - Or do we need to allow MORE time

(Have been to Vancouver many, many times - so really don't want to spend "additional" time there this time !)
